And as TGP, PBR and others have pointed out (As good or bad as it is) lax has caught on fire across the country and this might mean the fall of traditional powers such as Hobart.  Back in the 1980s and 1990's, the Syracuse or Long Island area public school kid might have started playing lax in 4th grade and they would stay close to NY and go to a Cuse or Hobart.  The same would go for the NE prep school kid that started in 7th grade.

Today, kids all over the country in Texas, CA, Fla and the midwest start playing in these young instructional leagues.  They are less likely to attend and load up Hobart like what happened pre 1999.

So instead of Hobart, Cuse and Cornell loading up on these kids from close to home, you might see the rise of other programs like Ohio State, and southern schools.

And of course if these schools can make money off them (I wonder if even the top d1 schools make money), you can bet more d1 schools will add lax (and of course add womens lax)

Your analysis is dead-on.  Out West most college lax teams were still club sports, but once they become varsity, it's all over.  ASU recruits kids from Long Island even though it is only club and the kids actually have to pay to be on the team.  The draw for a kid to say he plays for a huge school is undeniable.  The club teams have their own leagues and championships, etc.  As far as these kids were concerned they played lax for ASU whether the school supported them or not.  Once those schools offer scholarships to the out-of-staters, the geographical shift you mentioned will become even more apparent.

The thing that will change in the West is the coaching staff. Right now university club teams are coached by former players who stick around the area.  When these teams go D-I, The Rev expects places like Hobart and Syracuse to supply truly qualified coaching staff.

Looks like Jimmy Buffet is getting the naming rights to Dolphins Stadium, or should KS say "Landshark Stadium."

I hope the first game includes Chevy Chase in a foam shark outfit.

In other news, the Left-wing Circus is coming to Alfred!

And how appropriate that the Green Fest will be centered on the Village Green!! Life in Alfred...first we were dying for the the international obituary writers to come, and now folks look at Alfred as a place where the grass is always greener....where do we go from here?

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

P.S. Someone needs to teach The Rev how to embed video.

RE: PGA

So, I have been watching rounds and rounds of the PGA tour over the last few weeks and I have a rant for the LLPP.

The phrase "Get in the HOLE!" is literally making me insane.  Off tee shots "get in the hole", an iron out of 4" rough "get in the hole", a 47 foot putt "get in the hole".......Seriously!!!  The ball isn't gong in the hole, why would you cheer for something, which is impossible on a par 5 532 yard hole, for the ball to go in on that shot?  Ususally it is for Tiger....did he patent this phrase or something?  Are these legitimate fans or heckelers?

Am I missing something?

RE: Nascar
I really enjoy Nascar and watching the race.  A few things are going to lose them some popularity though.
#1- Digger.  What started out funny has now turned into this sick joke that is both incredibly annoying and not even a little funny.  I would rather watch 5 mins of the truck with the huge debris blower drive around the track.
#2- DVR.  These melon farmers "start" the race (which consists of 4 hours of pregame) and then end it 6 hours later.  EVERY freaking race ends 30 mins past the time the DVR stops recording.  One of two things need to happen.  #1- Extend the race time an extra hour.  #2- make my DVR automatically extend the recording time. #3- stop doing the 4 hours of pregame and just start the race already.  #4- Instead of calling a caution for every piece of debris and car that runs a flat tire, just take the pacecar and pick up the debris and let the car with a tire down drive out of the way!

Next topic, Danica Patrick....and Nascar.

Reg, I don't know if your entire DVR can record more than 4 hours at a time, but Ive had that happen to me on other shows on certain days.  You can record the show that is scheduled to be on after the race and then the end of the race will get recorded.

Is this serious?  Are we talking NASCAR?  LLPP officially is being boycotted by LD11 until further notice.  What a disgrace...

Agreed.   Heard somewhere this was started by the idiots who attend the FBR in Phoenix.  What started as a few drunk people "speaking up" on the 16th hole there has morphed into what you hear nearly every weekend.

Having said that... the FBR is very fun --- but is an event that I had to piece together what happened on the previous day/night.
