ahhh!  Gro is dying to chime in... got a meeting... hold these "privilage" thoughts. You can tell where I'm going with this...

Its funny, there is a Red Sox bar (The baseball Tavern right near Fenway Park) that is an LSU football bar during football season.  No one goes to this bar outside of redsox season except for a few locals and LSU alums that now live in Boston.  Its wierd, there is usually like 100 or so LSU fans that go to this Boston bar to watch these games.  Im sure Florida Gator fans have some other bar in Boston that they go to as well.

But I have no worries about confrontations at the game Jose.  I plan on getting some LSU gear anyway but Im sure to have some Boston gear on to spread some culture.  And the deep south is one place in the country where I always get along with everybody.  Different world down there.  Southerners can be a little goofy at times (see jorts and overalls) but they are the best people in this country.

I might even have to ship down some pots and pans to start up my own New England Clam Chowder stand at the tailgate.

Just a warmup.  -3 over Arizona seemed like gimmie.  Tied 3-3 late in the third. Oh well.  JT is a successful wagerer over the season.  He's up on baseball and the WNBA.  Can't wait for NBA and NFL.  If JT ever figures out a formula for the ponies, he'll retire.

and so how much did JT enjoy the 4th Quarter?

Undefeated again?

Brady's footwork is sick.  It looks like Brady is back... and alot faster than Carson Palmer was from his own ACL surgery.

Was at a townhall this morning.  Miss all these posts.  JT was thinking Arizona would score a TD on 4th down with seconds left and JT would get his money back on a push.  Pushes drive JT nuts.  But the Steelers pulled it out.

Taking the Jets -3 tonight.

JU is planning on going to the LSU/Arkansas football game on 11/28/09 and then go to the Pats/Saints on 11/30/09.

Anyone ever been to an LSU game?  LLPP has Northeastern roots, but I know someone on here knows someone that can help me out with LSU tickets if it comes down to it.

It looks like the prices aren't too bad right now online, but Im fired up for that game.  92,000 at the games!  Gumbo!  Bourbon!  Shrimp!  JU is getting fired up, someone light the lamp!

a sat. night game at baton rouge is on pbr's bucket list....and would like to go see florida/georgia/bama play a sat. night at lsu would be sweet...been pushing people to get psu to do a home/home game w/ lsu so pbr can check that one off the list

One of the best things about most SEC games is that the fans tend to mingle during the tailgates and are not confrontational.  There are some exceptions (UF-Tenn) but otherwise, it makes the party that much bigger pre-game.

whats crazy is state college, pa becomes the 3rd largest city in pa. on saturdays in the fall behind philly and pitts....estimated 100,000 tailgaters come to the stadium and just tailgate all weekend w/ no tickets! most have satellite dishes and tailgate and watch the game on tv outside the stadium w/ the roar of the crowd. its nuts cant tell u how many times pbr has tailgated w/ people who always say how lucky pbr is to have tickets and they are just there to tailgate and have a good time. crazy 111,000 go inside the stadium and another 100,000+ stay outside and just party

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say that dlip is a hardcore Republican.

JT's a conservative and he thinks Vick deserves another shot.  He can also see the fit with the iggles.  He's a younger, healthier version of McNabb.  You don't need to change the offense much if Vick become the #2.  If McNabb gets banged up, Vick has the ability to similar things.  Whether he does depends upon how quickly he shakes off the rust.

PBR...

crazy good stuff on the llpp today...light it up u crazy cats

As long as Pittsburgh covers JT doesn't care.

JT?  Wagering on a preseason game?  Maybe we could hold an LL Intervention?  We should have our own show, like Intervention on tv, but have all the LL DR's show up to smack some sense into fools...Docuhenami..nice..LD11 like Coors Light.

JT does it for the money.  He doesn't care about the teams when he bets.  He even bet against the Yankees when it looks right.

Listen, we all want say that professional athletes are "just playing a game" and that their livelyhood is a privilege... but it's really not the case. They are getting paid because they are the best at what they do which equates to millions of dollars for them as well as the owners. The NFL, more than any other pro sport in the USA, is one heartless biatch. Contracts are not guarunteed and 80% of the players are easily replaced by the next guy on the depth chart or in college. The average NFL career is about 4 years? And the ones that do play for years on end usually end up as crippled old men (not as bad now as it used to be).

is it fair that they get paid more than teachers and (ahem) engineers? Not from our perspective, but in the grand scheme of things it's totally fair.

RE: Vick Discussion

I am a teacher and agree that Vick deserves another chance.  Yes, if I did what he did then I would probably never teach again.  But teaching is one of a few jobs where your personal life can affect your professional life in that way.  Pro athlete is not.

Also, I find it funny that dlippiel found the need to put *** in words like ****ing and other curses but was ok typing out the words ****sucker and ***hole (I added the *** he didn't).  LOL   :D

My point was that pre-season games are not really 'games' to the coaching staffs.  I would never put money on the outcome of a 'game' where one (or both) coaching staffs have winning far down their list of priorities (if they even care at all).  (But then, you never do seem to get my point! ::) ;D)

[Do you also bet on Grapefruit (or Cactus) League 'games', which are often even split-squad? :o]

Not to rag on you guys, because I love this board, but I found something interesting in the way Kickoff sales have gone so far -- Union last year was in our top 10 among schools' fan bases for sales and so far this year: Zero.

If you know Union fans, just spread the word a bit. That's all I hope for. Somewhere in the Top 100 would be cool.

Won't talk about RPI fans. Union fans win that battle every year. :)

NFL players are modern day gladiators... they deserve every penny they can squeeze out of their careers.

JT has played HS... and has done the chains in D1 and the Pros.

D1 is a lot faster then DIII, and the pros are scary fast.  The torque and energy expended by and into pro bodies is like a car accident. Or multiple car accidents every game.

consider gro's arm twisted... kickoff purchased. That $10 is less purple drank that I don't need anyway.

Note to LLPP: DO NOT do a google image search for "twist my arm"... seriously WTF?

Sometimes bets look good even in pre-season.  BTW I'd never bet against my teams in the playoffs.  And I declare my winnings.  I don't need the hassle.
