That's why KS waited until he was in his thirties to attend college, so he could legally pick up chicks half his age.  It's good to be a dirty old man.

The Rev got thinking about something while taking his first dump of the New Year this morning.  (the Rev does all of his best thinking on the pot.)

The Rev requested a song last night on the Karaoke machine that was popular when the Rev was here for the first time back in 1995.  The girl didn't know the song or the singer.  This morning The Rev decided that she was probably too young to know it.

That made The Rev think even more.  Had The Rev met these very same hot chicks when he came to Korea in 1995, they would have been 5 or 6 years old.  The Rev was almost sick to his stomach thinking about that.  That's just dlipping gross.  The Rev can't imagine hitting on a girl that he had taught "The Wheels on the bus Go Round and Round" to 15 years ago.  And yet, that's essentially what The Rev was up to.

Anyway, after that revelation this morning, The Rev can't even look at 20-somethings anymore.  The Rev is old.  The Rev has come face-to-face with mortality.  The angel of death came to The Rev in the form of a smoking hot Korean chick and warned me of my Doom.  The Rev is just waiting to die.  Life is over.  or else I could find a woman my own age.  Either way.

Rev, never forget the golden rule, half plus seven. As in, half your age (e.g. 44/2 = 22 years) plus seven years = 29. That line is the lower limit, anything below that definately doesn't work. The rule always made sense to me. That, and, how much do you bench...

Good rule, Doid.  I never knew that one.  The Rev can wrap his mind around that one.  After all 29 is nearly 30, so that's not pervy.

+K for the how much you can bench.  It was a true laugh out loud moment.

On the subject of younger women:

When I met my wife I assumed she was some other officer's date or kid sister - wrong on both accounts - pleasantly.

We hit it off immediately and had a magnetic conversational chemistry - it didn't hurt that she was model gorgeous.

Even now, after thirteen years of marriage, two children, and some crazy Navy assignments, deployments and moves - she is a hottie yet.

By the way, the differential is sometimes 15 or 14 years depending on the calendar.

Age is time - it is a measurement but not the most important one.

Good luck Rev. - I always chuckle when reading your posts.

Happy New Year to all and to all a good night!

Go Warriors!

something fishy here...sounds like a A.D. and admin who wanted to get rid of a coach they didnt like...looking at these torture chambers craig james son was put in is almost comical. pbr has seen much worse living conditions for kids living everyday in college! as many fans are now seeing this their boards are alive w/ the spoiled kid not getting his way so he is going to kick and scream until he gets his way....

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2009/12/texas-tech-fires-leach-before-court-hearing/1

PBR, I think Leach should've known better than to have even placed the kid in those situations -- if he knew they were out for his blood at Texas Tech, then he needed to avoid anything remotely like what happened until things smoothed over.  As Bobby Knight can tell you, you can only spit in the face of the administration so many times when you're under scrutiny in the first place (and with an $800,000 payment to Leach pending if he coached the bowl game based on an incentive in his contract) before you get bounced.  What he did served NO PURPOSE in the whole scheme of things.  So, regardless of whether James was whining to get his coaches in trouble or whether the conditions were "adequate," Leach was an idiot for not thinking for one minute about his own actions.  Remember, he's the adult in that situation -- there IS a higher standard.  As I said before, he probably should've considered whose son he was dealing with since Craig James has been an ESPN, CBS and ABC commentator since the early 1990s.

Plus Craig James is football royalty in Texas.

While the kid is no saint (he was a pain in azz), head coaches have to be above that.

Some of the quotes from players are actually surprising to me.  Here's a sampling from the ESPN story:

Some Texas Tech players believed the university's decision to dismiss Leach was appropriate.

"I have no complaints about this decision. [Leach] put Adam [James] in a shed like an animal. Like an animal in a cage. That was bull," defensive lineman Chris Perry said. "You call other players. I think it was a good decision. We have our pep back now. We practice hard this week. We had less stress this week. You know why? Because he's gone."

Wide receiver Tramain Swindall said he supported the decision to fire Leach.

"I do agree and I'm supporting Adam and what he's doing because it's the right thing to do," Swindall told the AP in a telephone interview.

Swindall said he believes Leach was at times out of line in how he treated players.

"And so do most of the players," he said.

"It wasn't just about Adam. It was always a negative vibe."

Said cornerback Taylor Charbonnet: "The players make this team, not one coach. As Adam's friend, I didn't like it at all what [Leach] did. He was my brother and I didn't agree with it. I don't know why [Leach] did that. But I know we are fully behind [interim] coach Ruffin [McNeill]. We love him and support him."

New information from a Texas Tech Trainer:

QuoteHowever, Pincock said James was initially placed in a "sports medicine garage, there is no lock on this building." Pincock said injured players are typically asked to perform exercises during practice, but "James could not participate in these drills, and was originally asked to walk around the field."

"Adam showed up to practice in street clothes, no team gear, and dark sunglasses," Pincock said, according to the statement. "Adam walked about 40 to 50 yards, very slowly and with a non-caring attitude."

Pincock said Leach then asked that James be moved to a location "where sunlight could not bother him as he was wearing sunglasses."

"I instructed Adam to stay in the garage and out of the sun, so the light would not worsen his condition," Pincock said in the statement. "While in the garage, Adam was walking around, eating ice, sitting on the ground, and, at one point, sleeping; at no point was there any enforcement to make Adam stand up."

and from the same article:

Quote"I walked Adam to the room, which was at least as big as a two-car garage," Pincock wrote. "Inside the room there is an electrical closet. I looked in the closet and stated that there was 'no way that Adam would be placed in there.' I shut the door to the electrical closet, and it was never opened again. At no time during this practice was Adam ever placed in the electrical closet."

The Rev ran across this website today.  http://www.howtobecomeabarber.com

The Rev thinks this guy is a genius, and vows to get Rev's haircut at Top of the Line Barbershop at 33 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, next time The Rev is in the US.

The Rev especially liked his video about managing money.  Seriously, if everyone took his advice, the whole country would be a lot better off.  He rambles, but there are pearls of wisdom contained therein.

This leach situation is really becoming a "he said" "she said" deal. the two sides are so far from each other that obviously one of the two parties is full of ****. To be honest, after hearing what the trainer said on SC this am dlip may be siding with Leach at this point. Yet again, if this **** is true and Leach is a big of a mother****er to his players as this kid says then he got what he deserves. If James if lying and is actually the lazy ****ing kid whose Daddy is always butting in than **** him two and he should be dismissed from the team for being dishonest and character assassination. This kid really could have an agenda against Leach and could follow through with it because of all the media outlets (ESPN Daddy) at his disposal.

Frank Rossi

Here's the problem now, as I've read KD's suggested reading on Leach.  Everyone involved is in CYA mode now.  Look at this paragraph, in which Leach contradicts himself:

"Leach, during an on-air interview Thursday night with ESPN, said he had not suggested any place specific for James. 'I said, find some place dark and one place was as good as the next, and that was close to the field, and plus they had the ice machine,' Leach said."

Let me translate why it's a contradiction:  "I didn't suggest anywhere specific for Adam, but I knew the place I didn't suggest had an ice machine."

Again, the truth lays somewhere in the middle here.  When that happens, you need to look at the adults in the situation and ask whether they acted as such.  The more I read and hear, the more I believe the adults acted worse than the kids they were trying to reprimand.

Mark Schlarith (sp?) said it best on Mike and Mike yesterday.

No matter how much of a prima donna the James kid was, no one deserves to be confined in a space like that.  Send him to the training room, send him back to his dorm room, send him home, kick him off the team, or take away his scholarship and say that he doesn't fit the Tech family.

But you don't isolate him like that (shed, garage, room, whatever) if you are a responsible coach.

If he didn't have the concussion, the kid probably would have been running stadium steps till he dropped.  Leach just over-reacted and didn't have an appropriate punishment for someone with a head injury.  James could have at least put his team gear (sweats if he wasn't to have contact) and asked if he could wear the sunglasses due to the light sensitivity.  But he showed up at practice in street clothes, sunglasses, apparently strutting across the field thinking he was a movie star.

Both are somewhat at fault, but Leach should have been more responsible in the situation.

Heading into overtime in the Outback Bowl (currently airing on ESPN at 2:47pm EST):

N'western 35
Auburn     35

Here's an incredible stat line for the N'western QB, as the Wildcats try to win their first bowl game in 61 years:

Mike Kafka 45/74 517yds (Avg. 7.0) 4 TDs 5 INTs

[EDIT:  Bizarre game, with Auburn thinking they had won the game about 3 times in regulation and the OT (38-35 Auburn wins).  However, Kafka's final line was 47/78 for 532 yards with the 4 TDs and 5 INTs.]

A well said summation here. Again though; it will be interesting if and when all the FACTS come out. The more dlip thinks of it the more he realizes that regarding the two parties in question, the coaches should have been the ones to take the high road and act more responsible no matter what the situation entailed. dlip still just can't believe the coach of a Division one program like Tech would be ****ing stupid enough to lock a kid in a room like that.

Anyone here see the Penn State game today? Can anyone tell dlip why when up 16-3 with all the momentum Penn State attempts a ****ing pathetic squib kick that goes ****in 20 yards and sets up Auburn on PS's 47 yard line. Almost cost them the game!
