RPI Sucks!!!!
It's science.

Do you have any double blind studies that support this hypothesis?

You'd have to be double blind not to know it in the first place.

Seems to JT that the tested theory [by Gro, LD, Reg et. al] implicates a different school known for its wine and cheesh pedigree.

And JT just spend the part of his morning staring at our poly saleslady's tastycakes in a low cut number.  So JT can't be double blind.  JT thinks she was talking about their new printing press, and some other newfangled crap one can make with plastic, but JT's not sure.  For some reason JT wants a glass of milk.

On her 20 questions "article", question number one: I love (University of South Carolina), but I almost went to:South Carolina was the only place I wanted to go, and the only school I applied to. I have always been a Gamecock fan!

At least they had her say that she has always been a Gamecock fan and not a fan of ...

After all, Hobart beat Hartwick, who beat SJFisher, a team that is beloved nationwide by the D3football.com poll voters.

Are you seriously using that as a baseline for your thoughts?

Honestly dood.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

D'oh!!

Corrected post: Hobart beat Hartwick, who beat SJFisher, a team that is beloved nationwide by the D3football.com poll voters (D'oh!!) is 6-2, but "just seems to be firing on all cylinders this month," as spaketh the Poobah.

My point remains the same, Hobart is a great example of how slim the margins are between DIII teams.  Hobart wasn't exactly misfiring when they played RPI.   Hobart has two losses, and made pretty short work of Al Fred, who together were ranked # 11 in the national poll.

Tags, your question is a tad lacking in context for me to address it directly.

Good point....Alfred's only wins over winning teams are versus Hartwick and Husson.

'Gro, can we bring back Jim Mora??

Husson.....Husson???????

AU's hallmark win over Springfield is looking less and less meaningful these days too.

And Union's thumping at the hands of the Pride is looking worse and worse....maybe U89 can downplay it by stating that the game was very early in the season.

Anyone??

It comes off sounding like an excuse but I think it is a very legitimate consideration.  At the very least, I don't think results vs. SC would be of any value in attempting to determine who would win a hypothetical matchup between IC and Union given the time of the year they played.

Maybe the secret to understanding the SuperHeinz57 "depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

Those D3football.com poll voters have surely pondered that "who's better?" question endlessly, have they not?  Their studied collective opinion as of 8 days ago was that there were only ten teams in the whole country that were better than Al Fred, while at the same time, not a single voter thought that the Pumpkinheads were one of the 25 best teams in the country--even though D3football.com Poll voter Poobah thought that Hobart was "firing on all cylinders this month."

I think the first game of a season has to be taken with some grain of salt.  Hartwick losing to Wnec is another one....

I remember in 1996, Corltand lost to Mansfield in the first game of the season.  We played them the next game and went up 35-0 in early in the second quarter en route to a 59-whatever blowout that wasnt even close.  Then we lost to Cortland by a big score at the end of the year on a muddy field......

So teams do change throughout the season...
