QuoteI completely disagree with the analysis and having watched the most of the games the past few years am sure the defensive weakness isn't the rush, but rather an athletic QB getting out of the pocket and making throws downfield against our undersized secondary.

But you just repeated the observation I made about the game a decade ago. I said that RPI passed it down the sideline all second quarter against a weak secondary and here you are saying that the real danger is RPI making throws downfield against our undersized secondary.

So I don't see how this is a disagreement. Did I miss something?

Sorry, I meant I disagreed with Ryan's analysis on the triple take.  Not you.

I think he's just looking at the overall stats and seeing a decent amount of rushing yardage.  That's my bad that I wasn't clear.  I can't argue with you that RPI has been a tough out (though we've kind of had their number since early in the millennia, without looking Id guess were like 10-5 over the past 15), but they revamped their offense and run an option offense now.  I think that makes this game less scary than playing SLU or Roch this year.

No offense to lew, who's been the funniest while still reasonable and in control dude on these boards for a decade, but RPI is 1.5:1 rushing this year, well below 50% passing and has as many INTs as TDs passing and lost to WPI who may be the least competitive opponent hobart has faced this year.  I just don't see this one being all that close given the style of matchup this year.  This team doesn't have a cole, Robertson, savasli or that stud te branche.

Right on. I hope we see a Springfield type of score.
I always get worked up before RPI and Union. I guess I'm out of step. This year the Larries are the team to beat.

Did you forget to read your weekly Comin' Atcha preview?  All questions were answered there  ;)

A HUGE day for the Dutchmen out in Rochester. Questions hang over the Ducthmen right now like apples hanging from an apple tree. Dlip believes Union can win today but they must look like a very different team than last week. Rochester is having a great year and Kennedy is making things happen with his feet and his arm. Let's go Union!

Somewhere between 2-4 key participants are out w injuries off a bye week.  WTF???

Ellis and Hartigan out, Worthington will play, but sparingly and Toran is game time decision.  Not too concerned about th offensive guys, but if both your OLBs are a problem against an option team that is a problem.

I did forget. I usually read you as soon as you publish it. I don't know what happened this week. I think the bye knocked me off my routine.

Union up 7-0 in the 2nd.

SLU looking good...up 13-0 at half against Springfield...

Springfield is not what you are used to.  In watching the LL opponents plus Utica so far, Springfield is basically tied with WPI as the weakest opponent that I've seen hobart play this year.  (MMA being the best and UC being the second toughest, unfortunately )

I know...but it is nice to see SLU winning these games...and possibly setting up a Hobart-SLU pseudo LL championship game...

With their win over Roch that seems to be clearly the case, but I still like our chances given how SLU has been just barely scraping by every week.

Still, for a team that's won like 20 games in the last 8-10yrs and was 0 get the season last year, they deserve a ton of praise nationally for what they are doing this year.

Oh no doubt that Hobart will ABSOLUTELY be heavily favored, and in all reality will probably win going away.  Like you said though...for the coaching staff to pull this type of season together after an 0-10 season is amazing.  If SLU wins out, except for Hobart, and finishes 8-2 and gets an ECAC bid...that is an amazing year for the Saints (and good for the LL too...if you have another team finishing with that type of record).

Union was playing solid football with a half time lead of 7-0 until ANOTHER special teams failure, a fumbled punt snap gave Rochester a short field.  Again the air seemed to come out of the Dutchmen and they unraveled.  Penalties, a fumble and an interception led to 21 second half Rochester points.  Congrats to the Yellow Jackets.  They seized the opportunities and left the Dutchman humbled and hurting.  Looks like 2010 all over again.

Ok, so it's 4:18 am in Korea. I'm awake because my son's having a hard time sleeping because of his cold. The bright side is that I was able to follow the game. Good outing by Hobart. Even without some very good players, we got a decisive victory over a rival that has a history of urinating on our season.

Now with RPI aside, my thoughts turn to Union, another team that historically give Hobart sleepless nights. I hope the statesmen stay focused. I'm sure they are. I sense that this team wants another crack at the playoffs and has the discipline to know that the path to playoffs is won each week.

As for St Lawrence. I love them this year. They are making it happen. Still, Hobart is going to crush them like my son jumping on my balls. There will be no doubt who is the LL champ.
