Since KS will be busy tomorrow.

November 11 is the day set aside to honor all Veterans of the Armed Forces of United States of America living and dead.  While we remember our fallen comrades who have paid the ultimate price today is also to thank our living Veterans for their service to our great nation.  Here is wishing all veterans a happy Veterans Day and many more and thank you for all you have done and all you are doing.

Gentlemen,

I share your concerns, and never understand why they don't just eat the 2 cents (well, actually, I do, having worked in retail my adult life, cashiers are programmed not to think). I think the bigger issue is, why do pennies still exist? Hell, I'd even eliminate the nickel. Dime's can stay for a while, but their time is short in my mind as well.

But the real question is, what are you guys doing still using cash?

Doid are you that guy using your debit card for a $2 cup of coffee?  That takes just as long.

Not a time issue, just don't like carrying around coins. Just too easy to swipe my card, and avoid the coin/bill/ receipt put away hassle, since I'm OCD like Gro when it comes to bills.

'gro

Good to see Gro has company in his mental illness. Went to the bank before the vegas trip to withdraw a few hundo from the account. Woman starts peeling me off $20's.

Gro: Whoa, uh, can I have that in $100's or $50's?
Woman: Why?
Gro: Because I want to be able to fold my wallet.

She was pissed at me for asking that!

I know how phenomenally great MUC is, but I feel like that's all I read about these days in the East Region.  Can we put a moratorium on mentioning MUC here until the regular season is over.

In other words, F*** and Dlip MUC.

(you classy MUC posters, you're cool, don't take it personally)

I don't know about all this, but I have to admit I've been watching this stupid show about witches called Eastwick and two of the three are high level I'd do nasty things to her (one is Rebecca Romjain, or however its spelled, so that one is obvious even if she is married to Jerry OConnell, but the other is this tasty little brunette).

JU she was hoping you would just dump all the change back into the tip jar. That's how they DLIP ya. Gro hates paying with cash and they give you the receipt and/or bills then dump the change on top. If you don't catch it correctly the bills act like a slip and slide and you've got coins flying everywhere.

Gro is correct- they are doing that for the tips.

I absolutely feel the same way about all that stuff....seriously...leave a empty dish by the register and I would bet people figure out the whole give one take one without you having to put any effort into it.  Of course that may mean that you don't get a 4 cent tip on top of your $7.25 hr wage.....but that's what they invented college for.

On that subject, if I see one more tip jar sitting on the bar of a wedding with open bar that HAS ALREADY PAID THE 20%, I am going to grind it up in little pieces of glass and feed it to the bartender, then make the owner cut the bride and groom a check for the amount they prepaid.

Reg I hear ya on the open bar thing, but are we sure that the bartenders get the 20% and not the catering company?
Do you honestly think I care who gets the 20%?
If it's not enough for the bartenders, then don't take the gig....quit...go make 1/4 the money pushing paper as an office temp.
It comes across all cheesy and cheap to have a tip container on the bar.  Plus the family is only asked to pay 20%...if you need more in order to cover your stoopid employees, just ask for it.  Noone wants to dig through their pockets for a couple bucks the 23 times I hit up the bar during the night.

New ATR East is posted! Playoff scenarios!

Interesting to see Jameison Crast doing well with Morrisville.  He was Doug Vella's main competition as FR last year to be Rich Doyle's backup.

Man, between Chris Rose, Preston Earl and now Crast, I sure hope Cragg made the right call on this one and Vella evolves into the second coming of Strom.  Otherwise, he's possibly gambled away three years worth of football.

Good line.

Whoa, easy there on the assumptions. Especially in this economy. If you're working in food service or retail, that doesn't automatically mean you're uneducated. I took a second job in retail for three years to help make ends meet after some personal $h!t went down.

I'll go easy on assumptions, but let's be real....I haven't worked for minimun wage since I was under legal working age....you expect me to believe that it is acceptable to do it now?
One assumption I will make is that if you are educated and working retail, that you should have no problem working your way up in the organization....not punching keys or flipping burgers.

I certainly hope you didnt come to this thread for sympathy.

No....you worked in retail because you graduated from Susquehanna.

Sorry Grove, wrong week to say you worked in retail.

I can vouch for 'Doid on this one....even back in the late 80's (before debit cards), 'Doid didn't carry ANY cash when we would go to the liquor store.
