True CHampions!!! Congrats RPI

Serious??  Union got lucky in Worc. last year and U89 was pissed.....Union got lucky in '06 & RPI got lucky in '07.

To say "True Champions" after that performance is rediculas.......

RT doesn't know how to feel but here's his analysis from the radio broadcast...this was a wild nail biter to listen to and RT actually isn't complaining about the announcers today.

It was looking bleak for RPI for much of the game as we couldn't seem to finish things. A classic example where 2 teams both tried to give the game away for almost 4 quarters. RPI's kicking game was suspect on FGs, yet credit to the kid for nailing 3 extra points which turned out to be crucial. RPI offense for 3 quarters moved the ball but struggled to capitalize on key WPI turnovers when it counted. Obviously, the win is all that matters but only 1 TD by RPI was really any sort of controlled drive. The 2nd TD was a wild pass then 2 short plays to punch it in. Big kudos to RPI in OT for moving the chains both times. Jimmy Robertson has to be one of the best "gamers" in D3 football at the QB position. They have a pair of nice WR's, McGowan and Savasi who saved the game w/ clutch plays.

WPI looked like they were on a mission in the first half but absolutely destroyed themselves w/ terrible interceptions that occured when they were in a position to put RPI in an almost insurmountable hole. BTW, this RPI DB w/ the 3 INTs today (all critical ones) is a STUD.

Criticizing the OT play calling by WPI is entirely fair. There was nothing creative and it seemed like RPI knew what was coming.

Wow...7-0 RPI...bring on the honeybees of UR next week!!!

Oh they're not? Please. Everyone has a bad game and to come back and win this one is a sign of a true champion. Don't hate RPI because they're gonna whip up on Union in a couple weeks.

1 I don't know how I feel either, but do I know that I have to reupholster a couple of chairs that I sucked a hole in, while listening to the 1st 3 quarters of the game.  Had to go out ~start of 4th quarter, got the final score via cellphone from RS81's clone.

2 Please use this metaphor in a D3 webcast.

3 Isn't this the same dood what run back 2 punts for TDs last week?

The big game of the week was Hobart beating Alfred, hands down.

TGP offered the modest assessment that Bart would put it past Fred by a couple of points.  Bart remarkably stomped on Fred's balls.  The Rev is still waiting to read the reports, but it could not have been a pretty game for the Saxons.

I hope the front page of D3 foosball dot com will have a poll asking for the upset of the week, and include the Hobart victory.

Watch out, Onion.  I hope the Dutchmen aren't resting on the laurels of having won the Hobart game for the past few years. Hobart has built up full-steam and now that the Statesmen beat the Saxons, they have some real momentum going.  Should be an interesting game in Troy next week.  Schenectady?  The Rev can never keep it straight which school is in which town.  Both towns make Geneva look downright hoity-toity...which is sad.

By the way, props to Onion for having its two toughest LL rivals at the very end of the season.  That makes for some exciting ball with big impact on pool A vs. C bids.

Frank Rossi! Counselor, what are the playoff implications, if any, of Hobart beating Alfred?  Has this ruined Fred's automatic A pool bid?

Rev,

Congrats on the win today v. Alfred.

As for Pool A implications, Alfred still controls their own destiny for the automatic bid.  If they can win the last 2 against Ithaca and Fisher they get the automatic.  That will be a very tough task though, since both games are away and Ithaca is playing great right now.

The loss today @ Hobart kills them for a pool C at-large bid.  If they beat IC but lose to Fisher, Alfred will finish at 8-2.  Pool C chances would be slim I think.  Especially since they might be competing for a spot against Hobart, which beat them head-to-head.

Interesting I have been posting on D3.com for a couple years now but I am just recognizing the boards here. RPI showed a lot of heart today. They deserve credit where credit is due. It totaly pains me to say it but even good teams have bad games and if they find a way to win it shows a lot of character. Right now they deserve to be a top the LL and are the favorite. Although I do believe if RPI and Hobart were to play again right now Hobart would win. Regardless of next weeks outcome w/ Hobart and Union I hope the RPI players have the same attitude as some of the RPI fans on this board. Please oh please take Union lightly! The Dutchmen are not a weathered team, they are in some ways still searching for an identity. Yet they do have the potential to beat RPI. UNion has shown defensive growth and offensive potential throughout the season.  If RPI comes into the game feeling over confident like Union did last year they will end up with the same fate as Union in 06' which i would love to see! Let's go Dutchmen and let's go Rochester next week!

Wait...how could you have 1 post if you've been posting for a couple of years to D3.com?  And what does the expression, "recognizing the boards" mean?

Are you using recognize in the sense that ODB says, "You need to recognize that I'm a P.I.M.P.!" ?

AU vs Hobart game was a great game.  It reminded me of last years playoff game between Hobart vs. CU.  Hobart outsmarted the Saxons in the second half and controlled the ball. It was a brilliant game where the Statesman took complete control in the second half.
