OMG, the Larries played a whole game and beat Mville 32-22. SLU passing game looked as good as advertised , but Saints defense spooked Flatow with max pressure, although he put together a couple of drives late . Mville receivers were not as effective this week, so maybe Mville not as good as I thought , or Larries have upped their game and should not be overlooked this year especially with Grochot at QB(390 yards, 4 TDs all to Viscardo). Congrats to the Saints on a nice OOC  LL win.

Wow a win, didn't think I'd see one of those this year.    Much better game.  Down our top 2 receivers as well.  Grochot is finding his groove.  Offensive line still needs to step it up a bit but that was a good step forward.

Nice win by St. Lawrence. It clearly indicates nobody should overlook them, which is great for the LL.
Of course I'll be in Schenectady today watching Union vs Springfield. It won't be easy for the Dutchmen. Springfield
can pop a big play at any time.Look for Union to prevail 31-14. The starters will get plenty of playing time. With RPI/Utica kick off at 6:00 maybe I'll head over to "Troylet" later. 8-) Good luck to ALL the LL teams.

UofR loses at home to Alfred State. Just get on with it and drop football already. We'll take Fisher, the E8 can have Alfred State, it'll all work itself out.

Just watched the finish of the RPI/Utica game. The 4th best team in the LL is 2 points better than the 4th best team in the E8. ;)...The important thing is WHERE WAS BOB CONWAY ???.
Nice solid win by RPI. They showed their offense does have some punch and their D remains tough.

This afternoon the Union Dutchmen showed sloppy domination of Springfield. The Union offense moved the ball well but hurt themselves with penalties(12 for 109 yards), fumbles and dropped passes. LL 1st teamers Ike Irabor(2 fumbles) and Andre Ross Jr.(2 dropped TDs) had numerous scoring opportunities that would have squashed the Pride's spirited comeback attempt but mistakes keep Springfield in the game. :o QB Will Bellamy had some problems of his own missing an open Ross Jr. for a sure TD. The Union D, lead by LB Colin Lama's 15 tackles, did an excellent job containing Springfield's option attack... Now an off week for the Dutchmen before meeting Hobart. They will need it to lick some wounds( they had 6 different guys go down with various injuries...but they all returned) and get out the bugs. They played like it was their 1st game instead of their 3rd. Could that be a function of the starters not getting enough playing time in the first two? Certainly a case could be made.

Nice job by Mach with his picks this week. Fair is fair. Nailed everything except he had the bottom feeders of the LL switched. St.Lawrence won and Rochester lost. Maybe there is something to his omnipotence. ;D

Carnage in the D3football Top 25 rankings yesterday. No fewer than 8 ranked teams lost and many others had surprisingly close victories. For example #'s 10,11 & 12 all lost with Linfield losing to Redlands a week after coming east to play Rowan. This should help LL teams move up the poll this week. Look for Ithaca to move into the Top 20 and Hobart to hit the board, maybe even RPI and Union will most likely be getting voter points. Of course with LL play starting up in the next few weeks head to heads will determine just how far up our LL champion might go but it's good news for the LL to possibly get that coveted 2nd NCAA berth.

Heads would explode like when clayton bigsby takes his hood off of there were 5-7 LL & CC teams in the top 25.

Bombers798891

I said back in preseason that the biggest thing for the Bombers wasn't going to be the offense or defense, but fixing special teams.

The coaching staff clearly agreed, because first-year kicker Nicholas Bahamonde has been the biggest new addition to the team, IMO.

Last year, the Bombers went 5-for-10 on FGs, and 28-31 on XP (which does not include the missed XP against RPI before the Bombers went for 2 and missed), and 1 touchback.

This year, the Bombers are 3-for-3 on FGs, and 11-for-12 on XP, with *eight* touchbacks.

The focus all season has been on Germinerio and the WRs, but the kicking game improvements are the biggest upgrade IMO

Ice Bear says he's happy with the Union win...he's happy with any win.

Ice Bear says Union's O was quite out of sync all day and the D played very well bottling up the Pride O for most of the day.

Ice Bear now believes that Union's first two games hurt them more than helped them as the offensive players struggled to adjust to the Pride's physicality and consistent intensity.

Ice Bear asks Ike to please hold onto the football.

Ice Bear does not know if this makes any sense...but he'll say it anyway...Ice Bear believes his beloved Dutch could certainly defeat Hobart in two weeks but could also get run the **** over. He can see it both ways with leaning more towards the latter after yesterday's performance. Ice Bear credits the Pride for their toughness and their constant fight. There was no ****ing give up on that sideline...none.

Ice Bear congratulates Hobart, RPI, Ithaca (minus Joe G) and SLU on their victories yesterday. Big wins for RPI and Ithaca. RPI did what they needed to do after the tough loss last week. Ice Bear gives credit where it is due.

Ice Bear agrees with Unionpalozza (how ever the **** you spell it) that no one in the LL, at this point, should be scared of the Dutch.

Ice Bear wishes all, especially Jm"coleslaw," a great Sunday evening...

Not to worry Ice Bear, the Dutchmen's extra week of practice , film analysis and rest in friendly Schenectedy before the Statesmen make the drive on the Thruway for the LL opener on  10/5 should make  the Dutchies favorites( this of course, is not Bartman's actual prediction at this point). The Pumkinheads will knock it around with the Red Hawks next Saturday and hope to get another win, but Bartman is very concerned about MSU and another 80 degree day. Our rotation on the DLine and the depth at linebacker have been keys in the heat as well as coaching adjustments by Coach DeWall and Baccus to improve second half performances and  pull out come from behind wins the last 2 weeks.  The Statesmen will show up and do their best to get off to a good start and try to forget the shi**y start we had the last time they visited Bailey. Passing game has been very effective as well as having Hackett, All-American kicker, who was the difference against Rowan.  It should be great fun to get the LL season started .

Machiavelli

Not a single vote in the Top 25 for Union, WPI, or Endicott. Feels a little strange.

Endicott basically gave Wesley the game. They choked down the stretch. Wesley moves up to 14. Every bit as good as Wesley yesterday, not a single vote. Usually I poo poo on the New England teams but this Endicott team might be the real deal and actually played an opponent where they could prove it.

WPI beat RPI who is still picking up 30 points in the poll and have been pretty impressive and solid in their other 2 games. Nuthin.

Union....they suck. But they have won with some style and there should have been some anticipation of them being pretty good with what returned this year. Nada.

I don't think any of them should be top 25 right now, don't get me wrong. But not a single vote for any of the 3 feels weird.
