JT

Fiancee's Xmas bling arrived via Fed Ex.  Passed the office female test with flying colors.  JT is ready to party happily  8)

Xmas bling.......

Bobby remembers those days, jewlery, trips, shows,  all were good for x-mas.

Now, the x-mas gifts revolve around the house.  This year Mrs Boucher will be getting a sectional couch for the basement to go along with bobbys 60" HDTV.  Both to be bought shortly after other x-mas bills have been off and income tax return check comes in.

Any suggestions on the HDTV?  It appears that Sony has cornered the market, or paid off all of the reviewers.

Any reason why you are stuck on a rear projection?....How much are you looking to drop?

There are a ton a sweet deals online.

Give the LLPP corp some parameters here.

JT

Thanks to the LLPP, JT was the hit of Fiancee's Xmas party.  Cool but refined, shop talk required a shot (props to Gro).  Mingled with the 2 minute rule.  Did the boogie nights dance to KC and the Sunshine band.  Rocked the house.

Pre knee sprain. Props to the men of the LLPP.  Happy holiday's to all.

Reg - It's gotta be thin (+/- 20 inches) to fit down the basement stairs.  Bobby made the mistake of not building in the bilco doors down into the basement so everything has to fit down the L shaped stairwell.  It does not however have to be wall mounting thin since it will be placed in a corner.

It appears to bobby that this rules out the older, yet cheaper technology and by default kicks me into the $2500 to $3500 market automatically, ie LCD's & DLP's

Have not seen plasma at that size, so don't know if it is available.

Size range 55 to 60 inches +/-
$ Ceiling - $4000

DLP is the way to go for your circumstance.
Last week, WOOT had an InFocus 61" DLP Ultra-Thin HDTV with Accessory Kit for $2500 +$5 shipping.

That was a sweet deal (especially since you would be wasting money buying an LCD or Plasma.) (a 50" plasma would cost you over $7K and 50" LCD is close to that)

A projector may also be a viable option (depending on how windows you have in your basement)

Reg recommends you don't buy until you find a someone online giving a tv away.  with a quick search, Reg came up with this

Cat11 Holiday travel tip that everybody already knows

Cat11 says that only a fool tries to fly on Southwest this close to Christmas.  Fool that does, deserves to get what is coming.  Cat11 is said fool.  Cat11 hates delayed flight and is hoping Dawg can share tip on how to throw perfect left hook while holding a (cell phone) in right hand.  Cat11 may hate 'loud cell phone guy' more than delayed flight.

Reg - Thanks for the help, couple follow-up questions for you

Why DLP?

With respect to different manufacturers, Bobby has no problem staying away from sony and their mass marketing products.  However, do you have a preference on manufacturers?  Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Phillips, Sony...... Or are they all to the point where the bobbys of the world can not tell the difference?

......200......
Bobby thought a good celebration for #200 would be a little FSU Cowgirl action.

RT has a 53" Samsung LCD HDTV. It's 17" wide, has built in wheels and weighs about 80 pounds. It's sweet....AND I negotiated the guy at best buy down to $1499 at the end of a month and got 18 months 0% financing at Best Buy. Baby is da bomb.

ENGAGEMENT WEEK UPDATE:

THUR:  RT goes to Texas AM/Auburn hoop game w/ fiance and FILs. RT being extra careful to not stare at all the college hotties. However, RT was surprised to see one notoriously fat "dance girl" on the A&M squad. She was out there, half shirt and tight pants, in all her glory as part of the team. It was criminal how fat she was....aren't these girls supposed to be hot??

RT is now known as the "big eater" in the family. RT can't help it but has been devouring FMIL (funny that you can get 'MILF' out of that but doesn't apply here) cooking. Chili, burritos, pot roast...RT is in a culinary extravaganza. Should RT refrain and eat like a waif or should he be himself and shock the family by eating like the former D3 standout hog that he is???

Even though Reg has the Sony plasma, he will be the first one to tell you that brand rarely makes a difference.  Reg would wander down to the local Best buy to see for yourself.

I am sure what RT negotiated down was a "open box" TV....right?  Bobby, Reg highly recommends you move this route...they once brought a tv down to $50 over store invoice for regulator, go to a guy who knows what he is talking about after you find the tv you like....and just ask him to see the store price in the computer.  (Reg also opted for the 4 year service plan (if they come to your house 3 times for any reason with the TV, they replace it for free with something of equal value))

Reg suggested DLP, bc rear projection is outdated.  It is HUGE and if you want to spend over $2000 the only way to go is DLP.

CAT11-  The only thing more annoying to regulator than the LCG is the person that doesn't silence their phone...(actually they are on par with each other).....Hit the freaking button!!!...you took the phone out of your pocket to see who was calling....hit the drop button!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHH!

RT-  This sounds like a random family....why are you so worried about making a great impression?  Why is Fiance so worried about it? A year back when REg went to his FIL's house....all he did was drink...all day...I took down about 2 cases of Michelob Ultra (FFIL's choice of brew) in 4 days!  Do you man...it sounds like you are running scared around the house.  The only thing you may want to avoid is palming of the booty.  That may leave a nasty taste in the FIL's mouth.
As far as I'm concerned She's fair game....LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!...>WEYYYOOOOOOO..>WEYYYOOOOO!!!
