Not a lot of d1 football talk here after the past week.  Heres a few of JUs thoughts....

- Although the unsportsmanlike penalty that was called in last weeks BYU/Wash game was a close one, Wash still had a chance to kick what should be an easy FG for a d1 college team.  I dont feel so bad for them.

One of the sportsheads on ESPN said that the rule clearly states that you can't throw the ball during a celebration. This wasn't a judgement call, the QBthrew the ball then celebrated w/ teammates.

If enough people are against it, go ahead and change the rule, but the zebras were right this time.

Exactly.  Its not like the refs took a point away from them or even called back the TD.

PBR...

unfortunately that aint working its 10 hours before the storm makes landfall and the storm surge is already 10 foot wall of water w/ 20-25 ft. surge expected. and guess what people who wanted to stay are now calling everyone to come save them they want out and are hours before the major brunt of the storm...screw them lets put the military and security forces  in harms way for your bad decision to stay even when they issued a mandatory evacuation. too bad you made your bed now sleep in it. sorry sounds harsh but pbr is tired of these fools trying to be a hero and ride out storms

dlippiel

Dlippiel agrees, when you are told to get out because of a major storm (that could kill you) is on the way you should get out. Well you should get out (even if your not told) anyway. I'll never understand that. I'll pray for all the people in harms way but there is no way we shoudl risk other lives because people did not leave when they are told. Hopefully this storm will not be as bad as it seems and everyone will be O.K. By the way dlippiel is so thankful it is Friday and that he gets to see his Union Dutchmen play football tomorrow at Springfield!

We're T-minus 23 hours and change from the kickoff of the Union College Fighting Dutchmen 2008 Season, folks.  Since my flight from Fort Lauderdale is about to leave, I will be quick about your options for listening to the game.

1) On the Radio

For the fifth season, the away games of the Dutchmen will be broadcast on 1160AM WABY-Mechanicville in the Capital Region.  The broadcast range is basically from northern Saratoga County to southern Albany County.  Kickoff is at 7:00pm, with our pre-game show starting at 6:40pm.

We are working to ensure that the broadcast will also be available on Union's own 89.7FM WRUC-Schenectady, although the broadcast range is essentially Schenectady County and southwest Saratoga County.

2) Over the Internet

We have asked WABY to offer more streaming slots on their website, and they quickly agreed to provide the slots.  This is critical to the next three options.  First, the broadcast will be available on SaratogaMoon.com (click the button to listen live -- a pop-up player will appear with the stream).

We are also working to ensure availability on TRZ Teamline at Teamline.CC (Team Code 1160).  If it is unavailable, please revert to the SaratogaMoon.com stream.

3) Over Your iPhone

We are excited to offer iPhone users a new way to listen to the game.  Even first generation iPhone users can listen over the slower EDGE network.  Users must purchase and install Nullriver's "Tuner" application (available through iTunes).  The cost is $6, but it should allow users to listen to all nine games this season (no proceeds go to Union College or our broadcasts).  We are sure that all away games will be available, at the least.

Once "Tuner" is installed, choose "Search" and then "Open" -- The URL of the stream is:  http://shoutatme.com:7264/ and shoud begin to buffer immediately after entering (make sure to bookmark the station if it works for you for fast access).  The service is free after you download the application.

4) Over Your Blackberry

Similarly, users can listen over their Blackberry devices running Blackberry OS 4.2 and higher.  For $20, users can download the Mobiola xPlayer here:  http://software.blackberrysource.com/product.asp?id=15980&n=Mobiola-xPlayer -- again, the proceeds do not benefit Union College or the broadcasts in any way.  Since I have not personally used this option, make sure to find the option to type in your own station preference and enter:  http://shoutatme.com:7264/ -- Remember that with Blackberries, your service plan may not allow for unlimited streaming -- check your service plan before purchasing and using the software.

5) Over Your Windows Mobile Device

Users can also purchase software for their Windows Mobile device ($20) at http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&osId=1185&jid=1X28BDB733X3439729X99638C4BE47C4&N=4294909491&Ntt=mp3&R=188581&productId=188581 -- Follow the directions above for Blackberry users after installation.

Flight for JFK is taking off.  As always, please listen and enjoy the game -- Carm Audino, Tom Santa Barbara, Alex Audino, Zach Antillety and I will bring you the action from Springfield, MA starting with our 6:40pm pregame show.  Leave comments during the game at rossif@yahoo.com

Thx, Pal

UnionDad

Union is excited, ready and confident.  The OL will punish the Springfield D.  Look for a big performance from Coney

union89

Big games for 'Bart & Union today.....good luck to both.

dlippiel

Let's hope uniondad. dlippiel was surprised to hear Audino so confident in the gazette earlier in the week. It does make me very happy though that he feels the Dutch are ready and improved in certain areas. I can't wait to get to springfield today to see the game. Leaving Scotia at 3:00 so I can hang out and relax for awhile. The old man and I have been watching Dutchmen football for over 20 years together and are more than excited for the beginning of the 08 season. I think if the O line gives Catellier time and Coney openings it will be a good day for the Dutch. Yet time and again that triple option gives the Union D fits no matter how talented they are. It is always so hard to defend and this new Springfield QB seems like he has some talent. Has anyone seen the Holmes kid from Burnt Hills this camp? How does he look? It sounds as if he will be up on the varsity this season and get some carries.
