Thanks for checking in. Best to you and the Bombers.

Welcome Back! I always enjoy everyone's thoughts! The NJAC board is practically dead. So I lurk around and learn a few things.

Picks Picks Picks

Union 16 Ithaca 24 - I think this is going to be back and forth all game long and won't be surprised if Union has leads at different points in this game especially in the 1st half. I do think that there is still some second half meltdown in this Union team as that is something culturally that is not changed in one year. The Bombers have taken care of business against Union 11 out of the last 12 for a reason and the trend continues. The Bombers win and the celebration on the South Hill Saturday night will be one for the ages. Way too much for me now at almost 30 :)

I guess theres other games this week...

Buff St 8 RPI 51 - RPI scores 42 in the first half and takes out some frustration after last week.

Hilbert 3 Hobart 56 - Who cares. Congrats to Hobart for padding there stats and having a great game for clips for the EOY highlight reel

Rochester 31 SLU 17 - I actually think this game will be a little closer than the score. Credit to Rochester for playing a tougher OOO schedule and having played those games on the road. I think they will start a bit sluggish and then pull away.

Can't wait for kickoff at Butterfield Stadium.

Here's my picks...

Rochester 23 - St. Lawrence 17 OT -After the Saints tie the game late with their first made field goal of the season they miss one in overtime and Rochester scores on their first play for the win.

Hobart 69 - Hilbert 6 - The Statesmen accidentally score the most points against Hilbert this year as the Hawks pull their starters in a desperate attempt to keep enough healthy players for their new rivalry game next week against Buff. St.

RPI 44- Buffalo St 13 - The Engineers make enough mistakes again this week to keep this one close for awhile until the Bengals pull their starters to save them for the must win against Hilbert.

Union 31 - Ithaca 13 - The Garnet expose Ithaca's new 9-2 defense leaving Bomber coaches scratching their heads in confusion. "We had a reliable scouting report from somewhere on the internet saying Union was going to use a 9 man offensive line, guess we can't trust that guy" says the Ithaca HC...Unlike others I trust the eleven Union 5th years who say they came back with a purpose.

Hobart 49 Hilbert 0 No way Statesmen give up a score, but will pull starters by 3rd Q

Roch 21 SLU 6

RPI 42 Buff St 6

Here's my picks...

Rochester @ SLU - I think this is going to be a good game. I wholeheartedly believe Rochester is the better team and will show it through the air up in Canton. With that said SLU has a league matchup that they feel they can compete in and even win. They will play their best game of the season but come up just short. Yellowjackets 24-21

Hobart vs. Hilbert - I give Hilbert credit for scheduling some tough teams this season. Man it's got to be tough to know you're going to get beat, and badly. I went through this my first season at HVCC. We were horrible and knew it. Anyway, this one gets out of hand faster than Hobart can even pump the breaks (which I believe has already been alluded to). 56-0 Statesmen

RPI vs. Buffalo St - Well, Buffalo State is going up against the firing squad in this one. I feel they may have a little success initially with RPI coming out unmotivated after losing a game I believe they should have won last week. However that will dissipate fast as RPI falls into rhythm and takes last week's loss out on the Bengals. RPI 42-7

Union @ Ithaca - It seems every week Ithaca is in the LL game of the week. This isn't by accident, this is because they deserve to be based upon their pedigree and recent play. This is a tall order for Union. Union's issue here is that they have not been tested, they have not been punched in the mouth by a real good team. Their ability to win in Rochester was a good thing but I don't think the punch in the mouth was hard enough to carry some benefit into this matchup. I hope I'm wrong. Everything in me says that this game will end up like both the Hobart and RPI game for IC. I mean it when I say I have a ton of respect and admiration for the IC program. I do believe that Union's team speed and athleticism will be a factor though. Tomorrow we see exactly what this Union team is made of. We know what IC is made of. To me, Union matches up very very well in this contest. Their strong defensive front matched against IC's lack of down the field passing game, their own strong running and passing game. This week I would like nothing more than to eat crow. 24-17 IC

UFAN,
I love the boldness of this prediction. If Union wins, it gives me a reason to go to lovely Schenectady next week . If Union wins by more than 10 , I'll get you any charging cord of your choice and deliver it to you at the game ;D

Regardless of outcomes today I'm really hoping for some injury free, great Division 3 football games for  Liberty League teams (all teams really). I'm looking forward to sitting back with my father and watching Union and Ithaca battle it out this afternoon. This is something him and I have been doing together since 82-83. I feel very grateful for it and for a place like this where the few of us who enjoy D3 football can come and discuss this great game played by dedicated student athletes.

So what's it going to be this week?...The Ithaca football team has a penchant for doing whatever it takes to win. That includes a trick or two when needed. Last week against RPI the Bombers used a WR pass from #9 Julian Deumuga to RB Jalen Leonard-Osbourne to catch the Engineers flat-footed and score their first TD. It energized the Bombers and left the RPI defense shaking their heads. Great call.

Can we expect to see that same play this week? Maybe...I'm sure the Garnet have prepared for it. That's why I think it'll be something else. Look for it...maybe a throw back pass on a kick return...a tackle eligible...a WR reverse pass...a flea flicker or even a Philly Special. I'm sure Wingfield can catch the ball. Hitting that big play may well be the difference.

Great start for IC. Clearly they heard the criticisms in the board and are stretching the field vertically to start the game. A great TD throw from Wingfield to Deumaga to get on the board first. Lets go Bombers!

I love the rpitv YouTube channel, quality, broadcast, etc....but man, the down and distance is always like 2 downs behind. Not conducive to watching without volume and not a great sign for future engineers of the world.

Ithaca ICTV is the exact same.  Always 1-2 plays behind for some reason.
