Should Reg even comment on this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080613/ap_on_re_us/paying_for_grades

Interesting but you know what?  If the parents don't care (they probably don't), then let the schools give em something rewarding.....unless it's my tax dollars.....

RE: Tax dollars
Do you  think the schools are making the money they give students out of playdough!?!?

PBR, let me get a 411 out there by lunch,

Thanks,
MGMT

Yea but these charter schools sometimes have some different kind of setups.  But I guess if its grant money or whatever it still comes down to me paying for it.  Then again, I (we) pay for many of these kids when they get older anyway.

Grant money, schmant money.
If the program actually works and improves grades, don't you think educational leadership is going to try to roll this out everywhere with marginal to poor grades?  Sooner or later the trend isn't go to school to learn and get an education it's "hey, I'm not going to participate because the students at school X get paid!"  Sooner or later you have schools across america making it rain.

"So Regulator, did you do your homework?"....."nah bra, you need to PAY ME!"

I guess Im just saying that at many crappy schools, kids dont do homework, they dont learn and they dont care (and their parents dont care!).  Then when they graduate or dont graduate, they go into public housing (that you and I pay for), they get free health care (you and I pay for), they get welfare (you and I pay for).  So maybe its cheaper to pay some kids early to learn so that they dont get our money later?

wishfull thinking on JUs part I guess....

Maybe Jackson couldn't take a star-less team to a championship but there are plenty of instances that prove a team full of stars presents its own challenges.  Having lots of talent is never a guarantee of winning.

That's exactly what happened to Jackson when the Pistons beat the Lakers after they added Gary Payton and Karl Malone... but it probably didn't bother him too much when he went home and kissed the 9 other rings he already had.

All this ranting against Jackson you'd think I was rooting for the Celtics... but you'd be wrong. Go LA.

JU, has that shipment of pink celtics hats arrived in Boston harbor yet?  The "fans" are getting restless.

Actually gro, the city is flooded with green shirts.  Unlike the "pink shirt" sox fans, the bandwagon celtic fans are wearing the good old solid green shirt.  And I live in a semi-busy area next to the trolley tracks so I see em all over the place going into town.

Man is this not the LLPP??  It's been almost 24 hours and not one single comment on the greatest political interviewer of ALL TIME passing away??

Just got back from DC this am and the place is in serious mourning over the loss.

Did anybody else see Russert interview Ross Perot when he was running for president as an Indy?  Perot didn't like Russert's aggressive line of questioning and said he would leave if Russ didn't soften up.  Russ stared him down...then continued with his hard line and Perot 'dealt with it'.

PCole, from what I have read, Russert was very active at Catholic U.

God Bless Tim Russert......he was a complete class act......

The saddest part is that he'll never know the outcome of the R. Kelly case.

Probably -- he was Catholic himself and worked in the same city. Never had the honor of meeting him, however.

How about Javon Walker??  Went from spraying the crowd with Dom Pergnon to getting rolled in a Vegas back alley and left unconscious.

Good Times!!!

Arelen Specter has decided to call of his investigation into 'Spy-gate' and enjoy the last 6-8 months of his old ass life.

Interesting when he was asked about pursuing the NBA ref scandal he was 'not interested'??????  Sounds to me like someone just had a boner for the Patriots.

Can the national league please get rid of the dumbest rule in the history of sports (no dh)?  I mean, bases loaded in the 4th and we have to see Colon look like a clown in a professional sporting event?  Get rid of that rule.  It would be like if the Patriots had a 10 play drive down to the 10 yard line, and then had to put in Richard Seymour at Quarterback to finish the drive.

-Specter/spygate/nba-
It is also clear that the nba issue is 1000X worse than spygate.

-Javon Walker-
I heard this guy bought a $15,000 round of champagne?  F'n crazy.  That has to be the easiest job in the world in terms of making money and markup are those casino/nightclubs.  I went to a bachelor party at the Body English (hard rock club) where about 25 guys put in 100 bucks for a table for an hour.  I think for $2500 we got 3 bottles of hard booze, and then after that each bottle of vodka was $800!  And Im sure that people paid the $800.
