If you haven't read it yet check out "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. Gro read it before Oprah put it on her list. The movie comes out sometime this year... Gro suggests you read the book 1st.

I read the road a few weeks ago and I thought it sucked.  This book is an excuse for 11th grade English teachers to give out something that kids would actually enjoy to read.

In all seriousness, I guess I cant say it really sucked as I kept on reading to find out what will happen, but I thought it was going to be some sort of sci-fi apocolpytic novel with come action. (which I like).  It was more of a family drama set in the future where you never really know where the characters are, what happened, or what will happen.

AJ thought the road was set in present day NJ???

JT saw Marley and Me this weekend.  Good movie, stayed pretty true to the book, but the end is a tough watch for dog lovers.   JT would take a "bad" dog over most people.  Highly recommend, but maybe not for young kids who have never seen a pet put down.  Some little kids in the theater were truly shocked.

JT should I read the book before or after seeing the movie? I pose this question to myself regarding many books and movies (Grisham) and depending on the story line sometimes I make the right choice and sometimes the wrong one. Maybe I a book snob who knows. Any thoughts? By the way Happy New Year to the LLPP!!!!! 2009 the LL sends a team to the Stagg!!! Well maybe not but we will try! Is it me or did Jackson look awful for the Vikes? I agree with an earlier statement that Ravens were only team from this weekend that has a shot.

I love Stephan Marbury on the sidelines. It should be his home forever!!

On the book or movie  chicken-and-egg debate, RT would like to say that in the case of The Perfect Storm, RT did the book first...it made the movie seem 10 times better then had RT not gotten all the background in the book first. RT would think that this would be more the case in "based on true events" movies or documentary type movies. If one thinks there's a fact-based real story behind the movie, RT's opinion is that you pay attention to the finer points of the movie more....

THE Ohio State University clutches defeat from the jaws of victory.  Why they brought the heat with no FS to play last line of defense on that Cosby TD catch was unbelieveable.  UT out coached OSU on that one.

In the post game interview, Cosby said:

Tostitos?  What the flim flam?  Look.  I would like to talk to youuuuuuuuu, about Jell-o pudding!

does any team in the big 12 actually play defense? that is all texas can bring against a very avg. osu team, all these supposed great big 12 teams have struggled when playing against teams that actually play hard defense...to me if the pattern holds pbr hopes everyone took florida in their pools because they will be laying a beatdown on okie in the fake title game. okie st, texas tech, texas all supposed world beaters have looked less than avg when playing run of the mill teams.

For JT, if the book looks interesting he'll read it.  Sometimes its a book that might be a movie.  When JT read Marley, there wasn't a movie in the works.  Usually if JT has seen the movie, he won't read the book.

The Marley book explores more of the day to day and the husband's column.  There is some more funny ish that got compressed out of the movie.  Its a quick read, and can be found discounted on paperback.  I'd recommend reading it.  You'll enjoy both if you are dog person.

This is the part about Harold and Kumar that makes JT a little crazy.  The could have gone for a little accuracy for White Castle locals.  There are no White Castles in South Jersey.  They left an area of Jersey loaded with White Castles in order to go 1hr+ South where there aren't any WC's.

Should have put them in South Jersey and sent them North.  

Drives MJT nuts, especially when they hit Princeton cause they are within 10 miles of two WC's.  JT starts going.  "The f*cking White Castles are right HERE!!!"

On second thought... maybe JT is just crazy.
