JU just heard the f-16s from the world series fly over his house....pretty f***in cool............

is it pbr or is it really quiet in fenway tonight?

Probably.  Im sure 75% of the fans there are what we call in Boston, "the pink shirts".  These are all the bandwagon fans (mostly female) that wear pink red sox hats and think a double play is something out of a porn movie.....

Is anyone elses TV sound all f'd up?

JU, U89 heard the jets as well.......U89's TV sound is fine though......

SRT,
If some way or another the Engineers and Johnnies could play each other in the playoffs I think that would be:
MONKEY BUKKAKE WEEK/YEAR ???

Hey Johnnie, this is a family board.

You kiss the Bennies with that mouth?

:o Do the monks at St. John's know you're talking like that?  :o

uh...actually 81, RT took that stuff up to the MIAC board first

Oh.  That's very different.  Never mind.

That would have been a tubbing offense in my day.

ZING!!!

Reminds RT of 1993 when . . . the then-AD at RPI, Bob Doucette, was on the NCAA committee . . .

Ducatte.  The same guy who called the Union AD in 1979, and told him to come get Union's end zone cannon.  Read all about it in the D3 Rivalries Board.

Duquette was a professor of materials engineering.

from ESPN.com (Jayson Stark)

Asked to describe what it's like to see those Red Sox hitters stomping into the batter's box, Rockies pitching coach Bob Apodaca put it this way: "[They're] big hairy-chested guys, one after another, who work the count and pounce on your mistakes."

Did anyone else notice that JD Drew and Jacoby Elsbury got the largest ovations during the introductions last night?  That crowd was ridiculous.  I love the Red Sox, but man do I have a hatred for so many people in Boston.

And seriously, can you show that retarded kid dancing in the bleachers one more time with his $2000 ticket wrapped around his neck?

Try as I might, I just can't bring myself to root for the Red Sox, despite the fact that I consider Yankees - Red Sox to be the greatest rivalry in all of sports.  (RPI - Union being a close second.)

Even if I wanted to admire the way the Sox dismantled a team coming off a 9 day layoff, this morning I heard the following news about Game 2:

James Taylor will sing the National Anthem (Jeeeez, does he know the words?  Has he ever sung it?  Does he know he's supposed to sing the American National Anthem?)

What a bunch of homos.

That's how little you know.  James Taylor has sung the National Anthem at Fenway many times, and it's one of the best renditions i've ever heard.  He plays his acoustic guitar and sings it in his own Jimmy T fashion.  James Taylor lives and is very popular in MA and I can't think of anyone better to do it.

Who would you rather have?  Carl Lewis?  Roseanne?  THat horrible douche from Yankee Stadium Ronan Tynan?

What is that supposed to mean though?  The AMERICAN national anthem?  What?  James Taylor was born in MA, grew up in NC, and now lives back in MA.  What are you actually trying to say?  Or are you just making pointless statements as usual?

I don't doubt it for a second that James Taylor has sung many times in Boston, the capital of the state that keeps sending a fat, drunken, serial sexual harasser to the United States Senate.  I don't doubt that those Bostonians love their Jimmy T.

What a bunch of homos.

Semi-seriously, any discussion of good renditions of the National Anthem is hampered by the fact that as a song, the music is pretty crappy, so the question becomes who can sing a really awkward melody well.

Tony Kornheiser has said many times--and his point has merit--that the National Anthem should always be sung by Robert Merrill.  Unfortunately, he hasn't been available since game 1 of the 2004 World Series.

Huey Lewis and the News does a great a capella version, in three part harmony.  I personally rate Whitney's 1991 Super Bowl performance as the best non-Robert Merrill version that I've ever witnessed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STKSdLm2r8k

Have a great World Series.

Are you going to have a point?  What is your problem with James Taylor?  His music is some of the most amazing and unique ever created and he's an amazing talent.  Do you miss Britney and JT or something?

Dogg, you don't need to hurl insults in order to express an opinion.  You called Ronan Tynan a douchebag.  Why?

I'm sorry that you haven't noticed that James Taylor sings at benefit concerts for MoveOn.org and MoveOn PAC, both of which are pretty virulently anti-American.  Asking him to sing the National Anthem during the World Series strikes me as a tad disrespectful to America.

I really do hope you enjoy the World Series.  Honest.

I'm as Republican as they come, but really, this is why Republicans end up getting a bad name.  Make a point without namecalling, "move on" to another point and watch people at least listen to the crux of your statements.

'What a bunch of homos.'

Does that constitute name calling?

From Wikipedia - MoveOn is a liberal public policy organization that has raised millions of dollars for Democratic Party candidates in the United States.  It was formed in response to the impeachment of President Clinton, and may have helped propel the Democratic Party to power in the 2006 election.

MoveOn comprises two legal entities, each organized under a different section of U.S. tax and election laws:

MoveOn.org Civic Action, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, formerly known as MoveOn.org, primarily focuses on education and advocacy on national issues.

MoveOn.org Political Action, a federal political action committee, formerly known as MoveOn PAC, gives contributions to candidates across the country to advance causes in Congress and help elect selected political candidates.

Doesn't sound 'anti-American' to me.  Actually quite the opposite.  It actually sounds like, with the history of our almighty wise president Mr. Bush, very Pro-America, as if they are actually hoping for the good of the country.

I'm not a political person by any means, but this sounds like sour grapes for a Bush supporter.
