Post season day is here

Although I have continuously ranted about how difficult it is for kids at this level to travel, I am banking on visitors winning both games today:

RPI 14-0
Hobart 28-14 in one of the faster games ever played.  Game over in 62 minutes, 102 running plays, 2 passes total.  Hobart gains 350 yards on the ground, Westminster held to 50.

Machiavelli

RPI up 14-7 with 2 and change left in the half. Playing kinda dookie so far. Play calling continues to be sucky. Defense playing well minus a long fluttery duck for a TD.

Biggest takeaway so far...Endicott's coach comes off like a complete arrogant douche. I'd like just a win, but now I hope they put up some points, just based off of his douchiness.

Machiavelli

And whoever was butthurt about Hopkins...hot damn!!

Dang! Why does RPI make it close and exciting!?

If they just kicked a FG it woulda been over. Soooo questionable. But this is how they like it I guess.

Well, it looks like we're on to Cortland.

Ice Bear

Ice Bear says RPI has certainly made it interesting many times this season, today was no exception. Ice is very happy for the Engineers on their win over a very good Endicott team that laid it all on the line. RPI knows close games and Ice thinks that may be the difference next week.

Ice Bear says The Red Dragons did not impress today. Ice is very proud of the valiant effort put forth by the Pride (Ice is a triple option bitch) but this is not one of the best Pride teams by any means. Not a good sign for Cortland today.

Great ****ing W RPI!

Agree on this. While both wins look similar on paper, I expected Cortland in a blowout. While RPI let it get close, they controlled the entire game and while it was close, it was never really in doubt. Couple questionable coaching decisions on both sides:

-RPI's kicker might be solid from 60. They went for it on 4th and 10 instead of a 40something-ish FG attempt to ice the game. Turnover on downs.
-EC punted on 4th and 10 right around the 50, down 2 scores, with 7 minutes and change. They got it back and scored but they ultimately just lost themselves 2-3 minutes. Kinda dumb if you ask me.
-RPI play calling was less than stellar. McDonald(#2) is the biggest guy on the field and an absolute specimen. They could have thrown to him at will. They didn't.
-EC head coach is super douchey and is probably super popular at local craft beer establishments. Or he might be the dude on Sister Wives. Either way, he's probably awesome, but my perception is not favorable. Some advice, Professor McGonagall, next time there is a very questionable face mask called on the opposing defense after a terrible play call for negative yards, don't wave your team up the field like you did something wonderful. Arrogant clueless douche moment of the day.

Machiavelli

And while Endicott isn't yet at level Purple(I.e. -Dem Spicy Boyz), they are getting there. Congrats on a great season! Lots of talent out there.

Bartman is also really really rooting for the Engineers to eliminate the Gulls from the tournament, and has never swiped the Ice Bear, butt the images offered by Mach regarding the removal of the Union toy cannon is is now thankfully a distant memory......instead with the rising price of Turkey, the Engineers will actually be adding the Gulls to an early Thanksgiving menu....RPI 20 Endicott 10

Bartman's favorite game will be the ASA BUSHNELL BOWL with an NCAA level matchup between 8-2 Westminster(Co-Champions of the Presidents Conference) and Hobart 8-2 (the only team to have beaten the LL Champ Engineers).....The passing game of Westminster against the stallions of the Hobart run game will end with a classic  long Boswell TD run and a Denham 2 Pt conversion for a 22-21 Hobart victory.

Good luck to both teams today.

Good luck to the Statesmen today....Alfred actually scrimmaged Westminster, which reportedly ended in a 7-7 tie. The Saxons then were mauled by Hobart. Obviously, 11 weeks later, a lot can change, but Pep is thinking Hobart will prevail, 24-13.

Thanks Pep, looking forward to next year already and expecting the Saxons to continue their improvement.
Bartman is officially crazy, driving down to Westminster Abby land to witness the joy of the Statesmen as they finished the season 9-2 with a 21-3 victory over the Titans. The game was closer than the score as the Titans had a quick release QB  and some smaller but fast receivers that challenged the Hobart LBs and DBs. The bend don't break rule was in effect for the Defense , but the hard hitting Statesmen forced turnovers to hold the Titans to 3 points. The Titan Defensive front was actually better than any of the LL Dlines, but Hobart eventually cracked the code and rushed for 187 yards which was only 20 less than the Mt.Union offense in week one against the Westys.
The bottom line is that a third place team from the LL had a significant win against the Co-Champions of the PAC, so the Statesmen represented the league well, and if you saw the excitement and pride of the parents and team post game, you'd understand why these Bowl games can be important......especially to a team that was just 2 drives away at Ithaca and Schenectedy from potentially having an undefeated season. They didn't bitch about getting an away Bowl game , but they got off the bus and did their job and made that field their home for a day. A coach once told Bartman that you will make mistakes but never make the mistake of Not giving everything you do YOUR BEST EFFORT. I believe the imperfect Statesmen gave every game this year their BEST EFFORT and their final game exemplified that and rewarded them with a win that the underclassmen will carry forward to 2022.

Technically, fourth place in the conference this very website rated 7th best of the 27 with AQ's.

Obviously, co-champs of a conference rated lower proved to be no problem.

Would really like to see just how many fourth place teams from the six "better" conferences could do a whole lot with the Statesmen. Would it be 6-0, 5-1 or a worst case scenario of 4-2 in the favor of conference #7???

Bart is not the only nut. Was about to drive to Beverly, Ma. myself save for walking in to a cold house with a dead furnace late Friday. Obviously, had to meet furnace guy Saturday morning instead of driving to Beverly. Bummed over missing the trip but the good news was that the problem  involved a $12 part instead of $4,000 for a new furnace!!!

Tony /troy, Good luck in Cortland apple land this week. RPI defense should eek out another win.

Ice Bear

Ice Bear was very happy to see the Engineers pull out another NCAA win. Ice is hopeful for this weekends match-up with Cortland. Ice says the RPI D is going to have to show up in a big way, but they have proved they are certainly capable of controlling this game. Ice asks, Will they ****ing do it?"  He hopes and believes so.

Ice says the Engineers and the rest of the country must keep their eyes open to a very talented (and probably pissed off) Red Dragon team. Ice Bear feels Cortland certainly underperformed last week and they know it. Ice felt that this was maybe the best Cortland team in quite some time. He watched parts of the game last week and was waiting for them to blow it open...Ice says, it just didn't happen. We'll see come Saturday. The Red Dragons come in trying to prove they really are the offensive juggernaut as advertised. RPI wants to bring their cool and collective defensive, no panic, keep it close, win a defensive battle against a good team type game going.

Ice Bear congratulates the Pumpkinheads on an excellent win this past weekend. Ice says the win most definitely makes the LL look good and continues to have a mother****ing **** ton of respect and admiration for the Hobart players, coaching staff, fans, and overall football program. +k for the great W!

Ice Bear, thanks for the LL support. I think the top 4 teams in the LL all could have played in the NCAAs and have represented well, at least the first round. Both Ithaca and Union were very strong teams , and I was disappointed that the LL didn't have a second team in. I think we would have challenged the CC(Muhlenberg,Johnny Hop and Susquehanna) as far as strength of conference if we had some head-head matchups in the playoffs. Although Johns Hopkins soundly beat Salisbury, it' hard to know how good Salisbury actually was this year. I'm looking forward to RPI barely beating Cortland and then, I'm predicting the Engineers will test positive for Covid before the North Central game.
