Been hearing a lot about Hobart's Left Tackle Ali Marpet, the best tackle in LL? Country? Has anybody seen him play this year and is he as dominate as people have been saying? I do remember him last year against us and he was as good as advertised. Also listed as a junior captain for the statesman.

I think you might have, ummmm, misspelled your handle... Since the team that faced Hobart last season was Wittenberg.  You might want to ask iamhuge about talent assessment on these message boards...

Wow. That's bad. This may belong in the Saterday and exited pantheon.

Frank, I actually am from Whitehouse, OH where my son plays for Anthony Wayne high school, and my nephew actually graduated from Wittenberg last year and played DB. So I may have added an extra T to my name. But thanks for the knowledge.

Was not aware HWS.edu moved from New York. :)

Ever have that moment at work when you laugh out loud and everyone looks at you? Yep, thanks Pat...

Wow, this is almost a carbon copy of the "what not to do" in the terms of services. Funny when people try this.

My favorite part is 'So I may have added an extra T to my name. But thanks for the knowledge.'  Uuhhhhhhh, it was an H dude.  Mwwwuhahahahaha!!!  Mwwwuhahahahaha!!!  Mwwwuhahahahaha!!!  Mwwwuhahahahaha!!!

Well he abandoned ship already. Amusing. It takes a shrewd poster to get past those who are regulars here.

I'm honestly not sure what the funniest thing about this was.  I'll go with the fact that he thought we would believe a random fan from a team in a different conference, region, etc that played his team once in the playoffs (and likely never will again) would post nearly a year later to ask about an offensive lineman (straight from the horse's mouth, I'll say that there is NO more obscure position in football than that of Division III offensive lineman) on said team...without ever posting a single word of conversation on the NCAC board about Wittenberg, a perennial playoff-contending team that his hypothetical nephew played DB for just last season.

"Been hearing a lot..." - from where?  Do the other Wittenberg fans still speak reverentially about Hobart's incredible left tackle?

Actually, come to think of it - it may be equally funny that AFTER being called out, he came back once and tried to pass off a bogus story about being from Whitehouse, OH and all that jazz despite being registered with a Hobart email address.

I'll tell you what, kid, if you come back here and read some more after deactivating your account.  The boards are a fun place to post, but it's generally better if you're up-front about your identity instead of posing as someone else to post about yourself.  Come back in a few years and post about yourself all you like; from the looks of your career thus far, you're doing quite well, and then we'll talk all you like about how good you are/were.  Nobody remembers or notices how good Division III offensive linemen are, though, so really all you can hope for is to get a little recognition that you can post in your signature line someday :P

Aw come on guys. That's twice today. I've got to stop reading this board or I'm going to get in trouble at work...

He's part of the family so Ill defend him.

Sorry, I can't.  JB, take care of this please.

This is still cracking me up.  At what point did Ali Marpet realize that his alter ego wasn't going to make any sense.  I mean, the uncle from Ohio who is hearing a lot about an offensive tackle from a d3 team in upstate New York that his nephew played against last year?  Really?

Hey, the barroom chatter in Whitehouse, OH is loaded with nuggets about Division III football teams a couple of states away.

LD is right, too - "Thanks for the knowledge" is pretty funny.

Looks like while it was a HWS student (given the @hws.edu) that posted, it's not a player.  Unless I missed something, this sounds like a prank.

The oddity was that the account was created nearly a year ago without a single post until the post I called out.  This episode almost makes iamhuge look semi-sane.  Almost...  :)
