I agree with PBR.  Baseball is off my radar.  And A-rod is just a joke.

until baseball releases that list of all the 600-700 players tested in 2003 and who tested positive every record in baseball imho is worthless....pbr has to think the only reason they arent releasing it is because so many top players tested positive and they have no idea what to do about it. otherwise the players and owners would be out showing everyone the list/results and screaming from the mountaintops  what a clean game baseball is....

Anyone watch the A-Rod interview w/ Peter Gammons on www.espn.com? (or on Sportscenter)

IMO it's pathetic. Why doesn't he just tell the real truth as to why he took them....he's the highest paid player in history with astronomical expectations on them playing a competitive game for a living with a bullseye on his back from opposing pitchers, fans, and the media in general. Obviously, the dude sucummbed to the pressure and felt he needed that extra edge to justify all the money and hype around that contract. Seriously...why else would someone take that stuff at that level...kind of a no-brainer.  Listening to his interview where he tries to sound naive to it all, talking about 2001-03 as a "loosey-goosey time" and trying to tell Gammons he didn't know what he was taking. Right....wtf does that mean, anyway??..."loosey-goosey"?? Sounds to RT that instead of fessing up and admitting "Yes, i got caught and it wasn't illegal then so what do you want from me", he tries to deflect it and blame it on the times....ie, a kind of implied "Hey, everyone was doing it (bonds, palmiero, mcgwire, etc).   What a toolbox....

Right on RT. Baseball is beginning to make me sick with these bitches.

Arod: "The truth will set you free."

Dlippiel: : "Only becuase you got caught you cornhole."

I know Arod could crush me on his bicep but did anyone expect that voice to come from him? He has the voice of a 10 year old boy seemingly apporpriate for his maturity level.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/feb/09/16-illegals-sue-arizona-rancher/

"Attorneys for the immigrants - five women and 11 men who were trying to cross illegally into the United States - have accused Mr. Barnett of holding the group captive at gunpoint, threatening to turn his dog loose on them and saying he would shoot anyone who tried to escape."

Isn't the key word here illegally? How can non US citizen sue anyone especially when they were being caught in an illegal act? You think things can't get worse or more ass backwards and then stuff like this keeps coming out. Needless to say my comments must stop here because they would get OOC real quick!!

He admitted to additional years 01-02.  He didn't have to do that.  JT thought he was sincere about how long he did them, but not that he didn't know what he was taking. And JT believes that A-Rod has cursed the Yanks, so he's not the biggest fan.

The best quote JT heard about the steroid era was, "Imagine you are traveling from NYC to LA by car.  Speed limit is 65.  You will get an additional $50K for each hour earlier you arrive then scheduled.  There will not be any speed traps during your trip.  How fast would you drive?"

The people running the country now have already given them subprime mortgages.  They also want to give them amnesty, driver's licenses, health care, college educations (scholarships, grants, and loans), and the right to vote.  The people in charge are also against requiring these immigrants to assimilate and learn English.

Welcome to Hope and Change.  Just make sure you tell your grandkids how great America was.

KS wants to know why MLB held on to the results of what was supposed to be an anonymous test done as a survey to determine if further testing would be allowed.  The players union went along because it was supposed to be anonymous.  MLB is going to have a real hard time getting any more concessions from the players now.

KS heard a good comparison on Mike and Mike.  Golic asked how about if you were asked to fill out a confidential questionaire for work.  In this you were guaranteed that there would be no discipline and the results would never be released.  In this questionaire you admitted to smoking pot and snagging some office supplies.  Now five years later all of a sudden everyone knows you admitted to smoking pot and stealing.

KS really doesn't care about steriods in baseball, let the idiots do what they want, entertain me.  Steriods in professional sports is like herion in rock and roll, almost everyone does it at some time, so what, perform.

I was awake at about 1:00am EST.  I logged on to see if there were any lurkers on the board and I was the only one here.  Alas, I don't have an alibi, but I swear on an illegal alien's buttocks that I did not do any sniping.

bman

Kirasdad...

In Bman's eyes you are beyond suspicion, (even though you are a Mt fan!)...

Bman's opinion on the steriods is this:
It wasn't against the rules then....so if you took it, you weren't a violator of any policy...

a lesser MAN than others...YES
lesser moral character....YES
a CHEATER ....yes

Baseball has always been a game that has embraced cheating, as long as it didn't go too far...Look at Rollie Fingers etc...

to quote MLB pitcher Tom House in the 60's, "we didn't get beat...we got out milligrammed"...that was in the 60's!

While it wasn't steorids, it was something else....and MLB ALWAYS looked away.

Bman's issue is with the media....
1. prosecute the person that leaked this...
2.  stop with the stupid useless interviews....what do you expect them to do....(other than spin control) where you set them up to be the good guy again...

I have no respect for Gammons after that interview....

If BMan had a national forum, he would repeat this quote (not sure who made it...)
"Everyone tries to define this thing called Character. It's not hard. Character is doing what's right when nobody's looking."

JT's didn't check, but that sounds like John Wooden.

I HATE A-Rod, however, I think him admitting using was a very wise decision.  They call out these 'Witch Hunts' of Bonds and Clemens.  It's because they won't admit it and they are cowards.  Giambi?  No one cares anymore.  Petitte?  No one cares anymore.  People will care about A-Rod, but atleast he admitted it.  It's a huge step.

Now that being said, I hate hearing about it not being 'illegal' in major league baseball.  Yes, they weren't banned substances, but aren't steroids illegal in general?  Steroids have been frowned upon in sports wayyyy before 2000.  Just because MLB didn't have a policy doesn't make it right.  However, admitting it was the right thing to do.

Should Clemens be in the HOF?  Yes.
Should Maguire be in the HOF?  Yes.
Should Bonds be in the HOF?  Yes.
Should A-Rod be in the HOF?  Yes.

These guys would have been Hall of Famers before they hit the sauce.  Unfortunately, their legacy is shattered now because they were selfish scumbags.

I do NOT believe steroids improve your hand eye coordination to the extent that you all of sudden are an incredible athlete.  I've seen plenty of bean heads who can pick cars up with one arm, that are the worst athletes known to man.  That talent was there well before the juice kicked in.  It's such a vicious circle though, because the juice just made them more healthy at times when the others were maybe tired or injured or sore or hungover, or had huge weeners to carry around, instead of little baby carrot sticks...

I think Pete Rose is a Hall of Famer too.  Just because he gambled on games does NOT take away from his numbers.  Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Cy Young, those guys were scum bags.  No one has a problem with them in the Hall of Fame.

I think they will let Petey in someday.
