Good Lord, there's no way I'm doing this at this hour. I'll do it for the column or something if we can't figure out all the scenarios beforehand. There's how many possibilities ... someone that's good at math, help a brother out.
Well, K-Mack, there's 4 games in question and only 2 possible outcomes for each game (thank you overtime rules).
24=16

Here's the best I can break it down:
RPI beats Union AND Rochester loses (at least) 1 - RPI wins AQ.
Union beats RPI AND Hobart loses (at least) 1 - Union wins AQ.
Hobart wins 2 AND RPI loses 2 - Hobart wins AQ.
Rochester wins 2 AND Union loses 2 - Rochester wins AQ.

The following will result in a 3-way tie, and I do not know the LL tie-breaker:
Rochester wins 2 AND Union beats Hobart AND RPI beats Union (Rochester/Union/RPI tied at 6-1)
Hobart wins 2 AND RPI beats Rochester AND Union beats RPI (Hobart/Union/RPI tied at 6-1)

RPI wins any 3-way, 1-loss tiebreaker.

Looks like this is going to be a very interesting two weeks. Any predictions? Can Rochester beat RPI? How much has Hobart improved since the beginning of the year? Can the Dutchmen QBs be consistant and stay healthy enough to pul an upset over Bart? I guess I feel like asking questions this morning. I am a teacher and I am in my pre-game mode for the day ;D

Looks like this is going to be a very interesting two weeks. . . . How much has Hobart improved since the beginning of the year?

This is a great question, and I think that any discussion of the answer exposes a lot about D3 football this year.  I think it's possible to say the following simultaneously:

  • Hobart is playing the best football in the East; and
  • Hobart hasn't improved much over the season.
Both of Hobart's losses were by less than a touchdown, to 6-2 Dickinson (of the South Region) and to 7-0 RPI.  Hobart can put points on the board, and they can also keep the potent offensive duo of Al and Fred from scoring buckets of points.

Ultimately, I think Hobart may serve as a shining example of how close the competition is in all of Division III football.  After all, Hobart beat Hartwick, who beat SJFisher, a team that is beloved nationwide by the D3football.com poll voters (D'oh!!) is 6-2, but "just seems to be firing on all cylinders this month," as spaketh the Poobah.

Hartwick's also 6-2, but what's with that lopsided loss to W(TF?)NEC.  If they're accepting suggestions, I'd suggest that Hartwick explain it by pointing out that in Division III football, the competition is incredibly close--just look at Hobart, for example.

ok, I thought by the sig, I made it clear, who gives a flying CR*P about my spelling, deal with it...

Supes, you need to mellow out a little bit here, m'boy.  The running joke about your horrible typing is long established.  We are going to continue to mention it because it is part of the LLPP repitoire.  You need to accept this in your heart, not just in your signature line.  Accept the LLPP in your heart!

Son, if I didn't like you, would I have compared you to rotting animal carcass and then prayed for your linguistic redemption?  Surely not.

XO,
The Rev

We're good, and if I was really pissed I would of called you a Union Alumni

In all honesty Super, you have been a really good sport throughout the ribbing.  We had a bumpy start with you here in LLPP, but you are a good dude.  U89 meant no disrespect to you....just giving credit to a funny statement from 'da Rev.

Do you have any double blind studies that support this hypothesis?

You'd have to be double blind not to know it in the first place.

The ACC has an interesting anomaly facing it.  Here are the standings in the ACC Coastal Division:

UVA 4-1
VT 3-1
UM 2-2

Miami plats UVA this weekend, Va. Tech the following weekend and BC to end the season.  If Miami runs the table, they would win the tiebreaker in the Coastal Division for the ACC Championship Game berth...and, since BC leads Wake by a game and already beat Wake this season, could lead to a rematch a week after the scheduled BC/Miami game -- something they try to avoid with these divisional alignments.

Of course, this means that Miami actually has to WIN three in a row against ranked opponents...That might happen...(and RPI might stop sucking, too).

Touchdown Tommy

Ohhhh Frank R coming strong this morning.  Let's see how long Mr. Regulator and his gang take the abuse.

BTW: Hey Enginegro thanks for playing buddy (in the LLPPSCFJFFL this week for the uninformed).  I just bich slapped you and sent you packing.  It was fun while it lasted!
