No consequences?  He went to prison.  Federal prison.  Federal Pound me in the Ass Prison.  Also, that little stopover in the clink cost him millions and millions of dollars and likely deprived his heirs of an even greater sum of money.

But you're right.  That is a slap on the wrist.

Yes I am because:

1.) he was a ****ing celebrity in the can
2.) he makes more money than you or dlippiel combined right now...nice sarcasm :o

I have luckily never been incarcerated but my profession has, on ocassion, required me to spend some time in prisons meeting with inmates and I can confidently say there is nothing that could make that experience tolerable or ok.  Celebrity or not.  It's prison.  There is only one consequence worse than that.

dlippiel hears ya and it makes sense what your saying. Maybe dlippiel shouldn't sugar coat the prisoon experience Vick may have had. Yet dlippiel always said he deserves another shot at life, he did put his time in. He just does not deserve another shot at being a millionaire for playing a game he loves. Now that is not a consequence, bet on animal fighting, kill animals, get to be a millionaire again and play the game i love because I served time in the pen. Why should Vick get that second chance when you or dlippiel, or other professionals would not if we did what he did? How is that O.K.? Why can a professional athlete commit an awful time and get their job back like it is nothing? That is bull****.

Prison?  Prison?  We talkin bout prison?  We not even talkin bout games, we talkin bout prison???

So anyway, dlip, he had the dog operation in his personal life.  He didn't sacrifice a dog on the 50 yard line at halftime.  He didn't make it rain in a dog strip club with guns hookers bookies and drugs, 18 times.  He probably became a wide receiver in the joint.

Let him give football another try.  If he stays out of trouble, is a good citizen, and doesn't royally suck, let him go on.  I guarantee if he looks at a dog the wrong way, eats a hot dog, listens to snoop dog, or goes at it doggy style with a lady, Goodell will have his nuts in a clamp.  He is basically now on a 1 strike, not even, 1 check swing and you're gone.  They aren't just dropping dump trucks of cash at his front door quite yet.  Everything he makes here on out will be by being a good citizen.

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say that dlip is a hardcore Republican.

Hey now LD, no hasty generalizing here.  ;)   I'm a pretty hardcore Republican and I think that Vick is a loathsome piece of crap who might have gotten off lightly, but ... he served his time, he's lost millions of bucks in salary and endorsements, and he's done everything that the NFL and the law have required of him. If some team (in this case the Eagles) wants to sign him and he is able to play at the NFL level then he should be allowed that opportunity.

Does it make me a bad person if I said I might consider paying money to see a cop beat up a bum???

Ya know, i've been re-thinking that one, and if they actually sold tickets to the open market for that, cops might make a lot more $$$.

Well you guys have heard all the trouble with the shocktown P.D. Just come to shocktown and watch the news you won't even have to pay. pa it would only if you bet on the cop to win and the bum kicked his ass!

If you take sports out of our culture, the economy of the country would be as close to a third world country as it gets.  Think about it:

1.  Athletes' jobs (a lot of these guys wouldn't be changing the world for the better)
2.  Income from ticket sales, apparel, food at the stadiums, paraphranelia(?), etc
3.  Jobs of the workers at the stadiums, team doctors, maintenance security, etc
4.  Bookies
5.  Las Vegas
etc, etc etc...

These guys that they put out on a field make so much money go around in this country, they are worth the $$$ that they get.  I think there should be some limits for sure.  Things have gotten a out of control, but for the most part, they earn what they make.  I wish I had their job, just like Union guys wish they had my job ,just like Ithaca guys wish they had Union guys' jobs, just like Cortland guys wish they could read.  It's science.

+k to dogg! It is just interesting how hearing differing points of view make one think. Good discussion! dlippiel was on the east region poll board. Watch out for the U guys dlippiel feels this 09 squad should not be underated. By the way dlippiel's old man and him drove out to Troy the other day and looked at the stadium, which is now almost complete. ****! Very nice! dlippiel and pop saw Bob Ford (UAlbany coach) yelling from the top of the press box, "state schools just suck!"

Bob Ford must not know the people Dan McNeil knows.

JU is planning on going to the LSU/Arkansas football game on 11/28/09 and then go to the Pats/Saints on 11/30/09.

Anyone ever been to an LSU game?  LLPP has Northeastern roots, but I know someone on here knows someone that can help me out with LSU tickets if it comes down to it.

It looks like the prices aren't too bad right now online, but Im fired up for that game.  92,000 at the games!  Gumbo!  Bourbon!  Shrimp!  JU is getting fired up, someone light the lamp!

LSU games are even more fun than you can imagine.

I have access to some Florida-LSU tickets but not the Arkansas game.

Get there as early as possible and make time to tour the tailgates.  Those guys know how to do it right.  Right in the top three of tailgate traditions with Ole Miss (never been but heard) and Florida.

PBR...

He got a heavier sentence than most of us would have for the same crime.  He did his time in Leavenworth for Gods sake, probably the toughest or in the top 3 for the federal pens.
He has served his time, he deserves to make a living in his chosen profession.  It is up to the NFL and teams to hire him, the Eagles hired him and are taking the risk.

One of the best things about most SEC games is that the fans tend to mingle during the tailgates and are not confrontational.  There are some exceptions (UF-Tenn) but otherwise, it makes the party that much bigger pre-game.
