Garnet

I just caught up on the last few pages here in the LLPP.

Mach, don't go anywhere. I really enjoy your posts as your observations are pretty much spot on. The humor, also great. Please keep it coming.

All the TOP talk, zzzzz.  The best defense is a great offense. Defense wins championships. Always has been always will be.

Plan next season after the current season ends.

Ice Bear can see it both ways. To IB, for this program right now, the obvious is that nothing would be better than an undefeated season, the Shoes trophy, and an NCAA win. As far as prioritizing between the two...Ice says **** it. Throw the kitchen sink at RPI on Saturday, throw it all at the game that is the longest football rivalry in the state of NY, go for the trophy and win over the hearts of your classmates (wait Union students support for sports is pure ****...**** them), go all in and move forward from there. One game at a time.

One thing that has impressed Ice the most about the Engineers is the way in which they bounced back from getting their asses handed to them at the end of last season by U. Honestly, from that point Ice thought they were ****ed no matter who they played in the tourney. That wasn't the case and the Engineers went on a very impressive post season run. If Union loses on Saturday Ice will be pulling for that scenario as opposed to what happened in 2006, which Ice is still ****ing devastated about. If Union wins on Saturday it will be a regular season finale to never forget.

To Ice, this team is as special as the early 80's Dutchmen whom Bagnoli brought out from oblivion. Behrman seems to be doing much of the same thing. Coach B is really starting something special here. The downfall of the Dutch was a ****ing long, slow, painful process that paralleled a decade long colonoscopy and root canal combined. To be in this position right now is over the moon. Hoping for the best on Saturday. Ice believes his Dutch have it in them.

I'm surprised Behrman has done so well with so many things stacked up against him, particularly the sabotage of the AD and Administration...

Too soon?

I speak only for myself here...The decline of Union football 2013-2015 can be attributed to many things but IMO it was not because Union didn't have talent on the field. So what was it? Football is the ultimate team sport. The best players can't be successful if their teammates are not all pulling on the same rope in the same direction.(my favorite coach speak, but true). I've always felt that the primary role of a coach is to give your team the best chance to win the game. At Union this simply wasn't happening. IMO they were soft, unprepared and unable to successfully run the plays and schemes that were called for. What was done about it? Seemingly nothing. Week after week, poor play calling, poor execution and poor effort culminated in a winless season. The players? The coaches? The administration? I know what I saw. Things are different now.

I have no information on the status of any Union injuries. I did hear a TV interview with coach Behrman tonight where he inferred that the Dutchmen were all in for the Shoes. I expect that 10-0 and retaining the trophy means everyone will be pulling on that rope.

So chalking one up for scheduling the toughest teams for OOC schedule.  Since Hobart has one of the highest SOS in the country, despite losing to Union and IC, they are now ranked 8 in the East.  Also, they have not yet been mathematically eliminated from a playoff spot!  It would take several miracles, and 4 upsets, but going into week 11, playoff hopes have not been completely vanquished.  In reality, the goal should be winning out, and getting invited to the NY State Megabowl.

As much as I'd like to extend the TOP discussion, I think I will put out the final picks of the LL season:
(35-10 pick record, and LL is 16-11 in OOC games)

Hobart(Team DeWall)      48     Rochester(Team Martinovitch)         7         The battle of Hobart alum coaches is won by DeWall as the Yellowjackets future is in the hands of future recruits.

St Lawrence                   35      Buffalo State                                21         Grochot has another good game and the Larries end the season on a positive note. The Bengals show well and look to make noise in 2020.

Union                             38       RPI                                            24          The Shoes are worn by the Dutchmen as they come back from an early deficit as Bellamy and Irabor are cool under pressure and deliver an undefeated regular season(last one was 2005). From 0-10 to 10-0 in four years, impressive....now don't blow my pick ;D

Ithaca                            45        Cortland                                     38          The Germ starts and wins the game on a Vito TD in the final 2 minutes after throwing a pick six only minutes earlier. Nabi waits for next year .

           Union -NCAA
           Ithaca- ECAC Bowl home game
Hobart- NYS Megabowl -travel to Cortland or Alfred

Pretty solid attempt here BM. Hobart game is a blowout. Larries should win big too. I like Ithaca in a barn burner, as well.

You screwed up the Shoes game. Final Score, RPI 76 Union 2.

Just looked at the Playoff Projections. I haven't paid a ton of attention to the ECFC but, my god....There's a team that Rochester would likely beat going to the playoffs. That's sad and just wrong.

The fact that you're just noticing this scares me.  I mean, there have been umpteen podcast and other mentions of what's been developing in the ECFC and about Dean's ineligibility, including the D3football.com ATN Podcast and Quick Hits.  Obviously, JU needs to start his "In the Muddle" podcast soon to help enlighten you, Mr. D3.

Looks like Bartman's first roommate...the recruited kicker. I overlooked his wardrobe because he brought the TV....although it was kinda creepy when he always followed me to the showers, but never took off his underwear :o...oops TMI......but he was really in to TOP .

The fact that Mach was ignorant of the ECFC quality and available D3 Football Podcasts just shows that Mach actually has a life Frank....which is very possibly FAKE NEWS.......Suggest that JU and Mach make their picks as guests of Frank and James.....I would pay for that ;D
