ouch....celts blow a 13pt. lead in the 3rd qtr...not a good day for celts fans and to have the lakers do it is even worse...

I have no skin in the game, as unbelievably I am still a Knick fan, but was Tim Donaghy reffing that game last night?  I think I saw it was about 22 free throws for the Lakers to 6 for the Celtics at one point in the 4th quarter alone...it was almost like watching the Lakers-Blazers Western Conference Finals Game 7 back in 2000.

no dawg in this fight either but after reading the game summary and looking at the stats and recaps the celts got totally hosed by the refs

Agreed...this was kind of shocking...it would be like Jim Boeheim deciding to take over the University of Albany basketball team.  He is leaving a place that is now considered a national power, with two consecutive Final 4 appearances, for a place that has made the tourney twice...ever.

Anyone remember anything like this before, in any sport?

lax is becoming a very big sport and lots of money. was watching a lax show on a maryland tv station last night and they were talking about how psu was long considered a sleeping giant in lax. Now they have their coach plus his wife is a psu grad and played/coached at psu and wants to get back into coaching. Former psu asst. coach and currently the head coach at harvard lars tiffany waffled for a long time and finally turned down psu last week to stay at his alma mater harvard. but NO ONE expected Jeff Tramboni to come on board, a coup for the AD Tim Curley.

Tommy:

If you're looking for grub at the park, try the Schmitter Sandwich named after the third baseman.  And if you can't get to Chickie's and Pete's, you may get another shot at crab fries if you fly out of Philadelphia International.  They have a location there.

I am guessing salary played a large part in his decision on this one.

As a die hard Celtics fan that has watched every single playoff game this year and probably 75% of the regular season games, I can honestly say the refs did not do a horrible job in game 7.  There were probably only two fouls called on the Lakers that were clearly not fouls.  I don't think the refs played a huge part in game 7.  The Lakers simply have more players that like to drive it strong to the hoop.

In the end, a total bummer.

At least they covered the +7.

Actually, seems to be other things. His wife is a PSU grad (or grew up in the area), and after leaving Cornell Field Hockey on maternity leave, wanted to get back into coaching. I also think PSU has the reputation as a school with a lot of untapped potential as far as lacrosse goes, and he could really make his mark, and be the "Joe Pa" of PSU lax. He certainly could have had the more prestigious Maryland job, but I bet you he saw PSU as somewhere to make his name. Not that 2 Final Fours in 4 years didn't already do that. The surprise is that he had a Cornell team loaded with young talent, so they are going to be good for a long time. And, yeh, I'm sure he got a lot more cash as well.

psu on a crazy hiring of coaches...first they dump serious cash and probably the greatest wrestler the usa has ever produced to bring in cael sanderson for wrestling and now trambroni for lax. If they would only dump some cash on a mens hoop coach...sigh

It's almost 5:00, so light the lamp and everyone have a great weekend. And a heartfelt Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

The Rev remembers when Hobart could beat Cornell in lax.  Not after Tambroni.  He put Cornell lax on the map.  The Rev thinks that he will take PSU and put their lax team on the map, too.  The Rev guesses that PSU sees the future of lax and is committing serious resources to making PSU a contender.

This move reminds me a little bit of Dave Urick who left Hobart after 10 consecutive national championships to take...Georgetown, basically a non-program, and turned them into a ranked team.  Tambroni will do the same to PSU.  The man has some serious talent.

labart96

Thx for the news flash.  TGP does follow lax but didn't see that one (honestly turned off lax radar after memorial day).

Very big move for PSU.

Happy belated father's day to those in the LLPP.

weird...anyone else getting malware warning messages when trying to access this site? pbr's browsers at work no longer allow access to this site due to malware warnings and pbr's home pc w/ google chrome spit up a huge warning message over the weekend about malware being embedded in some of the ads on here anymore....

Pat Coleman

I've heard from two other people but haven't seen anything myself. Any idea what ad is appearing at that time?
