HELP WANTED:

Looking for Pollsters for a "soon to be unveiled" D3 TOP 25 FAN POLL.

Publishing site: www.uwwfootball.blogspot.com

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Commit to submit a ballot ranking the D3 Teams 1-25 by stated deadline. I'm thinking that will be midnight on Mondays.
2. Research the teams and try to be as unbiased as possible in ranking them.
3. Think through your own philosophy as to how much to weigh previous ranking, won/loss record, your sense as to who would win head to head, national performances in recent years, quality wins, and whatever reasonable criteria you care to choose.
4. Submit a ballot EVERY WEEK by the deadline. Missing a deadline will be cause to forfeit your spot. Create and submit your ballot BEFORE viewing the D3football.com poll. You can look at previous weeks polls to get you started if you are having a hard time filling out the last few slots.

PURPOSE OF POLL

This poll is to promote meaningful and fun discussion on d3boards.com.  It is simply something that will be fun to contrast with D3football.com's poll. D3football.com's poll is the one legitimate poll we have in D3 football in my opinion.  This poll is not even intended to become #2. I just think it would be an interesting point of comparison and discussion.

HOW TO APPLY

Send me a private message. In your message indicate:
1. you are applying to be a pollster.
2. What team/conference you follow.
3. Whether you can submit a poll as early as this Thursday. (That is not mandatory, if everyone can we may do one this week).

WHO WILL BE CHOSEN?

The first 25 respondents will be our initial group of pollsters.  This group will remain the D3 FOOTBALL FAN POLL TOP 25 pollsters unless they resign their position or miss a deadline.  Pollsters, I will never post your names on the boards.  If you choose to, that is fine. If you are beyond the first 25 responses, your name will be placed on a "waiting list".  If there are fewer than 25 respondents by midnight on Wednesday, we will go with what we have and continue to have "open" slots to be filled.

Remember FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!  ;)

Well, another week, another round of "what the hell is happening in the LL this year"? SLU comes out of nowhere, RPI stuns Alfred after losing to WPI, Union is one of the pre-season favorites but squeaks by Rochesters and WPI and loses to Bart and SLU.

The team under the radar, who I had written off a few weeks ago, is Merchant Marine. I was worried about Tooper losing his job, but after getting monkey stomped by Springfield 64-0, they respond by beating WPI and smoking Rochester. Who knows how this plays out, but at this point, who thought that the Larries 13-6 win over MM might be the game that ends up deciding the LL?

I dare any of you to place a bet on a LL game this year. SLU-RPI will probably decide the LL if the Larries win, but if RPI wins, then it will be totally up for grabs since RPI will then have to beat Hobart and Union. Get your LL Title tiebreakers out.

well pbr thinks rpi wins out and shocks the world...afterwards it will leak out that a 1/2 time speech by groseph groberson threatening to cut off all thug mansion privileges unless they win out was the ignition rpi needed to turn their season around....

dlip's thoughts on Union's loss to SLU:

First and foremost dlip wants to congratulate a St. Lawrence team that came into Shocktown and worked their tails off to beat the Dutchmen on Saturday. The SLU adjustments in the second half and continued intensity are what helped the Saints get the W and remain atop the LL.

SLU came out in the third quarter, ate up clock, got first downs, and forced Union to run the football, which of course Union just could not do with any consistency. The Saints Marcus Washington ran the ball well enough to keep the Union D guessing and QB JP Kearney showed some excellent athleticism throughout. dlip's fav player of the game though was Ethan Sutton. This kid is very fast, mobile, and a solid receiver.

The Saints D did exactly what it had to do, it made second half adjustments and forced the ball into Connor Gallo's hands. It plugged up holes that were there in the first half and read and reacted quite well in the secondary.

Union:

Hats off to Connor Gallo for stepping up and giving his best effort on Saturday. he honestly looked very good for someone who has not taken snaps in 3 years. Connor was very mobile and worked hard to make plays with his feet. You just can't expect a WR to step in and do all that much. As a Union fan dlip was quite proud of his effort.

The O-line seemed to show up in the first half creating holes for Coney to work with and this helped open up some options for the Union O. Yet in the second half those holes ceased to exisit and as a result hurt the Dutchmen. This O-line is getting healtier and making strides. dlip's confidence is growing with them.

As far as defensively we just can't disrupt the pass or run enough to make opponents uncofrtable and change their game plans. The D was on the field a ton and just got wore down. dlip felt they left it all on the field though and appreciates their effort. Overall SLU was the better of the two teams on the field on Saturday and deserved the W.

LL thoughts:

MMA...wow! RPI...nice W. dlip congratulates both teams here on their W's especially the Engineers. That was a great win for the the Enigineers and the LL, probably the only OOC win we will be able to hang our hats on here in 2010. RPI made it happen and all of a sudden became very relavent in the LL discussion. Never in dlip's life has he had so many nice things to say about RPI and believe him that will end soon. Yet in his maturation as a fan he must give credit where credit is do, and King and the Engineers definitely deserve it as of now.

This past weekend was a GREAT win for RPI and I don't want to take away from that fact, BUT:

1.  It was OOC and historically, RPI fares well OOC, even against good teams...
2.  Alfred plays SJF this week, so perhaps they were overlooking RPI(especially in the 1st quarter)
3.  I can't become a true believer this year until they can beat Union, Hobart and SLU and MMA.
4.  Endicott, Utica, and WPI are too embarrassing to overlook because of 1 win.

That said, hopefully RPI can build off of this little bit of momentum that they seem to have begun.

Check the www.inhuddLLe.com archive for our discussions with RPI's Peter Nilson (kicked the game winner) in the Alfred upset, Marcus Washington (scored the winning TD for SLU over Union) and the always entertaining Coach Mike Toop of the USMMA...

Big special guest coming up this Sunday....more on that later this week.

Thanks for the TMZ link.  The Rev just wasted an hour looking at various videos from Snooki on South Park, to the J-woww wrestling smackdown to Kim Kardashian's 30th birthday.

I feel dirty, like I just spent an hour in a pipe of raw sewage.

If you've noticed dlip hasn't even posted here as much. He only has internet access at work and is blocked from all fantasy sights. He is currently moot in three leagues. It is the fourth week he has been computerless and internetless at home. His computer's antenna blew, and when he plugged into his modem directly his identity was ripped off through his hotmail account amoung others (had to cancel debit cards, check books etc). Hence, he has been shopping for a new computer for three weeks now as well as researching security systems for it when he buys one. He was quite pissed at the theft and literally just said "**** it" to the computer thing directly after the incident for a few days. Believe dlip, he is missing his fantasy teams a ton, but with the baby and work he refuses to drive to another house every week to change his line-ups. He has basically accepted the fact that he is computer ****ed for now and is hoping he remedies the situation soon.

That blows.  I would tell you to have Gro set your lineup for you in the interim, but he has a bad internet connection from the monastery.
