Thanks Utah! dlip is really excited for tomorrow. As he drove to drop his youngest off at his mothers before work at 7 a.m. he spotted the Dutchmen out practicing. It took all the will power he had not to call in sick to work and sit in the stands at Frank Bailey field with his 10 month old for the duration of practice screaming let's go Union holding his child up in the air clothed in a full Dutchmen outfit.

Many might not agree with dlip's pick and he clearly gets that. This is a huge game for Union, especially looking at the way things have gone in the past three seasons. It's almost as if they can wash away 8 consecutive OOC losses with a W tomorrow. What a unique opportunity. If they lose it's not the end of the world but if they win it may be exactly what this team and program needs to get back to where they want to be.

Honestly, dlip is a big Ithaca fan and has always admired the Bombers program, coaches, players, and fans. Tomorrow will be fun! By the way thanks so much for reading the blog Utah. dlip appreciates it! +k

I'm pretty sure if you did that during practice there may be a restraining order filed.(Or at least a psychiatric evaluation ordered)

I'd like to see more night games. If Hobart plays afternoon games I have to stay up and listen to the game from 2-4 am. They're playing Utica at 7 pm, so I can listen to the game simply by waking up at 8 am.

So I wish that Hobart would change all of its game times to be more convenient for me. I guess I need to donate a few million dollars to make that happen.

If you donated a "few million" the least they could do is have a international "home" game in South Korea
Call it "international Studies"

The Rochester and WPI scores surprise The Rev. A lot!

By the time I write this, I think USMMA pulled it off against SUNY Maritime. I hope.

I can't get live stats, box score, or live radio feed from Hobart. Last I read, Hobart had 7 penalties but was still up on Utica. Coach Cragg must be fuming about the penalties.

ITH radio

Hobart wins 34-21 and USMMA wins 7-6 giving the LL a 4-4 record in Wk 3.  Interesting that there are four undefeated teams (RPI, SC and MMA @ 3-0 with Bart at 2-0) going into league play.

Hobart score was almost identical to what I predicted on the "Comin Atcha" blog.  Just didn't see all the penalties coming.  Reaching out to Cragg for tmw's show.  With Wesley losing big and UST dropping a game to SJU it's possible Hobart could move up in the polls in spite of a less than stellar outing.

I think that the penalties actually made the game closer than what it was. I think if Hobart would have eliminated those, it would have been a bigger spread. However, I still like the balance of Utica...good win by Hobart.

From the in-game update board:

"Hobart seals the deal with a late TD, but this game leaves as many questions as it does answers.  Conlan goes 9-16 for 69 yards and two TDs... But two INTs.  The average per completion was pretty low.  Is Hobart going to become more one-dimensional offensively this year (with the run)?  Weather may have played a role, but Utica's passing game was pretty effective outside the 20s.  I wasn't convinced that Utica is a contender this year after watching last week at Gaetano.  So, the Hobart hiccups in the game concern me.  I've had them lower on my ballot than the actual poll place (by about nine spots), and they'll remain there.  However, I think this year's team is more vulnerable than last year's until the passing game picks up or eliminates the mistakes."

It certainly is looking that way thus far.

There's really no reason for the hair on fire.  Conlon is still a work in progress, but he can make some nice throws and is athletic.  It was only his second start.  The game was sloppy with a lot of penalties which extended some UC drives and the D was on the field for like 35-37 minutes.  Partly because we had short, big play drives.  I knew they'd get gassed even running multiple backups out there.

I was more worried before the season than through three weeks.  I watched the game and look at it like this.  Hobart coming off a bye sleep walked through the first quarter and was down 7-0.  They then go on to run off 28 straight points to be up 28-7 despite all the penalties and poor play.  UC ran 38 plays for 153 yards in the first half and most came on one 66 yard drive, so I'd say that Hobart put the game away, but Utica didn't go away and got 204 of their yards from 28-7 halfway through the third on.  They looked much better than last year and I thought it was a well planned and executed game plan.  Kudos for the way they played, but I can't hang my head by the game.  It looked like the offense, particularly the run game, was just getting warmed up in the 4th quarter but only ran like 45 or so plays.

USMMA QB Matt McDaniels is the top rusher in all of D3:

WPI's Zach Grasis and Hobart's Steven Webb are in the Top 30

That's an unusual report by the NCAA. They don't hand out an award for most total rushing yards, but they do hand one out for most rushing yards per game:
