if they all get in LD then pete rose should get in...

I think Pete Rose is a Hall of Famer too.  Just because he gambled on games does NOT take away from his numbers.  Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Cy Young, those guys were scum bags.  No one has a problem with them in the Hall of Fame.

I think they will let Petey in someday.

So if he gambled against his team and threw games, would you vote him in since that wouldn't have effected his numbers?

If he gambled against his team it would have affected his numbers negatively.  How much?  Who knows for sure but he might not be Petey Hustle, he might be Petey Jog To Third Instead of Diving From Shortstop.

I meant when Rose was just coaching and not playing.  I mean Im sure if Rose never gambled but went 20-200 as a manager he would have still gotten in as a manager.

This whole hall of fame thing is about money and image for these guys when they are done playing baseball.  I heard that HOF guys get hundreds of thousands of dollars in endorsments and other promotional crap that the non-HOF guys don't get.

I don't think some of these guys care if they are on a list of "the best players" ever, because they know they are.  Its that whole crappy HOF mystique that they want.

Although Bman does not agree with all of LDs comments, his point is that cheating has been going on in baseball since it's inception...the methods have become more sophisticated, the impact on on the player's physique is greater...but it's all relative to each age...

tru dat it is true that cheating has been going on in Baseball forever but I just get pissed about how much money these cornholes make and how many free passes they get. I honestly don't give a **** what a-rod or your friendly neighborhood McGuire puts into his body. I just give a **** when they get to do something obviously wrong, get caught, laugh, make another million, and then get into the HOF ( that's really the only repercussion we can give them is to take away the HOF like in McGuire's case) ya know? To me that parallels some really messed up ****. I mean years ago ball players didn't make this much money, most worked other jobs in the off-season. I to see some of doggs point, I just want to say FU to these guys for doing something wrong the only way I and/or we can. Aside from HOF they are really untouchable. Look at Vick dude will be (if he is not already) in a half-way house by the end of this month. As a teacher I can only think about what would happen to me for doing half of that. I guess I am soap boxing a bit. **** wonder why?

JT doesn't think McGuire belongs in the HOF.  He's Dave Kingman w/o the riods.

ESPN has really become more of a marketing tool and ad driver for the major sports, than a serious news agency anyway....
Their website is a joke (more ads than sports, and their coverage is little more than rhetoric...props to Van Pelt for having an opinion....maybe they should have suspended Gammons for that joke of an interview he did with A-Roid...I am wondering if the Yankees paid for that....

LD, are you inviting Reg to a, "Party in your pants?".........

Did Gro put you up to this?

Kind of random but Boston.com just put up the higest paid people on the MA payroll.  Umass head football coach Don Brown makes $232,587.  I was kind of suprised it was that high for some reason.  Makes me wonder how much the Harvard head coach makes.

I also didn't know professors made this much (in state money).  Ah well, heres the list:

It will survive just w/o Mel Karmazin.  People aren't buying cars so subs are way down.  Someone's got tell Howard he ain't worth 100 million a year.

That chick who had the 8 babies recently is a disgusting swine.....the Dr. who fertilized her should also be shot with one of JT's high powered rifles.
