Dlip wants to congratulate Ithaca on their big win over at Union at Butterfield today. The Bombers deserved the win and dlip hopes U can beat RPI next week to secure the title for the Bombers. Great game IC and congrats.

Saying a prayer for the injured Bomber senior WR.

Cortland has defeated Utica 24-23.  If I'm reading the standings correctly, that means Cortland is guaranteed to be the E8 representative in the new E8-LL 'bowl' game, and the scenario of back to back Cortaca weeks is now in place.

Congratulations to Ithaca. The Bomber defense didn't allow Union to establish anything in the passing game. Griffin Beal was not a factor. He caught ZERO balls and actually his fumble on a kickoff return KO'd the Dutchmen. The "shuffle pass" that worked so well against Hobart was snuffed out by the Bombers. I kept waiting for another wrinkle, a reverse, a flea flicker or a halfback option pass...it never came. The only "new" play was a middle screen to the TE that picked up a 1st down but they never called it again.  Cascione only really tried to go deep once and he threw an ill advised pick on 1st down...a killer. Union let down after that and Ithaca pounced. Game over.

I've watched the last 3 bomber games and their defense is special.  It's almost like they know what play is coming.  Guys don't fall for play action fakes and they pursue to the ball hard.  I'd almost say it's a type of defense that could shock teams in the playoffs.  Not sure what happened at Eli but they are very good now

Does the LL championship come down to the RPI/Union game?  RPI wins they get the AQ or Ithaca gets it if Union wins?  LL was very competitive this year.

Bartman

I think RPI has been focused since the back to back losses to Buff State and Hobart and the Engineers should be favored to win the Shoes, but Union has great spirit and outperformed this season , although yesterday they ran into the best defense in the LL. I think Ithaca will perform better in the playoffs than RPI if they get in because of their defense and offensive potential(still developing).  Hobart certainly had enough talent to win this year  ,but game management was below par which is unfortunate since we are losing some important talent pieces....I can't believe this team did not even qualify for the NYS Bowl.....I wish we would participate in the ECACs for the potential for a last feel good win but I think the budget will go to an NCAA Championship run for women's soccer and possibly men's soccer .....  Statesmen Football  will rise again...but the landscape has changed in the LL as Ithaca and Buff State will make the league even more competitive and league domination is unlikely for any member

Wesleydad,
You are correct...a shoes game win by RPI and they're in...RPI loss and IC is in. Congrats to the Wolverines on another NJAC title and win over SU.

Thanks Bartman.  Salisbury has a 6 3 225 pound running back that Wesley had no answer for yesterday.  Stopped him on the key 4th down play when it mattered but he just ran over and through people all day.  It has been a good season after the tough loss to Del Val, but I think they are set up to win a few in the playoffs.  The QB play has improved and he is hitting the long passes, 3 for TD's yesterday.  In the end it will come down to the O line as it always does.

Batman, probably grasping at straws here, but is there any chance that there could be two teams from the LL that could advance to the playoffs?  If Union beats RPI, then Ithaca gets the AQ (both finish 4-1 in the league, but Ithaca wins the head to head).  Union ends the year at 8-2, best overall record in the LL.  Any chance for an at large bid??  Not that I am rooting for Union here, but that would leave RPI and Hobart at 3-2 (assuming a win at Rochester) in the league, and Bart wins the head to head, and then goes to the Empire State bowl.  Is there still a ray of hope here???

That and it looks like there's only 5 pool C bids instead of 6.

Oline,
The ship has left the dock, set sail and won't return until next fall after a projected 52-0 game against U of R.....Either Ithaca or RPI in the NCAA's....slight edge to RPI(this will kill me since we beat them 30-0) and Ithaca probably gets a second shot at Cortaca....which is what Bombers warned us about......if Union beats RPI, Ithaca goes to the dance(timely move to LL and I think Ithaca can win a game or 2 with their defense and emerging offense) and Union gets NYS Bowl....I wish Hobart would consider an ECAC bid, because I would like to see the team against a competitive team like Salisbury and perform well....but I think the ship has sailed :'(

I just went on to the ECAC website (http://www.ecacsports.com/sports/2017/10/24/2017%20D3FBFEST%20Declared%20Teams.aspx), and it lists the "declared" schools, RPI and Ithaca are listed, no Hobart.  I guess the schools still have some time to decide if they may want to participate.

ITH radio

Yes, the deadline is Monday, 11/13, but we think the ECAC may consider adjusting it slightly. Will see, but as of know there is enough of a critical mass to get the four games aligned.

This week's Shoes game is going to really be great! It's been awhile since a game between these two had some real playoff meaning. The Dutchmen come in playing for their first post season honor in quite some time (New York Bowl) and RPI comes in looking for an LL title.

Looking at this season's results dlip really does not know exactly what the **** to expect from the Engineers on Saturday. When they have been bad they have been a bit worse than you would think possible. When they have been good, they have been quite good and showed the type of game that warrants a top five east region ranking. The D can certainly shut it down across the board and the offense can play ****ing tennis...back and forth...and then blow it up. If dlip is guessing he expects a very focused Engineer team on Saturday. One that will run the ball often, alternate mixing in short throws to the flat and middle of the field, and then take a couple of chances deep. dlip knows one thing for sure the Dutchmen O will have to work for everything they get.

On Union's side of the field they will certainly need to limit the mistakes and capitalize on their TOP. Last week IC used Union's offensive strength of ball possession against them by simply not letting them score. Union had the ball ****ing twice in the first half for like 8 hours a piece and only showed 3 points for it. IC on the other hand started to capitalize and forced Union into a panic which resulted in turnovers. IC was excellent last week and RPI will need to be the same to win on Saturday. The game will rest on Union's ability to control the line of scrimmage, pressure the excellent freshman QB, and capitalize on ball possession.

You know one thing dlip likes about this weekend, and believe him, dlip has come a long way from being negative, is that the Dutch can play big spoiler. dlip will never forget 2006 when the Shoes game was played on that **** ass 86' field when Union had already wrapped up the LL title but desperately needed the win for momentum's sake heading into the NCAAs. RPI beat our ass and on the way out this RPI fan was razing dlip. He looked at her and like a bitter five year old said, "have fun playing with yourselves next week (referring to any meaning in their season being gone). We'll be busy in the NCAA's." She looked at dlip and said, "At least we beat you and you know what? You're gonna lose next week because not only did we just beat you we completely deflated you." She was so right!!! Fisher ****ing toyed with us the following week and embarrassed Union out in Pittsford.

So come Saturday dlip hopes the Dutchmen not only defeat RPI, but ****ing deflate them! dlip would love nothing more than to send IC to the tourney and RPI to their asses and remind them that Hobart's monkey stomping of them was very real.
