Guess I'll be passing through these boards on occasion. Not sure if Buff State is still on schedule to join LL ( at least that's a rumor around 1300 Elmwood-Football only) but with RPI and St Lawrence on my beloved BENGALS schedule this year, my curiosity has been aroused!

Bengals....Buff State is still set to join next year ......welcome to a wide open Liberty League next year....we are not sure what we have yet this year after Hobart and SLU losses last week

Pep, Brockport will smoke Ithaca from what I saw yesterday, watched both games.  The Fisher/Hobart game is interesting.  Hobart got smoked, Fisher was in the game but ran out of offense to keep up with W&J.  I think Fisher should win, but Hobart will not likely be that bad again.

Brockport had Saxons' backs to the wall last year at Yunie Stadium and has an outstanding team. Brockport coach Jason Mangone actually started at QB at Alfred one season, then bolted to Brockport to finish his playing career. He's built a quality program and it's looking like the Golden Eagles are taking flight to the top of the E8.

While the Ithaca game is now non-conference and the Bombers are probably not as intimidating on the road, IC took it to Brockport last year, 42-28, on South Hill. Pep would like to think the AU defense stepped up in the second half in Bomberland as opposed to thinking Ithaca went flat. Dan Swanstrom does not want to start 0-2 out of the gate. He'll have his Bombers ready to go.

Were Pep not taking a family vacation this weekend, he'd like to travel to B'port to see it for himself. But there's a 6-month-old grandson who needs to get to know his grandpeppy!

OK, Finally less than a week to the opening weekend for the LL teams(except for Rochester, as they remain in the beehive for one more week). Predictions for the opening weekend( 35-12 pick record in 2016):

Hobart 28(20)....      Brockport 17(34)
Alfred 21(20)....      Ithaca      10(17)
Husson 17(20)..        Union      10(7)
RPI      21(45)....      William Patterson 10(0)
SLU     24(7) .......... Utica        17(20)

No big upsets here , but will be rooting for Union and Ithaca to prove me wrong.....Go Liberty League!
3-2 last week on picks as Hobart and SLU disappointed, but LL only 1-4...so much for moving up in Conference rankings

This Week:

SJF                  35  Hobart               42...................A desperate game for both teams, score may be higher than this...I have to admit this may be wishful thinking on my part
Coast Guard       10  Union                24...................The weaker part of Union's schedule kicks in
YellowJax           7  Carnegie Mellon  35................... U of R woes continue
RPI                  28  WPI                   17................... RPI could be on a roll
SLU                 21  Norwich              10...................Larries get back on track
Ithaca              17 Brockport            28....................Ithaca D looks better than Hobart and puts a scare in overconfident Brockport but Germinerio is too much in the end

Pep, actually Brockport has beaten IC the last 2 years. Looks  like you got the score and venue reversed. Brockport beat Ithaca at Brockport last season 42-28 and Brockport won on South Hill (is that Ithaca ?) 27-17 in 2015 as well.

Oops....Pep knew that Ithaca went unbeaten at home in 2016. Knowing they are meeting in Brockport this year, Pep assumed they had played in Ithaca last year....looks like I'm one of those things assuming turns us into. (A big one, at that!) Thanks for the correction. That sort of changes everything, doesn't it?

Pep still believes Ithaca's defense will slow Brockport's attack. Those linebackers are very good!

I think Ithaca deserves a good deal of credit for Saturday. Going against a Top 25 team is never easy, but when you're breaking in an entirely new system to boot, that's a tall order. There are absolutely some things to work on. The passing game was almost entirely centered around Will Gladney (There were just 9 passing yards he wasn't a part of) and outside of Fron's long touchdown run, the Bombers struggled on the ground. It's going to take time. But we press on.

Other LL thoughts: Boy, that was a stunner in Hobart. 600 yards allowed? Ye gods. Brockport seems not to be missing a beat without Andrews. But if I'm Hobart, a 0 TD/3 INT showing from Sweeney has to be a bummer. He'll rebound, because he's too good not to, but wow, that was strange to see.

I have to agree with Frank on the end of the Union/Husson game. With no timeouts, Husson should have taken a knee after the 23-yard gain. Never liked that stuff

What a weird game St Lawrence played. Gave up a TD on offense, and the roughing the punter penalty at the end of the first half led to another score. And the Pioneers were stout on defense until the game was mostly in hand.

RPI looked alright, from what I can glean. Probably should clean up the pass defense though.  ;)

Bombers,
Thanks for the observations, I think IC performed admirably under the new coach . I am fascinated by the Ithaca-Brockport matchup because I think Ithaca has a solid defense and may catch an overconfident Brockport  team after their performance against Bart. I think Hobart gave up 350 yards in the first half when it looked like Brockport could only be stopped by their own mistakes. Hobart defense stiffened( to some degree) in the second half but not enough. Ithaca hopefully will perform better(not sure how they could be worse) but Germinerio has some serious weapons in a surprising Justin Morrison, a D2 transfer RB from Gannon,  some fast WR's(or Hobart is just slow?) and the Oline was effective on the run and pass. The Hobart Offensive Line was ineffective in protecting Sweeney most of the day as he hurried constantly. Depending on the Bombers performance we will see if the Golden Eagles are for real. I think they are.
My Statesmen will be playing Fisher at home and I am expecting a high scoring game as the offenses outperform the defenses. I was really hoping for a 4-0 team going in to the IC game on 9/30....now getting one win at a time is realistic.
I think RPI may surprise the LL this year, but the WPI game should be a good test.
Union should get a win against CG and Uof R should struggle. We will see what the Saints do against Norwich before the Boombers play them in the Northcountry the following week. Right now the LL  is wide open .

I've been waiting for the podcast to show up in my podcast app until I realized it wouldn't be showing up with the new video and found you on facebook. I'm not one to watch a video and much prefer audio (listening now in a different tab). Is there any possibility of ripping just the audio and keeping that in the traditional podcast format while having video available on Facebook for those who prefer that?

I am just hoping Hobart does not play like Hartwick against Fisher....but you are who you play like....I can't argue with you picking Fisher based on last weeks performance....but I can only hope Cragg gets the most out of the talent he has and we get back on track....I think it will be a shoot out as the weather looks good for Saturday
Video was good and Germinerio and Brockport are very talented....just painful to relive the game :'(

What I hate is that one of these teams is going to start 0-2
These are 2 teams that are much better than that record would notate.

Yeah, but the good news is, it's all OOC.

I think back to something Swanstrom has harped on since he got here. He listed three goals: Win the LL, win Cortaca, and go undefeated at home. It's not to say he doesn't care about non-conference road games, or that they don't want to go 10-0. But he realizes, at the end of the day, that dropping one of those games isn't the end of the world.

Don't get me wrong, you don't want to start 0-2. But both these teams will have their shot.
