Stalker met a friend of a friend today.  This guy is about 30 and owns three car washes in Hudson County and is doing ok with no stress.  He has an older Hispanic that he trusts working in each as manager and he just drives around and checks out the sites.  Stalker is thinking this is the way to go, open a low stress business that will make a tidy profit and has a minimal payout in salary and benefits.  That or internet porn.

KS,

We should talk.  There was this guy in my neighborhood when I was growing up.  He never seemed to work too hard... but he dabbled... a little buyin low and fixing (cars, other assets), and selling (higher).... a little real estate... a couple of laundermats.  He was just open to and capitalized on opportunities, he was reasonably weathly and never did the 9-to-5.   JT thinking along those lines again.  That is why he started ticket brokering again.

Phil,

Bingo. Delay... Delay... blame the printer/manufacturer (me).  JT's a little frosted right now.  JT's won a project that was triple bid and the buyer wants a little more off.  JT wants to bite his face. JT needs a cocktail right now.  Make it a double.  How your career move going?

JT,
The consultant work is growing – which gives me more time with the kids – but I hate being pulled into places at the last second to put out fires in a strange environment with a staff I know nothing about. I'm up for a Creative Director position in the NYC area, but they're waiting for new business to land. The ironic thing about that is that I could walk through their front door and get them "ins" with three Fortune 50 companies.

...so in the meantime I sharpen up the golf game for a week in Scotland, walk my daughter to school, check smartmoney.com to see (pray) if the market is doing well (so maybe I can just retire instead of re-entering the world of the aforementioned B.S.), and check up on TCNJ baseball (and actually have the opportunity to check out a weekday game or two!).

...and go 'head and bite his face right off. Phil says it's OK ... Phil HAS a cocktail right now ... 18 yr. old Highland Park single malt! !@#$% ... Phil also has a screaming 1 yr. old ..............................

Knightstalker tried one of the new sammiches at Wendys today, not bad for 3.99, at least as much meat as Subway gives you.

The picture below in Garnet's signature makes him think of Clarence Beeks.  Which then leads to the question asked months ago with respect to Holladawg.

Where the hell is Holladawg.

How did Garnet get a camera into John Audino room last night?

With gas at $2.65 in Iowa KR assumes it's buttloads more expensive on the east coast. Not sure how it works out that its cheaper to get gas to the center of the country than to the SEAports, but KR is not complaining.

Anyway, based on the rediculous gas prices and the expectations of sky-rocketing summer prices, what are the odds people start cutting back on their driving and does that hurt the car wash business?

KR took nerd biology classes in college and has no clue about econ or any practical information.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

RE: GAS
Reg is sick of hearing people talk about gas.  In fact he is sick of the gas companies sticking their hand SO far into everyones pocket making "record breaking profits" last year when they are putting the working man through the ringer @ $3 dollars a gallon for the cheap stuff.

What really pisses Reg off is that he has a boat that gets 2 MPG, holds 100 gallons of mid grade, at marine rate +~$.40cents a gallon and my guests think that they can show up with enough bud lights to cover themselves.
If you are in Annapolis, give Reg a PM.....but you better float the dude a corona or two

AJ, you gotta go to the ghetto.  My #1 car wash was in Brighton, down near Soldier's Field Road, on Western Ave.,  across from the Shaw's/KMart, in the vicinity of the New Balance Building.  $8.  They do a good job.  And there's an amazing diner up about a block.

That was my bread and buttah.

Reg, you better not be talking about me as a 'guest'.  You know i'd bring Miller Lite, $$$, AND a roast beef sub from that ghetto-fabulous shop down the skreet.

LD-

You were always over-hospitable.  I was showered with subs, hard iced tea, beer, women, and guitar lessons when you come into town.

It is some other people you may not know of that I was referring to.

PS- Easter is at Regs house this year...the future lil' bros in laws and mama and papa Reg are coming into town and Mrs. Reg wants to wow everyone with the kitchen that she just "built"(1).    This should be fun.

(1) Built refers to basically picking out a color and style for the cabinets, floors and countertop.  Everything else to fill in those blanks was performed by reg and a much overworked and free of charge Papa Reg.

PPS-  U89- Reg performed all of the above with a phillips head screwdriver.

Reg,
KR apologizes for bringing up the single most talked about subject over a 1 year period since the depression.

KR and Mrs KR both grew up in boating familes and are well versed in the cost of gasmoline for boats as well as the etiquitte as far as assisting with the cost. Being as KR will spend the first 7-8 years after med school in the Navy, there are moderate odds that he will have the opportunity to join you on a boating day. Rest assured that large quantities of beers, gas money, and cookies as well as all Mrs KR's single lady friends will be brought along.
