ah, figured you'd seen them for some reason.

And, you have to admit that once you get over the initial "wow, we're here in Alliance"... it wears off rather quickly.

Tags contends that Ithaca is by far a much better Football atmosphere.

Yea.  Mt Unions campus was very nice and clean, but the stadium is probably like every other average small college football stadium in the country.  The fans were kind of wierd too.  Nobody ever stood up.  They all sat down for basically the entire game.  And I dont mean like they had nothing to cheer for, but it seems like at any football game, the people that get the top row, like to stand up to watch the game.  Everyone there just went right to their seats and sat down.  And there are always some people who like to stand in the endzone and watch the game.  Not many of them either.

I thought I was at a tennis match last year w/ those guys - They just sat w/ their arms folded. I thought I was really going to be in for a treat, you know, crazy student fans all over, a band going nuts... nada, zip, zilch. Was kind of a big let down.

I don't know tags, those guys sitting next to us who I talked to were pretty cool, laid back, but it was fun to watch

ya, I'm talking about the huge grandstand area where the MUC fans were though.

superman57

wait.... there were people sitting across from us... your s#itting me right... :)

And did I hear that MUC has like 400 players or something on the JV/total team?  I didnt see any guys in warmups.  (Im assuming players would have some football gear of some sort.)

From what I saw today, TCNJ's offense starts with the run and then uses James' mobility to buy time for the pass.  The ball doesn't look pretty coming out of his hand, but he's got a knack for scrambling in and around the pocket.  I'd call the offense "opportunistic," taking advantage of special teams and defensive plays.

One potential blow to the Lions' passing attack would be the loss of Cam Richardson, a receiver who left the field without putting any weight on his knee in the second half.

Thanks to all the RPI guys whom I met today.  You guys have a nice atmosphere and great support from former players, something that only the stronger Division III programs enjoy.  I really appreciate the hospitality.

And thanks to the LLPP members who listened to the broadcast today.  Reading your posts during the game was nice because you just never know who (if anyone) is listening.

Sooper:

Good to meet you today.  Good luck to your boys next week in a game that's a lot more interesting than the usual game against an NEFC playoff team.

Dew:

Good to meet you today, as well.  You did fine.  Just hit me the next time I don't let you get a word in. :)

Oooooooo.  Barry Barry. Quite contrary.

Bonds is no longer in "the clear," but is under indictment.

Makes you wonder what the SF Giants knew?

I'm still wondering what the Cubs and Cards knew in 1999.

Res, maybe you and Franksquire can help me figure out why Barry Bonds is the only one who is being dogged by a multi-year DOJ investigation, at the end of which he's not charged with committing the crime that was being investigated, but rather he's charged with lying that he didn't commit the crime that was being investigated.

If they know that he's lying when he says he never knowingly took steroids, why aren't they charging him with the most heinous crime since the Lindbergh kidnapping, i.e. steroid use?

I don't see any difference in kind between Bonds and McGwire/Sosa.  Canseco and Caminiti earned MVP awards on the juice, Caminiti's dead.  Lyle Alzado's dead.  Flo-Jo's dead.  Walter Payton?

I don't see why the DoJ isn't after 80% of all Major League professional athletes.

I wonder what the percentage is among D3 football players.  I heard statements by NESCAC players in the early 80s.  Steroids are everywhere.

B/c Mcgwire never commented on it, he just played dumb & went away --- Bonds flat out denied the whole thing, and then started running his mouth about it like the arrogant ass that he is. Now it's coming back to bite him.

QuoteTCNJ will not lose by less than 30.  Nothing against them, but their offense is garbage, and their defense wasn't as vaunted as they were made out to be.  I really think Mount might win 77-0.

Hard to comment except to say that if TCNJ loses 77-0 they'll forever be known as the team that beat RPI before losing 77-0 in the NCAA playoffs.  When MUC rushes all over TCNJ they'll wonder how the heck RPI only managed -3 yards rushing the week before and why did they only manage 14 points with the spread offense.

Vaunted defense? Like Montclair, Rowan, Cortland, and now RPI — you lost to the team picked to finish next to last in the NJAC. One NJAC championship, a nine win season and beating the LL champ on the road in the NCAAs... it's too good! Who cares what the final is out in Ohio next week. MUC is a school that is known for one thing and one thing only. What percentage of the male student population went there to play football? Ten percent. Twenty percent? RPI and TCNJ have football programs which are part of greater institutions. MUC's football program IS the institution which just happens to be part of a college. I'll take the former... and I know it sounds like sour grapes before the game is being played.

Good game, and good season RPI. Best of luck next year.

And you called a good game Gordon!

Gordo, I enjoyed the broadcast today.  I especially enjoyed saving myself a long, sad drive back to northern VA from BDT (Beautiful Downtown Troy).  RT, you were impressively evenhanded--no one could call you a "homer," a Rizzuto.  The only thing I noticed was that the RT became ignominously silent during the final minute or so.

Big shout out to Jimmy Olson, for being so ignominous.

Huh?  McGwire was never subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury.  He was called to testify to Congress, but he didn't testify--he pleaded the fifth, and then he sobbed and wept.

Frank?  Res?  Anyone?  Bueller?
