RPI ends the '86 Field Era with a win. 34-31 over Alfred.

8-0 in ECAC games

"We're #33!!!  We're #33!!!".....

Seriously, congrats to RPI.....Hobart & RPI go 2-0.....great showing today for the LL.

How do we feel about our Curry conversation now U89?!?!?!?!? W-O-W!!!!!

Was I the only one who felt that way?

YES.

not for nothing but it honestly seems to RT that Reno and Frank are kind of goading U89. Seriously...did any of you people REALLY think Curry would beat IC?   NO - Fin - Way (except Gro maybe...)

Seriously...all everyone was talking about was Cortica II. Honestly, the only NEFC 'buzz' was people thinking that Plymouth had a sniff against C'state based on Cortland's weak melt-down against IC at home. RT sincerely was giving P'State a chance and had IC winning this one by 3 TDs.

Oh well...we live and learn. So what did we learn the last few weeks about the east in 2008?

Plymouth St is better than Curry when they play each other..
Cortland is better than Plymouth when they play each other..
Ithaca is better than Cortland when they play each other..
Curry is better than Ithaca when they play each other..

So by the laws of syllogism, MUC will steam roll into the finals where some underdog from WI or MN will beat them

Read my Suprise for the MUC Bracket in ATN from this past Thursday -- I didn't say they'd win, but I was the closest of the four as to what would happen.

Horseshoes and handgrenades Frank...you know RT respects you but, come on.....saying you were the "closest" isn't exactly risk taking analysis. Who else picked DSBs to win besides their players, parents, and coaches (and even that may be a stretch)

Good thing IC/Union starts next year.  I think its good for the LL and the E8.

Since you didn't/couldn't read it...

"I doubt they will win, but enough "smack talk" has been generated for the NEFC teams (Plymouth State and Curry) to at least remain competitive in their games against Cortland and Ithaca.  Will they win?  No.  But they will keep the games respectable."

Both of them did - PSU early on, especially until Cortland finally shook them in the second half.  You know the story with DSB.

so what's your point? You want a pat on the back because you said they'd keep it "respectable" when no one else predicted a win? Come on....

No... you're the one along with MH89 who suggested I didn't give Curry any credit/chance over the last few weeks.  I didn't think they belonged as a Pool C team in the brackets because it sets an ugly precedent for the East Pool C hopefuls that there could be a 2nd NEFC team from now on...but I never counted them out on any of these boards.  I thought they were the stronger over PSU, even with that head-to-head loss back a few weeks ago.  What you're forgetting is the conversation a couple weeks ago about a potential matchup with Curry in an ECAC game and how bad a loss that could be if their opponent (i.e., Union) lost to them.

I called the Curry/SJF game last year and saw a team that played decently early.  It's one of those things in which Curry has to bring their A game and hope that the other team has an off day to win in these circumstances.  Predicting a definite win or definite loss is not something that can be done with ease because of the circumstances of football.  However, when pride is on the line -- and with the amount of negativity around here about them, it most definitely was on the line -- the prospect of a blowout becomes a self-defeating prophecy.

Maybe this is better for the east region though?

Mabye next year the east has three 9-1 teams (from the nefc/LL/e8/njac) and doesnt have to import the south team?

Oddly enough, the NAC actually alleviates a lot of our bracket problems when it becomes a true member of the East Region in a couple years... It will be the sixth auto-bid conference, putting us on equal footing with the North, South and West finally.  I think there's less importation pressure for us when that happens.
