I think it comes down to this:

Hartwick at home
5-0, average score 34.0-26.6.
Massey rank of home opponents: 28, 122, 13, 211, 99 (one in bottom 100)

Hartwick on the road
3-2, average score 41.8-41.8
Massey rank of road opponents: 165, 56, 216, 189, 165 (one in top 100)

Hartwick plays a little better at home. OK, a lot better.

How confident are you in Massey rankings?  The groupings you've identified show a broad, discernible distinction.  But how comfortable are you with them in narrower analytical contexts, such as say, comparing Pool C candidates?

How'd Hartwick play the 165-ranked team twice?  Were the rankings at the time of the game, or was there a tie in the Massey rankings for number 165?

Thanks -- WNEC is 213, not 165. Utica is 165.

I'm comfortable with them in a broad scope.

Dan -- I don't know. A tie game through three overtimes with Utica on the road and struggling to beat Norwich spoke volumes to me too.

The national observers have loved SJF all season long, and no one has explained to me how Hartwick is such an overwhelming d3 power that Fisher's loss to Hartwick shouldn't have cost SJF serious loss in standing.  Since Fisher's inexplicable loss to Hartwick, Fisher has played five teams.  Of those five, the two best records are owned by 5-5 Brockport, and 7-3 Alfred, whom Fisher played in the final act of Alfred's fold-like-a-camp-stool big 2007 finish.

Hobart has indeed been on a tear since its last second loss to RPI, and when you look at Hobart's opening game OT loss to Dickinson, Hobart is two plays from an undefeated season.  Their helmets still look like pumpkins, though.

It was a 3pt loss on the road vs a team that just knocked of a previously ranked top 25 team.  SJF was ranked pretty high before that so I dont know how far you exected them to fall.

Her salary isn't that much.  She sits on the board of directors for some pretty heavy hitters.

Dr. Jackson is a member of the Board of Directors of the NYSE Euronext (since December, 2003). She chairs the New York Stock Exchange Regulation Board. She serves on the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution and as a director of IBM Corporation, FedEx Corporation, Marathon Oil Corporation, Medtronic Inc., and Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated.

Her resume is like 18 pages long.  Rumor has it that they don't pay her more "because she would then make more than the entire city of Troy, combined"

Won't roughly $135,000 do that?

Give or take.  Don't forget Mario the parking guy takes .001% of all parking tickets he writes at RPI, which gets him past the $50k mark in compensation.

under shirley's compensation package it lists:
- Driver $40,000
- Guy to talk to when walking the treadmill at 7am when the football team is working out $50,000
- Heated tent for football games in December $120,000
