Only 2 games this week, early predictions as I need to stay away from boards through the bye week due to  depression following Hobart loss:

MMA       28      RPI     24    I think the Mariners run game will be too much for the Engineers as they stay in title race
Springfield   42     U of R  21     Springfield keeps hope alive for title

I will be rooting for the LL to "E8 itself", as the Hobart loss to RPI really messes the march to Canton excitement for the clash of 2 undefeated teams......congrats to RPI as the Engineers stayed disciplined and Hobart lost their cool/judgement/concentration on a few key plays

Watching RPI/Hobart game. RPITV is just incredible. Dlip just continues to be so impressed with the RPI sports coverage.

Not to stir the pot, but nobody else feels the ball was tipped, negating any DPI call in the game-winning drive for RPI against Hobart?

I don't mean to be nosy, but why the heck do you want to stir something up, Frank? Whatcha got cookin' in that pot?

Oh so now Frank decides to question a game changing call in the red zone at the end of a Hobart game  ;D ;D

Honestly I can't really tell.  Hobart didn't do themselves any favors committing endless penalties throughout the game however.

Yeah, I've never done such a thing... Ever... In all my frozen cat turd years...

That said, the ball looks crisp from the QB's hand and begins an unnatural wobble once it passes the linemen.  The linesman on that side might have missed that.  Sort of adds insult to injury.

That's D3 Football for you though.

I also didn't realize that RPI got FIVE first downs via penalty. I'm sure the statesman had a fun week of practice.

RPI was 2 of 13 on 3rd down and outgained 435 to 192. They did what they had to win, but sometimes games are more lost than won....

Frank, I watched the game with my son and we both said it was tipped that's why the ball lost momentum , fell slightly short and Hobart LB went over his back, it was a slight tip that can be seen on the replay changing ball flight but would have been tough for ref to see it live... we also saw a block in the back by RPI on the following kickoff(easy to see in replay)...No use complaining now as RPI made other plays to put themselves in a position to win, but officiating seems to be randomly suspect at this level ....After games at the Boz,  security on both sides of the field always says the visitors AND the home fans complain about the officiating as they leave the field...if not for...we would have won...Hobart's problem is they are playing too many close games for their talent level

That's basically why I gave them a C+ in my blog midseason review. Check it out if you haven't already and lmk what you think.

I watched RPI/MIT from field level near the endzone, and my take was that RPI is great defensively in the redzone, and forces offense to do things they may not want to do.  They are also disciplined and well coached.

MIT moved the ball on them and also out gained RPI in total yards, 1st downs, and 3rd down %.

The RPI mental approach to adversity is something to see. No moping around, no woe is me.

It's simply grind away as much as possible. They lost some really talented seniors and they still compete to the last whistle every game.

Though they also shoot themselves in the foot with penalties - if I see one more false start in the red zone I think my head will explode.

Congrats to MMA on the last minute win ....tough loss for RPI.. creates some extra drama for MMA in their last year in the LL...Bartman was rooting for the Mariners today and now the Statesman have great incentive to stay focused and play up to their ability to win the LL....The MMA have a real chance to upset the Saints and keep title hopes and a spot in the NCAA's real possibilities while next week Hobart and Springfield will have their own elimination game. The 6-0 Saints have some tough teams gunning for them the next few weeks and will have to earn every one...if they do win out they should be #1 in the East (although Alfred looks very good so far)...glad to see the prospect of exciting games for end of season
