When the debate originally happened on boards that preceded this one there was an endzone angle that looked right down on it(The Team's film). I had it saved for a while but life happened and I can no longer find it. Someday maybe I'll be able to reignite it with film.

Looking forward to this week. Both RPI v Ithaca and Union v Hobart. If I remember correctly Ithaca last year had a less than memorable non-league performance and then came in and disrupted the crap out of the league play. That's what I am looking for out of the Statesmen this year. We'll see how they respond to being the hunter rather than the hunted.

Nice ****ing post! +k This is what Dutch Boy is worried about. He believes Bart has some excellent athletes and are in the process of getting it together.

Long time lurker first time poster. I am the d-tackle that stuffed Union on the goal line in that game. I'd dispute your take on that call and also be available for the 30 for 30 interview if needed.

I cannot confirm the brawl. I don't remember anyone talking about it in my years there.

They should postpone the game this week while the FBI conducts an investigation.

Welcome to THE BOARD Statesman. I was not at that '04 game but I remember watching video. As I recall it was a fixed angle camera shot that came from midfield and didn't show anything definitive, I do know that Union players were just as adamant that the ball crossed the plain BUT... As for the brawl. I was at that game and I agree it didn't happen.

Before I get started on this week's important picks, I just wanted to be clear about one thing, when I was in college , I DRANK BEER.  At times I drank a lot of beer and before my first game freshman year they came to my room and said you need to come out and drink beer....I said no, no we have a game tomorrow, we must be ready, but I was weak, very weak, I went out and drank beer and rode all the way to Canton ,New York in the early morning with no beer. During the game I was kinda fuzzy and sometimes saw two Saints when there was only one....But I DID NOT Black out.  I had to spend the whole game trying to block and tackle the real Saint. I think we won, I don't remember the score, but I do remember getting back to Geneva and drinking more beer.....Genny Cream draft BEER in glass pitchers at the Oaks......I liked it....The next weekend was a bye and I visited my friend in New Haven and we drank more beer with his Yale football teammates.....I never saw any of those now famous  ***dos , only more beer, some girls were there from Vassar and they drank wine and wanted to find the ***dos , and not the football players...it is hard to relate to wine drinkers that like **dos when you like beer...Good times back then.... and another bet with Mach and I will drink more beer whether I win or lose.

Week Six LL Predictions

Ithaca               21                  RPI             17            Home advantage to the Bombers at Butterfield....could go either way but home field is a big factor

SLU                  21                  Rochester      7            Rochester just doesn't have the horses yet

Let the REAL games begin!

Week Six LL Predictions

Hobart              21                  Union          28            I really hope I am wrong, but the Hobart D will play their best game but it won't be enough as Union scores late

Ithaca               21                  RPI             17            Home advantage to the Bombers at Butterfield....could go either way but home field is a big factor

SLU                  21                  Rochester      7            Rochester just doesn't have the horses yet

Really looking forward to Shirley Jackson taking it up the pooper this weekend at Butterfield... ;D It'll be nice to see their overrated ass get dropped from the top 25 to boot!

I'm pretty sure SAJ only delivers it up the pooper. Such an aggressive post by the Dutch Pickle Smoocher. I will let that one go from here on out....

In response to BM(not to be confused with Bowel Movement), I also enjoy drinking beer. In college, I never could get into the Upstate NY obsession with Genny/Genny Cream/Genny Extra Creamy/Genny Egg Drop Soup Style/Genny on the Block, etc etc. I DID however drink a whole bunch of Busch Light. I ate Busch, drank Busch, slept Busch, tapped Busch, even licked Busch from time to time. I just liked how the Busch looked and smelled I guess. So delicious. The more Busch I drank, the more Busch I needed, and the more Busch I got. I had an insatiable appetite for Busch. It was a vicious cycle. I wish I had some Busch right now. It sure would bring back to a lovely time. Back then, it was like they gave out Busch for free anywhere I went. Maybe they did?

But back to basics...

Tough and exciting week in the LL. It will start to mold the longer term outlook for the season and we'll all have a better idea who is a contender and who is a bunch of cross-dressing sallies(residing in Schenectady). So here we go:

Mach's Fearless Predictions:

RPI - 21
Ithaca - 13
I hope the game doesn't come down to RPI's kicker. But Ithaca will be tough to score on and I think RPI can score just a few more points than IC(Dumb People). I think these teams are neck and neck, but I think Ithaca's offense is their achilles heal and it will burn them this week.

Union - 13
Hobart - 21
If a bear sh!ts in the woods, does anyone smell it, minus the bear himself? If a fight broke out in the endzone in Schenectady 2+ decades ago, but no one remembers it, except PA, did it really happen? If this game weren't in Geneva, i'd say Union would still lose, and it would smell like bear sh!t, because, well...Schenectady. I like Orange Drank. No one likes Poopie weird brown drank. Except the pickle boy and some dude named Bill.

St. Lawrence - 21
Rochester - 13
I really hope there is a video feed for this game so I don't watch it.

Bartman

Mach,
Busch Lite, really??? It figures. Genny Cream Ale= Male Ale.

I hope your Hobart pick is right....I do know that each side of the ball will have a great game plan in order to pull off the same upset that Union delivered to the PHeads last year.

I am thinking the Engineers will go down like the slideruler geeks they are on Saturday, setting up a desperate game on 10/20 in Troy with the Statesmen.

With the Saxons-Bengals game kicking off at 6 p.m., Pep is toying with the idea of heading up to Geneva to see the 12 noon brawl at the Boz between the old-time ICAC foes.

Nah just football and fun. Some **** head woke Dutch Boy up to that. By the way, nice ****ing homer pick. Your Polytechnic pussies get exposed on Saturday for sure. At least the game is in Ithaca so more than 4 ****ing dorks and a band will show up. Can't wait to hear Dutch Boy's favorite color commentator verbally document the Engineers loss as well. Going to be a fun weekend!

My take on Union-Hobart:

http://gohobart.blogspot.com/2018/10/week-6-union-game-preview.html?m=1

Thanks for the breakdown of Union vs Hobart JB and Frank..  You did a creditable job of describing the Dutchmen with a couple of clarifications. Saying that the Union O-line has "the advantage of starting all of the games in the 2017 season" is not quite accurate. Greenly, Ehrets and Katchadurian are returning starters but this is Hood's first year getting appreciable playing time and he now alternates with FY Ted Driscoll... Hamilton, well he's a special case in that he won the starting LG job in both his Soph. and Jr. years only to be knocked out for the season in the opener twice . To his credit he has fought his way back and now anchors the RT position.
On the defensive side much of Union's prowess can be attributed to their depth at pretty much every position with the 2nd teamers get regular playing time. With the riches of depth coach Behrman has molded the D into a very formidable unit. Something that just wasn't happening a few years ago.

My take on Union-Hobart:

http://gohobart.blogspot.com/2018/10/week-6-union-game-preview.html?m=1

"On paper this should be a 37-14 Union win." Hmmm, a 23 point loss predicted by ITH....I hope you are totally wrong ......I am praying for a replay of the 2004 game when the goal line stuff by Walt Bennett assisted by Tony Clemente brought glory and the playoffs to the Statesmen in a nail biter OT win. The gutsy comeback wins by our JV at Alfred and St. John Fisher this year shows there is depth and grit in the program despite not having as many "stars"/All-American prospects on this year's team. If everyone does their job, the Statesmen can make a statement......for one day I will suspend my respect for the resurgence of the Dutchmen program as the Statesmen hopefully stuff their surge like Walt Bennett did in 2004. Since Walt is one of our current coaches, the karma should be on our side ;D

Pep is aways welcome at the Boz......as long as you root for the underdog Statesmen as one of those old ICAC
competitors of the Saxons...+k for considering the trip to GTown

Bartman, thanks for putting a names to the DLine guys that held the line in 2004.  I have spoken to Coach Bennett several times in the past couple of years, and hopefully he has instilled the passion in his current players that will be needed to jam up a high flying Union offense
