Assumptions seem reasonable at this point in the season.....so your sayin' Hobart has a chance ;D, Bombers just need to win out to burst everyone's bubble...lots of interesting games to play

Bombers...Guess what...you hurt this proud Union fan's feelings. The Dutchman are playing much improved football this season and while they are still capable of losing to ANY other LL team they are certainly capable of beating each of them too. Let's look at their upcoming schedule. This week they host St. Lawrence, a team that hasn't shown itself to be as strong as last year. I expect a Union upset victory. Then there's Rochester, Union will be a road favorite. That could put Union at 6-1 going into a home battle with Hobart, a team Union always plays tough. Game 9 is at Butterfield. The Bombers were extremely fortunate to beat Union last year and will not be happy to see Union with a chance to ruin their title hopes. Finally a home "Shoes" game vs. RPI...oh how sweet it may be. Whatever transpires, win one or two or maybe ALL 5 ? Union is most definitely still in the conversation.

It's a thought experiment in response to a question , though, not a prediction of what will happen.

The question was who wins a three-way tie between RPI/IC/Bart where all five teams go 4-1 in the conference. Yes, Union could win all five, but then there's no question to be analyzed. This specific scenario requires Union to lose those three games, but it doesn't mean they will.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but it nice to see Ithaca running some good inside zone and power out of the spread.

Also, if Union does happen to get involved with a 3 way tie instead of the other three teams we were talking about (RPI/Hobart/Ithaca), then it looks like the "easy" schedule helps them more than anything right?  Did they do the smartest thing by scheduling the worst OOC games?

I don't know.

Union's got a loss to 3-1 Husson, and with Anna Maria, Alfred State, and Gallaudet on the schedule, there's no way they won't get to five wins. Likewise, 0-4 Gallaudet isn't going to help them, as they probably have losses to Maritime and Husson coming.

Morrisville is 2-2, but have yet to play a road game. They almost certainly have losses against Alfred and Brockport coming, which means they need to go 3-1 against: Fisher, Cortland, Hartwick, and Utica. That could be tough. Curry will get to five wins, but Coast Guard could go either way.

Up to your larger post above bombers, what will be interesting is seeing which teams have winning records at the end of the season.  Will WNEU, Morrisville, or Curry's W/L percentage decide who wins the LL?

Yea I say SLU beats either Union, RPI or Hobart and that Ithaca loses one more LL game as well.  Real early to narrow this down to 3 teams, especially seeing how IC snuck by SLU the same as they did Hobart.

dlippiel

Regarding dlip's beloved Dutchmen dlip will echo Ufanbill's thoughts. Union can most certainly defeat any LL opponent this season. This is certainly a realistic statement especially in light of many of the signs of growth we see from this team/program each week. Honestly, dlip is happy about the 4-1 record but the level of competition does play a part in this. dlip will say this with certainty that his focus is not really on the W's and L's totally (maybe 40%) but what he sees on the field each week and the feeling around the program each week. However getting the W's is huge for the team's confidence and growth moving forward. This is why to dlip, Behrman is a genius in the way he scheduled.

With all that being said to dlip, aside from the Rochester game, Union is still an underdog until they can show, in league play, they can defeat a strong league team. He is not saying this to lower expectations or play it safe he is saying it because he thinks it's true. dlip realistically expects Union to get 1 win out of the Hobart, RPI, IC, SLU games). Please know that while dlip stayed quite positive through the ****ing down years he still knows how far this team and program must continue to go in order to have things completely "turned" around. One year at 4-1 won't do it for him and that's ok. If it took you a long ass time to walk into the woods it is most likely going to take you a long ass time to walk out of them.

dlip is like a fan with PTSD or who has suffered trauma (this is said tongue and cheek not at all meant to be compared to people who have really suffered PTSD/Trauma/etc). It's going to take a lot of new, positive, growth experiences to basically heal the deep wounds that came at the hands of the mother****ing free fall Union took from D3 grace.

Bombers798891

I want to reiterate, I don't think Union is necessarily going to go 5-5. I was running a hypothetical scenario about a possible tiebreak regarding three teams going 4-1 in conference, none of whom have played Union, which required Union to go 0-3 in those games. I did not mention the St Lawrence game because, for the purposes of this scenario, it wasn't really relevant. Once the Dutchmen beat Rochester (which I think they will), they get to .500, which renders the St. Lawrence game moot for the scenario.

It's certainly possible Union runs the table. But it's possible Ithaca does. Or RPI. Or even Rochester. The point wasn't to run through the most likely scenario, simply to figure out how a specific one unfolded.

+K for taking the slings and arrows hurled at you from the Dutchmen faithful....it is all my fault for bringing up and confirming the rules on the tie breaker, but I feel I have hidden behind the rock while you have defended a perfectly logical "what if scenario" between RPI, Ithaca and Hobart in the event of a 3 way tie. All other LL members can substitute their team for one of these three to speculate on the tie breaker . The Union faithful are truly on the way out of dlip's theoretical woods....and  this makes it all the more interesting down the stretch....the fact is that all LL teams have a shot right now as there is no team that has substantially separated themselves to this point, although Ithaca's 2-0 record is enviable....Thanks to Bombers for his contribution and GLAD WE GINNED UP SOME INTEREST...the board needs some spice 8-)
