Wow guys it got pretty heated in here today. Any way you look at it today was a tough loss for the Dutch. This year so far seems to have the Dutch in the same type of situation as last year, maybe worse, maybe a bit better? I think U is in some unchartered territory right now and feeling as if the reputation it has built is slowy in jeopardy. I don't know what to say besides I think the game was lost, as far as I can tell, by a poor playing secondary (and defensive unit altogether), atrocious special teams play, and being OUTCOACHED which I think is happening more than any of us Dutchmen fans are used to. This team has a lot of work to do, a lot. These student athletes have to dig very deep here and ask themselves if they want to do what is nessesary to grow. I respect these student athletes win, lose etc. Yet playing football for the Dutch, to me, is something special and is a huge responsibility. I think the players, and THE COACHING STAFF have to take a serious look in the mirror. I will ALWAYS love the Dutch and support them no matter what. U89 and Frank I know you guys are passionate and you guys know and believe things that some of us don't. Hang in! Let's go U!

I think you realize I'm a fan of Union Football as much as anyone -- and I don't think we need to remind coaches to take looks in the mirror when a Union team starts 1-2.  That's already started, no doubts about it.  I just wanted to nip the negativity pandemic we see on the E8PP at times when SJF loses to MUC and squeaks one out vs. U of R before it became a problem here.

I've watched all three games and know the secondary is having some issues -- at Springfield, they weren't truly tested, and Muhlenberg exposed the holes.  Rochester exploited them even moreso with 281 yards in the air.  I don't choose to make a call for anyone's head (coach or player or otherwise).  I choose to identify the problem and suggest fixes -- fixes that are within a team's control in the MIDDLE of a season.  Discussions about coaching issues that people want to have -- save that sh** for the postseason.  It matters not right now -- we have to play the games with the current roster and the current group of coaches, so get used to what we have right now for another (at least) 6 games and make some positive statements that might help this Union team make a run for the LL crown.

Remember, unless Rochester goes undefeated in the LL, Union still has a chance to win the LL.  As you said, now is not the time to begin witch-hunts and is the time to be supportive.  Unfortunately, if I look supportive here, I'm going to be called a biased apologist by a supposed Union fan.  I'll take my chances in spite of that.

By the looks of it, it got pretty nasty in here today... Supes is not gonna take the time to read right now... maybe later,  I'm just gonna leave this pearl of wisdom... Guys no one here knows Union Football better than Frank and trust me getting negative is not worth it... Everyone including fans from around the east were saying that Fisher was down and not a good team this year and so forth... listen you have to take one game at a time and if this is a rebuilding year for Union than so be it... so far your two loses are against two good teams... UofR is always dangerous... and Muhlenburg is who we thought they were....  So stay positive and remember hockey season starts soon

Good one Supe.....

This is again you putting words in my mouth.....point out to me once where I have either blamed the field goal kicker individually OR called for a coaches head.  Hasn't happened, but you can continue to claim it has.

Secondly, you have continually stated on this site how well the Audino family has treated you.  That is great and from what I know of them, the Audino's are nice people.

You blame that last drive on the defensive secondary??  A defensive change should have been made at that point to stop a sinking ship and wasn't!!!!  Your failure to call attention to this IMO, show's your lack of objectivity.

Frank, hopefully my views are now clear to you....

Good work RT, but if you play that backwards, you can hear Lennon screaming that Union's kicking game cost them the game yesterday and calling for the coach's head...

Yes, you're blaming the coaches and seem to be dwelling on the coaching.  Therefore, statement 1 and statement 2 seem to show a hypocritical stance by you.  Do you read what you write here?

...and what happens during hockey season? Non-scholarship Union takes the season series from full scholarship, historically nationally recognized RPI again! I love it! Just kidding RPI fans it is only an amount of time before new coach gets RPI back to national prominence. Like I said earlier hang in all and lets go U. Robertson had another solid game yesterady for RPI and Bart did not take Susquehanna the way I thought they would. WPI just cannot win in the LL (hope I didn't say that to soon!) It is going to continue to be an exciting year in the LL. Go Dutchmen!

To be clear, I certainly wasn't calling for any coaches' heads.  You don't remain a perennial playoff contender for 25 years without extraordinarily good coaches, particularly with an 8-year run of ADs who have no interest in the success of the program whatsoever.  (In the East, only Ithaca has stayed consistently relevant for as long).

I just think they had a bad day and Greene had a great one. I think a more aggressive defense and sticking with the run game would've been enough to get a win for kids that clearly still played their hearts.

I also think the secondary played OK.  The problem was the LBs got killed in coverage, and that could've been helped by scheme adjustments.  If I had my way, they'd have been playing dime coverage and blitzing the LB on every down of that last drive (but then again, what do I know).

wow...the humor level in the posts definitely is diminishing

I dont want to jump on the negative bandwagon here, but Ive been wondering about the state of some d3 schools over the past couple years.  It seems that the whole "university" world is pushing towards building and building endowments while the economy is going the other way.  These schools prices are still skyrocketing and people (the rich ones) are still paying them.

I just have a strange feeling that the guys like me arent able to attend schools like Ithaca and Union anymore....

I could be wrong.

I just saw on VH1 that the New Kids on the Block are having a live concert at the Boston Garden.

2-1 odds that U89 is sitting at the bar in the Harp (bar across the street from the Garden) waiting for these ho-bags to filter in.....

(deep inside JU wants to go down there and join him....)

C'mon, Curlin went off at 2-5 odds yesterday - and I think the chances are even better for U89 to be waiting for the ho-bags to filter in... :-D

Sorry, U89 -- Had to.
