QuoteAs much as I am not an RPI fan I am a fan of Robertson, I think he is very composed and talented. Has anyone heard or seen his receiving core this camp? I am curious to see if his supporting cast can support his skill. He deserves a successful senior year.

Went to the HVCC scrimmage yesterday.  I think the answer to your ? is Robertson will be fine with receiver talent.  Couple of returning kids and a few who should have a chance to grab a few balls this year.

McCarthy (a soph) who played well in the shoes game is going to have a big year IMHO as will Savasli and Fil.  They will miss McGowan but the receiver talent is there to catch the ball and make some yards after catch.

One of the things to look for is whether any of the receivers will be able to block as effectively as Graef did last year.  He was good size and physical down field and made a number of 6 yard runs into 15 for the backs.

Overall I saw some decent young talent and they are young.... especially O- Line.  If that jells quickly they may be a team to reckon with late in the season.  Defensive front will be a force. and overall I think their D will be good and keep them in most games.  O will be inconsistent to start but they have a chance to be explosive if the O line comes together.

Did they get the better of HVCC or did HVCC get the better of them in your opinion? I know in years past HVCC is loaded with some incredibe talent and plays football at a very high level. Whenever RPI does well against them in a scrimmage it usually means good things to come for the Engineers. Union scimmages Brown next Friday or Saturday. To me that is always a decent indication of where the Dutch will fall during the season. You just hope and pray that during these scrimmages you have no injuries. Thanks for the input on Robertson as well. It is going to be a fun season in Liberty League Football.

A scrimmage is just that.. so scores are misleading. Plus you can't tell whether starters are playing against second teamers etc.  It was run like a true game - no coaches on the field, refs, 1st down markers. halftime, game clock etc.

Overall I would say that RPI was definately the better team.. Seemed like 5 or 6 to 2 in TD's but again a scrimmage score doesn't mean much.

RPI had some success running the ball but were more successful in the air.  Think Robertson had 3 scores before they pulled him.

One of the many advantages of left coast living is being able to have a full on Labor Day bbq and then see the end of a great football game like Tenn vs. FUCLA (before 9 PM).

Looks like Tricky Nick and Norm didn't get the memo that they were supposed to lose big to a SEC team like Tennessee.  That's why they play the games.....

Looks like the Pac10 just got more interesting.

A) Saying you can out swim Michael Phelps if you were only given the opportunity

At this point in our lives, there are many here who can't even run as fast as Michael Phelps can swim.  (Unless that run is too the beer cooler or the bathroom.)

That guy is one of the most phenomenal athletes of all time, and from his interviews he seems like a genuinely decent person...about as down to earth as a kid who spends his entire life trying to be the best in field can be.

And he wants to give back to the sport and get more kids in the pool.  Not a bad dood.

Rutgers shat the bed yesterday against Fresno St.  Great weather.  Wish there were a few clouds, it was straight sun from 4pm-6pm.  JT is little toasted this am even with the sunblock.

Rutgers should have had this one in the bag, but couldn't finish an offensive drive or handle FG's.  Defense held a good Fresno offense to 0-0 1st half.  Rutgers should have been up at least 13-0.  Star receiver #1 drops a sure all alone touchdown when he looks over the wrong shoulder.  One easy FG is partially blocked.  2nd FG is a bad snap that gets shanked.

2nd half-

Star receiver #2 drops one right is his hands all alone for a sure TD.  Penalty laden second half stops drives.  Punt return TD called back on block in the back. Rutgers D spends too much time on the field in the second half, and gets worn down. 24-7.

On the plus side this is NJ, and there were plenty of Rutgers fans beating each other up.  Musta been the heat and the booze.

They need to execute better if they hope to challenge in the Big East.

LD get the board waxed!!! its been pumping all weekend here in nj and w/ the conveyor belt of storms in the tropics there will be waves for the next 10 days...albeit hannah's current projections are due to make landfall right near you there will be waves to be had for the forseeable future

Rutgers has talent.  O line, D line, look really good. Lb's are decent, good corners but safety position is suspect.  Teel at QB is good (I don' t think he's great, but good).  Receivers are fast and big just gotta hold on to the ball.  Looks like two or three guys are going to pick up Ray Rice's production.

Could a good year.  Could also be a long year if mental mistakes continue.

Union82 is hanging with Halladawg and you most likely will not see him post here.

It looks like Unionfan and dlippiel are taking a page out of the Lou Hotlz book, How To Sandbag Your Team and Win. Just kidding but it does kind of look that way. Union is in a prove it year.  lucky to be 500 probably.

TGP has discovered via the D&C that apparently LiDrazzah has graduated.  TGP thought he had one more year of eligibility (was only a JR last season), but it appears he has collected his degree and has moved on.

I am sure the rest of the LL defenses will not miss him!  Remember him being a Jr....  was not looking forward to seeing him running wild like last year.

True.  TGP is curious as to why he'd fore-go his SR year/final season of eligibility, but he must have had a good reason?

Hobart will be hard pressed to find another ~1300 all purpose yards guy on the team.
