And the LLPP goes from -70 to the E8, to +70 in about 24 hours.  Nice job boys.

Hey, if you're an E8 self-hater, what can I do about it?  :)  At least we didn't break out into "Simpsons" quotes.  Something like:

"Look, the thing about my family is there's five of us. Marge, Bart, Girl Bart, the one who doesn't talk, and the fat guy. How I loathe him."

Seeing we may have to live through a potential Philly championship of any sort, it's probably good that the excitement was delayed.  Those lunatics may have burnt the city to the ground last night.  Philly has to have the most MISERABLE fans of all time.

I'm secretly hoping TB now comes back and wins, so Santa Claus really gets pummeled this year...Philly fans deserve to stay miserable.  No offense PBR...

None taken LD as beantowns fans were the worst to they finally won again....sorry chicago

You honestly take your life in your hands wearing the opposing jersey/hat in Philly.  Boston and NY are hard core, but they have to take a back seat to Philly fans.  They'd boo the Pope.

Just to play Devils Advocate for Bud Selig, but what would be the outcry today if he decided to call the game last night before it started due to weather and the rain never showed up?  KS thinks he was caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place and would have pissed off people no matter which way he went.  He should have told Fox to get bent and started the game by 6:00-6:30 at the latest.

they need to scale back to 154 or even 152 games and start the season a week later and end it a week earlier, or two weeks if they can bring back double-headers.

problem was at 4pm every weather outlet was reporting heavy rains from 10pm on that the storm was tracking much closer to the coast. when you get within a few hours the computer models are very accurate. selig is a idiot and played a game knowing they would never get in, or at a minimum would get rained out /suspended. agree w/ the point of shortening up the season, pbr's point  about mid 40s being good temps is for the northeast this late in oct/early nov that is about the best you can expect at this time of year. shorter season = better weather and more interest and better series and baseball

who were the best teams this year?

At 100-62, the LA Angels finished with a record 4 games better than the St. Petersburg Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who compiled the second best record in the American League.

At 97-64, the Chicago Cubs' record was 5.5 games better than the Phillies' record.

Unfortunately, with so many divisions, and especially with interleague play, the comparisons aren't as straightforward in the Bud Selig system as they were during MLBaseball's Golden Era.

There's also the complication caused by the presence of the wildcard teams, where a team might actually harm its post-season chances by playing hard at the end of the season.  The wildcard system prevents quality pennant races.  Instead, we get "wild card races" between a bunch of second rate teams.

Ultimately, I just don't understand why a team is required to play 162 games, just so that after it wins more games than any other team in its league, it must play again two other teams in that league, who each won less games.

Couldn't you make this argument for any sport (especially NHL & NBA)?  Also, no way you can compare the schedules of the Angels and Rays.

TB was 6-3 against Anaheim.

TB was 3-0 against CHC.

Why even have a World Series?  Anaheim won more games than anyone else, give them the trophy.

Is this post real?  You're telling me a 95 win Red Sox team didn't deserve to be in the playoffs?  A garbage White Sox team and an Anaheim team who won their division by 21 games because it sucks so bad deserved it more because they won their division?
