Springfield really brings that option on another level though. It's hard for most teams to bottle them up. The Pride's issue, at least to Dlip, is almost always defense. This is not a good loss for Springfield. Congrats to U of R senior QB Dean Kennedy on his performance. This kid is quite a player.

Even though The Rev wishes he could stay up to the wee hours of the morning to listen to games and follow live stats, waking up in the morning is line Christmas, checking scores like opening presents; it can be either a bummer like underwear or a patterned sweater, or it can be awesome like a new set of Legos.

This morning was a Christmas with the greatest Lego sets a kid could get.

I'm stoked that Rochester pulled it off against Springfield, and to do so with so much excitement.
Utterly gob smacked by both the Transit Trophy result and SLU beating Union. What the heck has happened to our perennial powerhouses? Those two game results almost made me poop my pants, I was so shocked.
The Hobart result against Merchant Marine doesn't surprise me, but I have hi hopes for the midshipmen this year. I harbor the not-so-secret hope that USMMA goes the rest of the season undefeated. Not sure it can happen, but a single loss to Hobart and second place in the league is my Christmas wish for USMMA. They are my third favorite team in D3.

By the way, today is The Rev's 42nd birthday. My present is going to be a homemade chocolate cake. Mrs. Rev is one heck of a baker.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, REV! +K
Pep will be cooking up a storm for Pep's 28-year-old daughter, whose birthday is today (Sept. 29)! Pep's other daughter will be baking the cake/dessert.

Looking forward to ITH tonight fellas. A ton to talk about for sure!

Thanks for the happy birthday wishes, fellas, for the positive karma to you anonymous donors.
Mrs. Rev made a Yankees cake, complete with pinstripes. The only friend who wouldn't like it is the Great Pumpkin.
Mrs. Rev gave The Rev a new violin for my birthday. It's been so long since I last played that I couldn't even do a simple major scale.

It was one heck of a weekend for football. I can't believe how huge some of the scores are. We're talking wins so big we have yet to classify them with the monkey stomp taxonomy. It was also a good day for my D1 favorite Arizona State. Again, my apologies to my man Great Pumpkin who graduated from USC.

It's now nearly 1 am Korea time. Time to sleep, if possible. I'm still wound up from all the sugar in the cake.

Have a great day, fellas.

Really hoping the govt shutdown doesn't happen and wreck the USMMAs season.

Looking more likely that MMA vs. RPI won't play Saturday.  Slight chance they could on Sunday, but I'd venture to guess game doesn't happen this weekend.

Could reschedule to 11/2 bye week (both teams have an open date here).  If shutdown persists, a 2nd make up game btw MMA and UofR could be played on 11/23, but only if there are no post-season implications for either team.

What a mess.

And I had read that Nov. 2 was exams week for Merchant Marine, so I wonder how likely they would be to play that weekend as well.

An ITH source suggested that exam week could get postponed since classes are not presently in session, especially if the shutdown persists.  Therefore, it's not a given that 11/2 is actual exam week anymore.

Also true. Lots of things could change. But I suspect at some point, Merchant Marine Academy might take exams.

I know there are certainly more far-reaching implications of the government shutdown than this particular tiny one, and I refuse to get into political debates (here or anywhere, for that matter), but it's a shame that MMA seniors will possibly miss a large chunk of their senior season for something out of their control.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...
