JT and future Mrs. JT frequent a place called Trader Joes which is like Whole Foods w/o the sticker shock.  It still has the hippie feel to it, but a lot of the items are quite tasty.  The frozen Mexican food is great... JT takes that for lunch.  We try stuff and find that most of it is pretty good and fairly priced.  The fat free brownie mix made with Vanilla yogurt rocks.

We used to live about a half mile from the original Trader Joe's in Pasadena, CA.  When we moved there in 84 I could not believe it - a friggin health food liquor store.  I was dying to get the franchise for Northern California but the guy who started it had just sold it to a German company, which was just starting to expand it outside the Pasadena/SoCal area and did not (and does not) do franchises.  Now look at it.

We now live two miles down the road from the TJ's with the largest volume of wine sales in the chain (at least as of a couple of years ago).  And of course, there's a WF across the street.

Funny Trader Joe's story.  I took my father into the local TJ's when he was in the late-early stage of Alzheimer's and having occasional issues with time, location, etc. (he apparenly lost a jeep for the Army when he was in the service in WWII and one of the things that kept coming back to him was wondering what he had done with that jeep).  The TJ employees out here (probably everywhere) wear those Aloha style shirts and many of them here are from culturally diverse backgrounds.  So my father looked around for a bit and then turned to me and asked, "What kind of money do they take here?"  Not sure whether he thought he was just in another country or maybe another universe, but the TJ's environment totally flipped him out.

HOT: MIT pranksters
It was Revenge of the Nerds as MIT students countered Caltech's invasion of MIT's open house. The Caltechies flew cross country last year to deck the Cambridge campus in Cali-inspired inflatable palm trees and hand out 400 T-shirts to perspectives that said "MIT" on the front and "...because not everyone can go to Cal Tech" on the back. MIT students last week crossed the nation to steal the 130-year-old, 1.7-ton Fleming Cannon from the Pasadena campus, transport it back to Cambridge and adorn it with a huge MIT class ring. "I think we can safely say we have generously loaned our cannon to MIT so that our alums in the area will feel at home," said Tom Mannion, assistant vice president of campus life at Cal Tech. "After last year, I know it began to look quite a bit like Cal Tech with all the signs and palm trees, so now with the cannon there, it will really feel like a little piece of Pasadena is right there in Cambridge."

NOT: Oregon State cheerleaders
In a sad day for Beaver enthusiasts, OSU pulled the plug on its cheerleading program, citing safety concerns. Adding insult to injury, assistant athletic director Marianne Vydra defended the decision by saying, "There is no NCAA championship [in cheerleading]. It is not a sport." Ouch.

Just received one of those "don't buy gas from Exxon" emails...

Did anyone stop and think... maybe Exxon makes more than just gasoline? They make a boatload of oil based products. The chances of a person avoiding all exxon products are slim. And if Americans did stay away from just gas... what would it take to get them back? 3-4 cents less than the competitors and you'd take exxon back like rachel did ross (strike that friends comment from the record).

The hormones used in dairy cows is also causing many young women nowadays to (how shall Garnet put this?) umm...sprout at earlier ages too.

Oh, I know... imagine being a seven yr old girl (it happens younger sometimes too!) having to deal with 12 yr old guys hitting on you when you still think boys have cooties. If those dads aren't good enough to buy their daughters healthy milk, I sure hope they're willing to pound a few guys faces in so that their daughters can still sort of had a childhood.  :-\

Since regular milk gave the Stalkerette "baboon butt" the Stalkers started buying soy milk.  The Stalkerette was only given one bottle of formula the day after she was born, and has only had regular milk a few times, and in ice cream and yogurt, they don't baboonize her butt.

It's not just the dairy cows.  Cows raised for beef have all sorts of hormones injected as do pigs, chickens and everything else.

On a side note, what do you call it?

Knightstalkers friend Sam the Butcher (really) would show KS the tumors in the cows liver from the injections, he would then show KS a liver from an organically grown cow from an area farm and it was healthier looking and no tumors.  The only injections the steers received were inoculations.

For anyone who was wondering "Baboon butt" is a medical term that can be documented in medical charts.

Not that anyone cares, but most lactose intolerant people (LIPs) can eat yogurt without any problems (the theory is that the live bacteria in yogurt help you digest the lactose). The lactose in ice cream is not as concentrated as it is in milk and is also consumed in a slower fashion so many LIPs can have ice cream without getting Baboon Butt.

Here's some interesting shizznit:

No Duke Lacrosse Player DNA matched the chicks... collections

What happens now besides the chick losing any and all credibility?
LD11, wanna give us odds the media apologizes for publicly crucifying these guys and making their lives a living hell by taking the word of one stripper over 40 guys?
Does Duke re-instate the program and let them play their season?

This reminds KR of some advice Grandpa Rat gave him when KR was 12 as they shared a couple of High Life Lights (GR liked to watch his figure) and fished for bullheads:

"... and always remember, never ever trust strippers, hookers, and Union grads."

kilted, all these guys had to do is come forward and tell the police what happened at the party.  No one did that they refused to tell the police what happened so the police had to get warrants, start investigations and spend probably tens of thousands of dollars that wouldnt have been spent if someone at that party came forward and told police what happened at the party in the first place.

I dont feel bad for those guys, Im gonna say Im 90% sure that something criminal happened at that party.  Maybe not a rape but something happened or those kids wouldnt have all kept quiet like that.

As U89 said earlier, it has been reported that the Dukies called the stripper some racially insensitive names and she ran with it.

Even back in the Middle Ages when U89 & Garnet were at Union, part of almost every fraternity houses recruiting process involved the dinner with strippers.  One of U89's best friends at 'the College with the Best Football Program in the Liberty League" (CBFPLL)(AKA the Union Dutchmen), ate a cherry from one of the strippers private areas.  Many fine young men almost vomitted from that visual.

If the Yankees score 4 or less, they lose.
