let it snow ....let it snow...let it snow.... havent had a decent storm like this in 3 years, coming down like a big dawg...pbr is off to elk mtn. tomorrow to test the 2010 ski models for salomon and k2  and give feedback...conditions should be prime

Great for skiers... bad for people who hate snow.

pbr working from the home office...very nice since pbr's work started the work from home option. rolled out of bed and downstairs and brewed up some dunkin donuts java and its all good. pbr actually gets more done at home as the phone doesnt ring non stop.   pbr is a HUGE fan of snow so when the manufacturers asked for feedback on next years models pbr saw the possibility last week of a coastal storm and prime conditions jumped on the oppourtunity...time to rip on some twin tips and big carving models and report back to the reps at the mountain tomorrow. should be fun....man is it snowing hard.

PBR-

What is the work from home option?  Why would employers hope to gain by doing this if it's on a day to day basis?  It's not like they don't need the space, since you could come in at any point.  It's not like they can make 3 less meatball subs.

Help me understand.

basically they do it to help the employee...on bad weather days or days you have a dr appt/dentist etc. or maybe have to have some kind of maintenance done to your home they allow you to work from home. basically its all good as long as you dont abuse the option. since they realized some people were burning vaca days doing this its a perk for the employees as long as they done abuse it. also they realized probably that some people were just calling out sick to have things done so they figured lets be adults about this and as long as people dont work from  home 360 days a year we will start a program to work from home if you have some valid reason

Shower + getting dressed + commuting to office = biggest waste of time (3-4 hours of productivity per day)

JT is home too. And typically gets more work done.  The social grabass that goes on at work, doesn't exist at home.

So, a workers productivity is directly proportional to the amount of stank eminating off his body. Got it.

It's science.

When the wife is working at home too, stank is frowned upon.  So is scratching, farting, and eating that cheeto that fell into your belly button.

Not wearing pants = increased productivity.

Gro, you work in a plant, a little different story...and you're guys usually are plentiful in stank anyway...

However, my point is this, I rolled out of bed today at 7.  Was working by 7:08.  Went to Dunkin Donuts for a coffee at 8:15, was back at 8:20.  Went to the gym at 12:45, was back by 2.  I'm gonna take a nice shower now, eat my lunch, and work for maybe 2 more hours.  I had an extremely productive work day and without the stress of traffic, office BS and meeting my hours on a time card.  Probably did about 4x the work as most monkeys sitting in front of the time stamp box from 4:41 waiting until it hits 5 oclock, or the smoker who burns 15 minutes/hr smoking a butt out the back door...or others not fitting either of those categories bored at work for 3 hours/day, because they are actually productive the rest of the time.

Gro hears ya LD, just jealous that as long as Gro stays in the current career path, gro will never get to enjoy the home office.

I can complete things that would take 2 hours in the office in about 30min on the laptop sitting infront of the TV with a quiznos sub on hand.

LD- I understand the whole productivity thing, however, there are certain people that can't work from home the way others can.  I just wanted to know if PBR's place of work was trying to set the trend for the "new workplace" (which is going to be a reality one of these days)

Think of how much money companies would waste if they told everyone that it's fair game to work at home all the time, even if others could knock out 15 emails while finishing their quizno's prime rib & peppercorn ranch

Well obviously not everyone can do it.  Most people can't because they don't have the discipline.  But, my thought is, when you have the right people in higher level positions with more responsibility, it shouldn't matter where your desk is, or which exact hours you work if your customers are happy, your work gets done, and you produce.

I hate offices so much.  I cringe at the day that i'll have to return to one.
