Interesting piece of news per a release from Lord Shirley yesterday...

<Paraphrased> RPI will be 'allowing' families of seniors only vs. Ithaca on October 30th(same for a few other sports on certain dates). This is limited to 4 family members per senior, no one over the age of 12. They will require a liability waiver be filled out, proof of vaccination, AND a negative PCR test within 48 hours. They will be banished to the visiting side stands in assigned seats(separated from students, staff, and faculty) and masks must be worn at all times.

THIS ENTIRE THING IS RIDICULOUS!!!! As Darth Jackson continues her travels, lack of social distancing, and non-mask wearing. What a complete joke she has single-handedly made RPI. I will cheer for the football team, but I will NOT support RPI as an Institution any longer, unless she gets pushed out on her ass where she belongs in short time.

Here is the entire list of what these people are being put through:

1) Pre register online. Don't know what that involves since I never had to do it ANYWHERE else.
2) Provide proof of vaccination. Not that big a deal, About two thirds of people are already fully vaccinated. A number already have third shots.
3) Provide a negative PCR test administered within 48 hours of the event family members wish to attend. Not as easy. My pharmacy does the tests but cannot return results within 48 hours, PERIOD. However, they refer to a nearby urgent care center that can "MOST OF THE TIME". It is also free at the center but only for the insured. Self insured or uninsured and it's about $150.
4) Sign a liability waiver also on line. Don't know what that involves since I never had to do it ANYWHERE else.
5) Wear a mask outdoors the entire time you are there. Just as you know who did at the INDOOR conference in Washington.
6) Family of players limited to units of four will receive assigned seating in the visitor's section bleachers only and be completely separated from the students, faculty and staff in the stadium proper. Further, all family units will be socially separated from other family units by at least two seats. Just as you know who was separated by two seats from the other panelists at the conference in Washington. In addition, as the great announcer Don Pardow used to say "and that's not all Bill!!!" outdoor johns will be provided!!! Not much but, especially if you ever been in one of those things, MAY possibly beat going in the woods.

All of this just to go to a freaking outdoor game in a 5,000 plus seat stadium that often did not even draw four figures before the pandemic (in fact, less than many high school games around here). Are you kidding me!!! Are very many of the family members even going to consider doing all this or will they just stay on the dammed hill and use the woods for just one more home game. Especially since they know they can just as easily travel to the three remaining away games and enjoy that day like normal human beings. Remember, next to none of the families live in the Capital District anyway. Travel and expense wise, it really does not matter to most of them where the game is.

Lastly and thankfully for the families, any potential post season game at either the NCAA or ECAC level will also be away. Utterly inconceivable that either of those organizations would entangle one of their post season games with the whims and whacky "science" of these whack jobs. In addition, gate receipts for these games go to the organization and they are not going to put them where that figure would be zero.

What, did they forget the personalized plexiglass box and hazmat suits?

You guys are way out of line here.  This new policy is awesome.

Dr. Shirley's personal 'security team' will be ready and available to check liability waivers, vaccine cards, negative PCR tests, masks, shoe size, underwear color, bank statements, sexual preference, nose hair length, pronoun use, and will also ensure all parents are properly directed to their assigned seats...Any parent who does not wish to be in his/her designated seat will be eliminated.

I was going to post something mocking Dr. Shirley, but my complete and utter disbelief in the idiocy of this joke has me speechless. God bless the senior's parents for enduring this absurdity and to the RPI football team for staying focused. The team showed up in Geneva yesterday afternoon and did their run through. I think this might actually be helping them to maintain solidarity.... Sorta like prisoners of war.

"Terrible, terrible, ugly football' out of the mouth of the Hobart play-by-play announcer just about sums up what I'm seeing from the Boz so far.  :o

Ice Bear

Ice Bear says the Pumpkins are really pushing the running game. A plethora of wildcat...lots of ****ing penalties and some turnovers today. Hobart D is impressive thus far.

Ice Bear says the low snap thing is driving him ****ing crazy. He politely asks the Pumpkin center to save some of those for Schenectady in two weeks...which he knows he won't.

Ice Bear says the pumpkins keep blowing opportunities to solidify the W here. It's only a matter of time until RPI does something...

And now there's only two...Maybe thank Dr. Shirley for fostering the distractions that led to RPI's flat performance today. QB George Marinopoulos was way off. I doubt the RPI families enjoyed much of this one.  ::)

Big win for Hobart today. RPI had plenty of chances to win it and basically caved. Pretty poor performance offensively and blew a solid opportunity for an important LL win. Congrats to Hobart though. Made the big plays when they needed to.

Hopefully Dr. Shirley is pounding ham sandwiches today.

Mach, plenty of RPI fans showed up despite very rainy conditions. Hobart had the better running game which was key today. Surprised there was not more scoring in the second half after rain subsided. Both teams had way too many critical mistakes ( some caused by the weather)that neither team  took full advantage of. Both defenses played well when necessary, the difference was Hobart's twin backs. The fact is neither Hobart nor RPI are out of it because having played Ithaca at home I think RPI has a chance to upset the Bombers(Hobart outgained Ithaca in the loss and I actually think the RPI defense is better) The difference between these 3 teams is not really significant. I am not sure about Union  as I have not seen them live, but from what I've seen on video the are good but the other three are capable of a win against them . It should be a VERY interesting finish to the LL season .
The RPI families and fans seemed happy just to see a game despite the disappointing loss.

Glad to hear there was a good fan showing. The kids and families deserve it. Sucks they didn't get a better showing on the field, but thems the breaks. Fully agree I don't think either team was that far apart. Might go 5-5 if they play 10 times. Watched some of the Hobart/Ithaca game and I also agree RPI can certainly beat them. And Union blows so that'll be a shoe-in. 🤣

Sorry Mach, but I'm calling bull**** on you here. You've been saying that Dr Shirley should follow the science, and when she does, you still harangue her.
The science is clear; senior parents are much safer than junior and sophomore parents (don't even get me started on how dangerous freshmen parents are), social distancing of 50 yards away on the visitors side is better than 6 feet (although the Ithica administration I'm sure is livid that their players and staff will be endangered by being up to 50 feet from the RPI senior parents), and October 30 has proven to be the safest COVID day.
She's a doctor, for gods sake. Give her some credit.
