I get that Mount Union just came off a loss and that they aren't the Mount Union of years past...but the smart money is still on them running through this region in convincing fashion.  I am rooting for Hobart and I'm glad that their strength (passing) seems to line up with Mounts weakness.  But at the same time...not going to blink an eye if Mount wins by 35.  It's no slight against Hobart.  More often than not they win convincingly.

Please prove me wrong though.  I would love it and it will give the east some much needed credibility!  Although I have a feeling if Hobart were to win all of the post pattern pundits from different regions will just cite Mount being down this year and nothing further.  Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give credit to the East as producing more than enough teams that can hang with anyone outside of the top 2-4 teams.

Shoot...now I can't wait to see what happens either way.  I've now prepared myself for either outcome.

No that's fair. Bad delivery for sure. Lesson learned.

But as a friend of mine said, the Chair basically admitted someone was going to get a bad pairing. Just happened to be it was Hobart who got the short straw. Cragg even said he didn't expect it and so you get an extra flight not to match 1 and 3 in one region but send a "4" to a "2" in another?

So it goes.
The question is....are they really a four from the North?

Pat,
I know they are ,in fact, rated #4.......but is a #4 from the North usually a 21 point favorite over #2 from the East....that's why I ask are they really a #4 North, or just another Mount Union team that has super powers and just happened to have a game fart against JCU? we will see....

Ahh, gotcha. Sorry.

There probably isn't enough track record to really know. A win for Hobart would go a long way toward counteracting the "But No. 7 seed John Carroll won three road games and won the East Region bracket once upon a time."

You'd think an east region team going on the road to beat #2 or #3 seeded John Carroll would be enough to counteract.  Involving the same region/conference/team and all.

You'd think, right? You guys need to push that narrative more. :)

Nice example by booby. So is this a damned if you do/don't game for the East...if Hobart loses it's , you see they can't even beat Mount in a down year and if they win it Bart will get some nice headlines with the caveat , well they beat an atypical Mount team in a down year ....I guess that will depend on how the winner does in the rest of the tournament. Well theory and analysis is suspended for a couple of hours at noon on Saturday when the Mount Union Raiders invade the BOZ , new territory for sure.....ya gotta love it😀

Yeah, it would be really cool if you guys were able to beat them and put the theory to the test of how the others respond  :)

Bartman- Grandpa 91 is a 'bart and Utica alum and he is rubbing it in!
Hell Grandma 91 is a Cortland alum - I was lucky to at least have had the pleasure of rubbing a victory in her face

Do the east proud!

The way I figure it the improbable is possible this year...Brexit, Cubs, Trump followed by an upset win by the 21 point underdog, 2% chance of winning Hobart Statesmen . Tell Grandpa 91 that the boys really believe they can win and are truly honored to host the defending champs ....may they have the strength and presence of mind for the entire game ...

JCU was kind of lucky to win that 2002 game. Hobart was one play away from going up 14-0 with 6 mins left in the 1st qtr when they decided to hand the ball to an OL on 4th down and of course he fumbled and it was returned 97 yards for a TD. Unbelievable turn of bad luck that changed the game completely.

Let's also be honest here on the flip side. This is not (and dlip is pretty sure Bartman will agree with him) Bart's best team in the last decade or so either. As a matter of fact dlip thinks this Bart team is the weakest (in comparison to other Bart teams) in some time. With SLU seemingly being a bit above average, the loss to a "not so good" RPI team, and having to beat more than a couple of "ok" teams at the end of the game one could argue this is a down Bart team that just has a ****ing nasty QB and WR.

The down year **** can be played from both sides. The Purple People Eaters are still the ****ing Purple People Eaters and a playoff victory over them is a ****ing incredible accomplishment no matter what. Mt is the clear favorite here in dlip's eyes without question. ****, most teams have a "Carroll" game once a year. Mt just had one once a ****ing decade. Don't be fooled by anyone fellas. The quality of player and depth this PPE team has, regardless of maturity, still sits hands down above most others on most days of the week, years, or decades.

Let's ****ing Go Pumpkinheads!
