JT

So how does JT drop 13-15 karma w/o a post in 12 days or so.   Anyway...

JT is back in the Dirty.  Wedding and honeymoon went very well, only thing is that JT doesn't feel he got the full Polynesian experience.  The minister was a pasty 4' 10" lady.  Her full name gave the impression that she was native.  JT was hoping for a woman in hula garb or some 350+ lb pound dood with massive tribal tats and a little cloth covering the privates as the officiant.  MJT thinks JT is crazy.  Like she didn't have ample notice.  Too late now.

Still it had traditional Island elements which were cool.  Sunset wedding on the beach with video and photos.  A few sea turtles in the background decided to attend... very cool.  Plans are to have a big party, play the video, and wear our wedding clothes after the economy turns up.

Great game today by the Statesmen--you really put it to the Raiders.  This was, by far, the toughest game they have played all season.  Your team is the real thing.  I would love to see a home and away series after we are done stomping SJF.

Good luck in the off season--see you next year, I hope.

Hey Theaprof...can you recommend a place to stay next Friday night in Alliance?

Thanks.

The Dragons with a fine game and now Pat is eating some dragon crow.  Did Cortland look really bad against Ithaca? Yes.  But I still think that coming into the playoffs they received a lot less respect then they should have.  It seems that people look at one week and change their opinions that they develop of teams over ten weeks.  Ithaca beats Cortland ina  rivalry game and then Curry score a weather aided upset and all of a sudden you pick the team you trashed on your homepage to beat what was once a 9-0 team headed for a #1 seed?  Seem silly to me.  Long day of travel and I am out for the night.  Will see everyone tomorrow.

Call the Cortland Sports office and ask where the team is staying.  Call the hotel and ask for the Cortland team discount as a Cortland student, alum, etc.  Try the Mount Union breakfast buffet before the game.  Great food from pancakes to eggs to burgers.

Although losing by 35 isn't exactly how TGP wanted to see this Bart team go out, he appreciates the congratulations and classy posts from all the OAC, MUC and LL/Eastern fans.  TGP missed most of the game due to travelling back to CA from FLA over the holiday weekend, but was somewhat appeased by reading some of the following commentary post-game (while sipping a couple jack on the rocks after tucking in the wife and kids):

Hobart senior linebacker Justin Hager recorded a game-high 20 tackles, [breaking] his own [single] game record.  He's the only Hobart player to record 20-plus tackles in a game more than once [i.e., this is the second time Hager has eclipsed the 20 tackle mark].  The effort raised his [2008 season] campaign total to 134, five more than Jesse Truley [Bart class of 96]'s 13-year old season record.

If this kid isn't a D3fb.com and NCAA 1st team All-American, it will be a damn shame.  Congrats to #40 on an absolutely outstanding football career (now it's time for Hager to get it going on the Lax field).

The Statesmen rushed for 104 yards, the second highest total against the Raiders this season.

TGP thought to have a chance to win, we'd need to be able to run it, but unfortunately 100+ yards isn't going to cut against a team that can easily crank out 500 yards of offense a week.

The Statesmen are the first team to hold the Raiders scoreless in a quarter other than the fourth (presumably when they let off the gas), while the 14 points mark the fewest for Mount Union in the opening 30 minutes this season.

It could have been a lot more interesting a game if Hobart could have done more with their passing game, but alas no luck.  TGP guesses if you're 42.5 pt underdogs (per the OAC pick em), you can take a lot of pride in shutting out MUC for a 2nd quarter and go into the half only down 14-0.  Would have been interesting if the wheels didn't fall off the bus in the 3rd quarter after Hobart made it 21-7, but TGP can take solace that at least the Statesmen did score a TD on the Raiders (which was equal if not better than 9 of the other teams that MUC beat this season).

The final point, TGP will make is that he appreciated the congratulations (how rare is it that your team gets a congratulatory slap on the back for losing by 35?) from Kmic, Kehres, etc:

"[Hobart] played very good defense," Kmic said. "They were very physical. I got hit pretty hard a couple times.  They had a lot of heart and played tough the whole game.  I give them a lot of credit."

"They were one of the toughest [teams we've faced]," sophomore free safety Chaz Jordan added from the defense's perspective. "They had a big o-line ... they ran the ball hard."

"My compliments to Hobart for bringing a great effort, battling us with everything they had," Mount Union Head Coach Larry Kehres added.

I'd suggest the Holiday Inn Express on West State Street although the team will probably be at the Comfort Inn at what's left of the Canation Mall also on West State. The college is east on State two miles. If your early or have time after the game the Pro Football Hall of Fame is about 12 miles west in Canton and very easy to find.

Lot's of good places to eat out by the motels.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

TGP......#40 was by FAR the best defensive player Mount has seen this year, and one of the best I have ever seen play at this level.  He was in on almost every tackle, and was really the first linebacker that could run sideline to sideline with Kmic.  What an amazing competitor.  Very classy team overall, but mainly were lacking two or three "game-changers" on offense to compete with Mount for four quarters.

so DSB were all color and style, but no real bite.   ;)

Congrats to Hobart on a fine season.  Although I didn't get to see the game, the folks I talked to that were there were impressed with a few things.  First, I've heard nothing but positives about the fans in attendance.  Vocal, proud, and supportive through the whole game.  Second, the team didn't quit.  And third, they all talked about your coach.  Aggressive, unique play calling.  One person even said that he will win a national championship when he has all the players he needs to execute his offense.  Great job all around.
They should have practiced harder.

Good year Bart.  Once again you've done the LL proud.

Thought I would point out all the MUC fans that posted here.  Easy to feel good when you win, but real nice feedback on the game, and overall you guys appear to be a class act in addition to being the class of D3 football.

Good luck the rest of the way.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

JT

Nice job Bart... JT was en route back to the mainland on Saturday.  A little more of a passing game, might have turned this into a close one.

Bart I feel you did the LL proud. Great job!!! You guys should be very proud of yourselves period. I know it may feel rough after a 42-7 defeat but look who it was against. You have earned much respect for your efforts and deserve a lot of credit! Congrats you make me proud to be a LL fan!

I agree. I don't usually agree in moral victory's, but I listened to the entire game and that game was definitely closer than the score indicated. Congrats to Hobart. Goodluck to Cortland next week.

Congrats to 'Bart......U89 figured the offense would struggle a bit.......14-0 at the half and 21-7 half way through the 3rd is truely commendable......thanks for a great year.
