LLPP NEWS FLASH
After a brief investigation, LLPP crime#2006-02 has been solved.  At 10:31 am this morning, Budcrew turned himself in as the smiter from an early morning smite incident.  He has been found guilty of the following crime:

1) Smiting a LLPP founder witout warning or reason.

We would like to thank all those involved in solving this investigation.  A punshiment will be given and is described below.

PUNISHMENT: Being a Utica Football Fan is enough punishment, therefore no further punshiment will be given on this first offense.

"Emory College was closed briefly during the American Civil War; in November 1861, academic activity virtually ceased after its students had left to fight in the conflict. During the war, the college's buildings saw duty as a Confederate hospital and Union headquarters. Sadly, the library and other stored equipment met destruction."

If there are any Civil War historians out there, I would love to find the names of any Union soldiers who helped in the destruction of this school.  An LLPP Badge of Courage will be awarded to soldiers who were a part of this glorious event.  The color of that medal will be scarlet and brown in honor of St. Lawrences University's official football colors.

According to Wikipedia, there was no destruction at Emory & Henry during the war.
"The Federal prisoners at Emory and Henry College Hospital appear to have been treated well by the Confederate staff. One soldier said that he "was treated first rate while in the hospital." The board of trustees at Emory and Henry College met on November 12, 1864 to discuss the running of the hospital. They stated that the grounds were well taken care of; in fact, improvements were made to the facilities during the war. Unlike many schools during the Civil War, Emory and Henry College suffered no structural damage as result of the war. The only damage done in the hospital was to furniture and was repaired or paid for by the Confederate States of America.
