Coach DeLong had an interesting take on the East's "weakness" (or lack thereof)...obviously the E8 has owned the LL to date, but a SLU win this Saturday and RPI having two weeks to prep for Alfred may help us gain a little respect...

WPI and Coach Robertson should get a lot of credit for the remarkable turnaround from last season...Raymond obviously is doing what needs to get done to make SLU a winning program.  Hobart needs a W this Saturday or they are basically done...Rev - you better bless the Boz prior to kickoff.

Get er done!

It would be huge for SLU to get a 3rd win in a row.  Don't think they have done that since the 1970's or something.  That said, Utica looks to be pretty solid.  Hopefully the SLU defense can keep them in the game again.

Pep would like to see the Larries--errr Saints--run the table in the LL. Pep saw them first hand...that defense gained a ton of confidence with each series against the Saxons. In fact, the D-coordinator who was giving them a pep talk after every series nearly had Pep persuaded to go out there and "make a play" to stop the Saxons.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

+K Pep.  StLarry has always liked the aggressive D that Kevin Farr coaches up.  He is definitely good at lighting a fire under peoples a$$es.  Now if only the offense could get themselves moving, the Larries just may have something.

Farr was a good player for Hobart back in the day and sounds like he's an even better coach for the Saints.  Good luck Saturday against Utica - TGP hopes you guys knock off the Pioneers.

In other news, TGP's Union-Hobart Game Preview is Up

Here's an excerpt:

I am in a bit of quandary here given after the last two weeks, I am now unsure which Hobart team is going to show up on Saturday? The team from the first two games played virtually mistake-free, team and opportunistic football; making plays on all facets (i.e., offense, defense and special teams) of the game. The last two games the Statesmen have been the complete opposites of the team from Games 1 and 2.

That said, Hobart has not lost three straight since a similar skid ended the 1997 season when the Statesmen fell to Ithaca, Hartwick and RPI – the latter two by a mere three combined points. The Statesmen have traditionally played the Dutchmen tough at the Boz but actually haven't beaten Union at home since 2004. That game was a thrilling 33-27 comeback and overtime victory that clinched Hobart's and the first ever Liberty League championship behind a record setting 339 passing yards and five passing TDs by then SO QB Shawn Mizro.

Union is always a tough out, but they have had the Statesmen's number as of late and I am certain they probably relish the opportunity to potentially provide the proverbial knockout punch to one of their primary league rivals, on Hobart's home court no less.

Nice writeup TGP, and I dig the black pumpkin. +K

Yeh, who knows what to think of either team at this point. but I think that this game will define BOTH teams seasons, not just Barts. Union has squeaked by Rochester and WPI, and didn't seem impressive against Ithica, so I agree this game is a tossup, and will be an indicator of who these teams are. Of course, a two loss team could certainly claim the LL title the way this season has started.

3rd round pick now or nothing in a few months...That's what happened.  Patriots usually make 3rd+ round draft picks pretty well.  Aaron Hernandez was a 4th Round pick, Brady is a 6th rounder, Brandon Tate 3rd round, etc etc.

He was targeted zero times Monday night.  He wanted out.  He got his wish.  I loved him, but the Boston media pretty much ruined him so it's better off.  I hate the Boston media.

Thx k+ to you too

TGP figured with Halloween just a few weeks off it was time to bring the Pumpkin back.

Union is a big game for Bart every year, but a lot is riding on this one....hence the reason TGP was torn in his pick (i.e., head says U b/c Hobart hasn't played well in two weeks; heart given it's a home game and the Statesmen desparately need a win to stay relevant in the LL)

I don't think the media has been too hard on Moss.  Every once in a while "people" might question those plays where he appears to dog it, but wouldn't every cities media do that?  They did it in Minnesota and Oakland and the national media does it to him now right?

I thought he came out of nowhere in his first press conference there when he said a lot of people didn't want to see him do well.  WTF was he talking about?

We also have to rememeber that the Boston media gets real close to teams and they often times get a pulse on what really goes on in terms of who is dogging it, what coach is upset at who, which player isn't working hard enough, etc etc.

I loved him too.  But I don't know what kind of contract he was looking for either, and I don't know how much money the Patriots had to spend on him or what their budget looks like.

MMA's Ray Martel covered the Moss move in his weekly Boston themed sports talk radio show:

I'm just happy Favre has a WR now...

Only because I've got Favre on my fantasy team...

I have Lynch and Favre on my bench and two trades just made them worth a whole lot more...

PBR...

w/ a pending lockout looming its going to be interesting because not many teams want to sign people until the whole new contract sorts itself out. shows you how desperate the vikings are right now

Sounds like there were issues with him and coaches... according to Teddy Bruschi

*** Also, New England SENT their 7th round pick to MN for 2011... weird.

That 30 for 30 last night "4 Days in October" was pretty cool... it was pretty good to see Millar call out Shaugnessy for saying they were done... even if it was before they had beaten the Yankees yet

Note to Coach Cragg:

Go to Lawrence Academy to recruit linemen:

St George's backs out of game vs. Lawrence Academy

"Among other options, Lawrence Academy reportedly offered to play the game at "half speed" to ensure no players got hurt."

I'm torn by this comment. If it was sarcastic, brilliant, that just cracks me up.

If it was a seriuos offer, than St. Georges may just be right, Lawrence Academy is filled with meatheads. Sadly, I think it's the latter...
