Ok....tech junkies.  U89 is in the market for a digital camera.

Any help would be appreciated...

U89 - Bobby's problem is that bobby spends too much time analyzing stuff, and it takes bobby many months to purchase, that being said, bobby will try to be brief.

Bobby owns two Canon Digital Cameras – Last years model of this was 4MP and is a compact(deck of a cards)/easy to use camera/takes quality video also - http://www.familyphotoandvideo.com/product.asp?id=cnpssd400

Important factors (IMO)

Battery type – look for a camera which comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery – If U89 has to supply batteries, U89 will not be happy

Optical Zoom strength – 3x is typical and sufficient for most.  Bobby turns digital zoom off, b/c bobby can zoom in to crop a photo on a computer.

How it feels in U89's hands - Use the web to research and compare models/specs but Bobby recommends that U89 go to circuit city/best buy to handle the camera and see how it operates

MP Size – The higher the MP's, the more options U89 has to crop/blow up photos on computer.

Media Cardhttp://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/   Bobby has bought middle of the road Viking Components media cards and they have performed pretty well and they are relatively inexpensive at Amazon.

Bobby has bought a lot of stuff at the following sites and have not had any problems.

To recap for U89.

1. Find the camera you like at best buy
2. make sure it doesn't take regular batteries
3. get it cheaper online (overstock, eBay)

Bobby tried, but could never create a summary like gro's +1

Jonny Utah

Do we have to have official interviews or do we already have LLPP's official athletic trainer?

Jonny Utah

Ok, I have the first candidite for LLPP official mascot.

Yet another week goes by with someone spilling something on their keyboard.  I think the company should start offering laptops with these.  Looks like it was a large regular with 2 sugars.

Gro wishes he had a spill proof keyboard in college, had a roommate that "spilled" something on it (clue #2 he was home alone) and then every time Gro hit the space bar it would shoot out 3 or 4 b's along with it.

BTW....Union89 has yet to get satelite radio.....U89 has listened to the David Lee Roth show a couple times to check it out.......DAMN, the only true lead singer of Van Halen which U89 recognizes is gawd aweful....Anyone else subject themselves to this torture the last 2 weeks??

It's like listening to someone scratching nails across a blackboard.....he's just bad!

u89- good topic on the camera...at least people will give you honest answers here, unlike some places.

Damn, that's nasty. But +1 K for you for making me spit water on my monitor. ;D

KS is contributing late to the camera discussion but here it is.  The Stalker family bought a Samsung camera for under 200.00 at Sears.  It has 4.2 MP, optical zoom, can record video and audio, it came with a case (we bought a better one) can use either AA or rechargeable batteries (a big selling feature for me) and it came with the USB cable needed to connect to the computer along with the necessary software.  It is fairly small, about the size of a disposable camera and fits in Mrs. Stalkers purse.

When going to a place like Best Buy or Sears KS would recommend getting there early while all the display cameras have charged batteries.  Beats arguing with the floor people to put in fresh batteries.

Gro...Have/had a similar one where the customer was letting his kid use the machine and it was not working right...had someone get the machine and it looked so disgusting that  I also sent him down to the cafe to get some rubber gloves(yes that bad) before we even handled it.   Needless to say the keyboard  was similar to how you described it as well as we found all kinds of things you wouldn't expect in the folders, etc.
Machine had to be sent out for service...they returned it deeming it a biohazard!!

said roommate in question denies any wrongdoing in the case to this day (explanation: his daughter spilled juice on it) we still like to joke about it.
