SLU rolling out some of their commits on twitter: https://twitter.com/SLU_Football
Smart move with programs like Hobart and Utica having done it for a couple of seasons now. Looks like SLU is getting some good talent.

I thought I read on Swanstrom's Twitter that they couldn't announce names until May 1st. I'm guessing that's not correct?

I don't think there's a NCAA rule on that but it kind of makes sense if the school doesn't do rolling admissions and has a post-May 1 notification period. It could be more of these players are going ED 1 & 2 which coincides with NSD in Feb.

I suppose if the families are putting deposit money to reserve space in the class that's one thing, but if it's just a verbal commitment then that's a little risky. I remember an OL from down here in FL that had tweeted to the fact he was committed to going to WPI and then found out he was denied admission.

Actually there is a rule since 2015 - http://www.ncaa.org/division-iii-celebratory-signing-form - I just found.

Makes sense. Thanks.

I have a buddy who really doesn't like the GIFs, but it's obvious this is the new thing. Adapt or die!

Does anyone know anything about any of the recruits? Not just for SLU but for any teams. Can't say i'm up to speed on the high school talent.

Dlip noticed this on twitter the other day. He likes this from a fan perspective. Dlip has always found it challenging to see deep into d3FB recruiting. He thinks this will excite the recruits themselves, bring more excitement around the program itself, and is just another way of using social media to enhance a programs appeal to young people.

Any thoughts on the axing of two-a-days?

Yea I saw that.  I have mixed feelings about it.  I don't think anything can prepare you for that first game where it might be 80+ degrees and you are going cramp up during the game, and will feel it that night and the next morning.  Double sessions (if you are in some sort of shape) can really help you prepare for those games, possibly making them safer.  During that week of doubles, your body gets pounded but in a way it may be safer because it gets your body used to what you might face in that first game.  Kind of like a crossfit/high intensity workout.  They help prepare you for the lighter workouts, and that is pretty much what training is all about right?  Practice harder than you play and set your practice conditions at a higher level than your playing conditions and you will see results (winning)

On the other hand, double sessions can be dangerous if you aren't hydrated properly, or if you are out of shape, and I guess logically the less contact players have, the less concussions there are.  The first couple days of practice for me were also days where you get used to the helmet fitting your head.  I always got minor headaches from the first days of practice/contact, so maybe the limited contact is better for your head in these first couple days.

And of course the article/study shows that injuries happen more frequently during the preseason.  Is this because doubles do not allow the body to heal properly, or is it just the fact that players bodies aren't used to contact that early in a season?

LL Football alumni news is that Ali Marpet was elected player rep for the TB Bucs, showing his teammates respect.  In addition, they are going to give him a shot at the Center position...here is a quote from All Pro Gerald McCoy and teammate:
"Just from my analysis, I think Ali is a great guard. I think he'll be a dominant, like next-level center in my personal opinion," McCoy said. "He's a small-space guy, and you get him in a small space, you're in trouble. From here to here is all a center needs, and from here to here, with how athletic he is, he's got these grippers (where) once he puts his hands on you, you're in trouble. I truly believe, and you can stamp this and quote it: I believe Ali Marpet will be a dominant -- not good -- dominant center."
Pretty good praise for the Statesman....I am still hoping my Giants pick him up in a couple of years

What a great quote! dlip is just loving Marpet's success down in Tampa. What a great story and even as an NFL player he is rising towards to top, just incredible.

Looks like SLU just picked up a D-1 transfer at RB.  SLU football has come a long ways.

We may need to check his transcripts to verify the academic prowess.....especially if he gets more than 5 YPC this year.... good luck to the Saints ...see you and your new transfer RB in Geneva this year
