Dude, RPI is not good enough to 'phone it in'!!! Only good teams like Ithaca and Cortland can do that.

why do you always find a reason to badmouth your own school?? If it isn't the scheduling, now they're not in the same league as Cortland or IC? RPI has done as much as either of those 2 teams on a national level in the last 10 years....man, RT doesn't know about you LD....

I thought the Dawgg was trying to be funny, not critical of the 'tute.  I thought he was making fun of all the Eastelitists, who do such things as get misty-eyed and put their hands over their hearts whenever the word "Ithaca" (pause for genuflections) is spoken.

Dude, are you serious?  That was the most sarcastic post of all time.  My point was that when RPI wins an ECAC game, it doesn't matter to anyone.  But when teams like Ithaca and Cortland lose to teams like Union and RPI, it's because they were too good to play in that game and they didn't show.  Always an excuse for those 'better' programs.  My post is the exact opposite of your response.

Jeeeeesh...

And I think I deserve an apology.

As do I for FR's questioning my truthfulness on the vote issue....FR is now badmouthing me on other boards as well.....talk about class and maturity level.

If Frank has this big of a problem with me, he should approach me in person at a game and not hide behind a computer screen.....to state his concerns.

No stones for that....

That is PRECISELY what I was getting at.  RPI beats Cortland in the ECAC and it's because Cortland didn't show up and GAVE them the game, not that a team like an RPI could ACTUALLY compete!!!  Not a chance!!!

My goodness, a guy makes a few critical comments about his team's questionable decision making and strategic goals, godforbid, and all of a sudden he's an evil doing leprechaun sent from the perils of hell to tear apart a program...Realism vs. Ass-Kissing...

oh brother...FINE...RT apologizes for not interpreting a post exactly how you intended. RT also apologizes for misinterpreting it based on him seeing you be harsh on RPI quite a bit on their scheduling and associating that sentiment as a segue into this post.

Now will someone please go get RT a Fatburger??

In fairness to FR U89, Franks posts always seem to be down the middle of the line even as he is openly a Union Fan.....and in the few instances when he does state his own opinions, he ALWAYS has what is best for the Union Players in mind. His agenda, is that the Union players have the best possible experience with their football careers as possible. Steve Angiletta himself came on these boards last week and personally thanked Frank for all that he does for the football program.

Union is not getting the administrative support that they have gotten in the past and it shows in their record. Frank is not afraid to point this out for it is his goal to change things for the reason stated above....for the players!

Senor RedTackle

is it just RT or is anyone else sick of these prerecorded messages that keep rolling into our home phones at this time of year touting the politician du jour. Seriously...does anyone really listen to those messages?? At the first audible sound of a prerecorded message, RT just hangs up. To RT, that's the stupidest way to spend campaign dollars.....RT has to waste time each day cleaning out his voicemail with those messages as well when he's not home to answer the phone. WTF....shouldn't the "do not call" list block that stuff??

Thanks, Reno.  I'm really glad you can see from where my concerns are emanating.  As I said earlier, let's get Union to a victory this weekend against the RiPpIes -- that would put the Dutchmen a step much closer to ECAC consideration -- and de-emphasize the early bumps even more (although a loss would not eliminate them from such ECAC consideration).

A win would be huge, and it'd personally justify every bit of my 13,000 miles of travelling this year for the five away games.  Let's make it happen, guys.

I don't know what got it all started between Frank and U89 but you boys should sit down and talk. Perhaps have a nice bottle of merlot and some brie and resolve your differences.

EAST REGION NCAA Rankings
1. Cortland State 7-0 7-0
2. RPI 5-0 6-0
3. Ithaca 5-1 6-1
4. Montclair State 6-1 6-1
5. Rowan 6-1 6-1
6. Hartwick 5-1 5-1
7. Worcester Polytech 6-1 6-1
8. Hobart 5-1 5-1
9. Plymouth State 5-1 7-1
10. Husson 6-0 6-2

Very surprised SJFC is not on this list

TGP gets credit -- posting it in E8 (but not here?!)  -- My darkhorse candidate of Husson is making the East's Pool C scenarios a nightmare right now.

I echo the surprise at SJF's absence from the list, and as I think about it, their absence is quite puzzling, perhaps even shocking.

SJF's in-Region record is 5-1, and they are 1-1 v. in-Region ranked opponents.  I've said before on the East Region Fan Poll board that I don't see how to put much separation between the unholy trinity of Ithaca/Hartwick/St. John Fisher, but the Selection Committee not only put Ithaca 3 spots ahead of Hartwick, they put Ithaca at least 7 spots ahead of Fisher, who laid a monkeystomping on Ithaca's monkeybutt.

Whoa.

But it gets shockinger: at 5-1, SJF's in-Region record is as good as that of FOUR teams in the top ten, including Plymouth State, from the oft-mocked NEFC.  (I assume that oft-mocking is the NCAA equivalent of low OWP/OOWP.)  Is it possible that despite assurances to the contrary, SJF's killer out of conference/out of region schedule has bitten them in the behind?

I think I'm gonna throw up in my mouth now.

Pat Coleman

I think there are so many 1-loss teams in the East that use of the secondary criteria was probably inevitable.

As a reminder, we have the strength of schedule numbers on the site for your reference.
http://www.d3football.com/strength-of-schedule/2008

Team, OWP, OOWP
Ithaca, .544, .582
St. John Fisher, .478, .495

FWIW, the NCAA also has Plymouth State's in-region record wrong. It's 6-1.
