You think?  Danica was very good at running outside of her line in an Indy car and wrecked because she touched someone.   Now SF knows the cars are more durable but still thinks this could apply because her crashes were usually of the variety that would end her day in stock car also.  In addition to this, she'll have some of the big boys coming down to race in the Nationwide ---- will the bumping rattle her?  She's not the most emotionally stable driver in the IRL ....

SF thinks she comes unglued and finishes Daytona with a DNF-crash

she is a cool cat...in fact after the arca race she was looking for feedback and kevin harvick and tony stewart told her to go for it. they thought she was more than ready. plus dale jr. will be bump drafting her (god why does pbr smile when he thinks of bump drafting danica?) and teaching her the in's and out's of driving in the pack and drafting. dale jr. will be practicing with her and others showing her the ropes. believe it or not she is a very good driver...
Did you catch the IRLL race where she pit and upon taking off, spun her tires, did a 360 and nearly injured the next pit crew down the line, while wrecking her car completely.

yes, and have seen michael andretti, bobby rahal, danny sullivan, rick mears, tony kanaan all do the same thing...pbr worked on numerous pit crews growing up and has seen this all close up from the front row

**  edit: should  note here when your flying around the pits and put a set of cold slick tires on the car and slam the gas pedal the floor and open up 800hp sooner or later your tires being cold arent going to grab and your going to fish tail it around

Does anyone do this restaurant.com thing?  Reg bought a $25 dollar gift certificate to our favorite mexican place the other day for $4 bucks.  They are on sale for 80% off right now....check it out.

They're just about always 80% off... Restaurants hate when their regulars try to use them, though.  It's based on the Entertainment Book concept, to a certain degree, in which they hope to get new customers to try the restaurant through the sweet offer.  Remember to present it at the beginning of the meal -- and remind the waiter that you'll be tipping a percentage off the full bill, just in case you're worried about a preemptive strike by the waitstaff...

I've never used this but some of them look like good deals.  But it does look like a lot of them require a $50+ tab, some of them say no alcohol, and others say you can only use them once a week or month!

Still looks good though Ill have to check this out now.

I wish I could use them... but I'm single.  Can you imagine presenting coupons at a restaurant in front of a gurl you're trying to smash??

a man of your means should throw an extra c-note on the table just because you can, its just how u roll in ballerhood

haha... SF is not the baller-type.  Had to start over after the divorce and she got half...  but the new company has turned a corner recently and really getting into a good place, so SF is going to start investing again now with his brother, who is @ Morgan Stanley.

The weather patterns this winter are bizarre.  Everything is going south of us.

Here in SE Michigan, we finally got about an 8-incher last night.  All schools closed today because of expected high winds causing drifting (they never did arrive).  Our TOTAL for this winter is still below what you have gotten in each of the last two storms! :o  (Maybe Mother Nature is waiting to sock us until my teenage son has moved away! ;))

yeah, what he said...here in Rochester, we are down like 10-15% from the average.  I know Buffalo, a snow haven, is way down too.  Anyone in 'Cuse?

Looks like PA is about to spend 2 months in suburban Dayton, OH on a consulting project.  Anyone know anything about Dayton or, more specifically, Miamisburg (restaraunts, bars, strip clubs, etc.) before I go trolling the OAC board for info?

Bingo...went to law school at UD...Miamisburg is a relatively affluent suburb just south of Dayton.  Also a very large commercial influence.  Many, many restaraunts, bars, etc.  In fact, this past Sept, was there for our annual alumni golf/softball/drunken fest...ended up at some 'club' in Miamiburg...in a plaza behind a Buffalo Wild Wings...dont remember the name, just know that 82 woke up in his buddy's daughter's bed (buddy's wife and kids blew town for the weekend due to the anticipated debaucherous conduct of the husband and 82) and I was 'missin' at least 3 benjamins...

PM me if you have any specific questions about the area....it is a great area.

I hate Dayton... PA, when does your two month sentence begin??

Thanks for the feedback from all of you.  It's tenative, but start date is probably going to be the 24th of this month.  I'll check in with the few on the PM later for details.  I'm actually going to be putting in 70-80hr weeks, 14ish hour days Mon-Fri, some Sat work, Sun off, so I'll have some time, but not a ton for what counts for fun there.  I was more interested in food and late night for when I need to do something, so while the air force museum might be fun, probably not on the radar.  A baseball game could be interesting.  I've already been looking at the Cavs schedule for Sunday games (or late Sat since its 3.5hrs or so).  I'm also planning on going down to Lousiville the weekend of April 17th for a Hobart lax game (vs. Bellarmine) and some bourbon (there's some flexibility in these projects, it's just a lot of work in general).

What's up with this NASCAR stuff?  My father in law told me it was a fact that I would ultimately get into NASCAR and country music now that I'm living in the south, but thus far I've vehemently protested even a hint of this.  I have some family on my father's side from the Elmira/Corning area (pops grew up in Steuben Co, Bath, NY) who are all into debating Gordon vs. Dale, or whatever the hell they're talking about, but I've never had any interest in that stuff.  And I think it's a disgrace to hot chicks around the world that Danica is a godaddy hot chick or whatever.   It's the Manon Rheaume (or however that goalie's name was spelled) syndrome.  Same as a modestly attractive giraffe in DI or WNBA BB.

That's a long haul from Dayton to Cleveland.  I used to drive from Alliance to Oxford (4.5 hours) to see GF in college and that was a haul.

The Men's NCAA play-in game is at Dayton Arena annually...plus many years they also host  a first/second round bracket.  Top level college basketball atmosphere at the UD Arena!

TheGrove, I think we have more in common than we do different. My point is that if the Crusaders see geography as a plus in the CC, why ever leave the MAC in the first place? Was the overall picture of academia in our leage really that bad that SU needed to escape the good ship Middle Atlantic? I can only speak for one MAC school on personal experience, but I would put my education against the outstanding communications program at SU, or any other LL or CC school, on any day of the week.

No disrespect to Juniata, as the distance made for few connections with our players and fans. Moravian was tougher, as we had a good rivalry with the Greyhounds and our Lehigh Valley guys (not to mention Coach Shep) always were  up for that one. But when Susquehanna walked out the door.....that was a disappointing day in Coloneland my friend. No that the league needed any of the three defectors to survivie, but it was always nothing but good times with SU. It dosen;t hurt that we won most of the latter games in the series  ;D but it went well beyond that, to the friendships betwene so many players, coaches, administrators, and fans at both schools.

As for our visits to SU, indeed you are welcome for the compliment  :) That was a great time- someday Coach Shep and I need to have a brew and talk about it! We also played out there my junior year in men's basketball and had a great game, withstanding a Josh Robinson rampage to hang on for the W. But my favorite memory comes from my  freshman season of Wilkes Football, in 2004, when the first half was played in a driving rainstorm. Because of that wonderful roof over the press box, I was dry as a bone while everyone else was soaked. Someday, I am going to track down whoever decided to put that roof on there and buy him/her a drink- they deserve it!

The MAC-to-LL jump was not about geography - it was about "academics." Not so much to say our academics are better than yours, but TPTB felt that there were different focuses on that front all around the conference. Hence that whole "like-minded institution" catchword (which, BTW, I'm sick to death of hearing - it keeps getting thrown back at us on the Landmark board from other bitter MAC-ers).

However, as a Susquehanna communications alumna, I'll take your challenge.  ;D

There are definitely some MAC schools I miss. I'm definitely a traditionalist. I have a few lively memories in your gym, G-man. BTW, I didn't realize you were such a young'un. I would not have been one of the lovely ladies of which you speak, though my sister may have been.  :)

Very good conversation Grove. On the academics, I suppose each school dose what they think is best, but if those in charge at SU think that Wilkes was bringing in substandard student-athletes, they could not be further from the truth. I know quality professionals that have graduated from every football school in the MAC, but if the defectors think that some of our fellow MAC schools were below their level, whatever. All I know is our programs did outstanding academically, and on the field/court, we do indeed miss the Crusaders.

As for the "like-minded" phrase on the Landmark Conference board, I am indeed one of those who has thrown it around quite a bit  :D As a lifelong resident of the City of Scranton, who has several family members who are U of S alums, I had PLENTY to say when Scranton jumped the boat. Again, everyone dose what they think is best, and the Colonels are more than happy with the current balance of the MAC from what I know.

As for that wonderful atmosphere at SU, indeed lots of wonderful people to talk with  :) It was very similar when the changes in membership came and we went to Arcadia for basketball. However, later in the year up in Purchase, the population was...well..not as welcoming  ;D
