On one of my trips from DC to Chicago, I made it 8 hours without stopping, and then it was a 5 min gas stop. How many of you have made a 12 hour trip stopping only once? 

Where does it say I made the trip in only 8 hours? It clearly says it was more like 12, with one stop after 8 hours. I stopped at the first stop in Indiana. If you leave at the right time, you can avoid traffic right up until all that dumb perpetual construction around Gary.

I've never got a ticket going home or school... who speeds to get to places like that? I did make an 8.5 hours trip to a rodeo in under 6 though. You do that by going 120-135 where there's no traffic, and 80s until you get around the traffic. No tickets. 8) The only tickets I've gotten were on the way to d3 sporting events.

I love that you guys actually calculated it though.... at least your math skills are better than your reading skills.

Well, that was a 1997 V-6 Toyota Avalon. The trip was in spring of 2003, so it was a six year old car at that point. I really like Avalons... very smooth at high speeds even when they have a few years on them... and trust me, I know.

With gas at $2.65 in Iowa KR assumes it's buttloads more expensive on the east coast.

$2.84 here

$2.49 in Jersey City

$2.85 here in Boston....U89 may need to drive down to Jersey City to fill up.

LD11 isn't quite sure as he hasn't paid for gas in 2 years, but he believes gas is in the $2.80 range around here.  Suckas.

It's $2.85 here in the Southern Tier of New  York. blech

Grad drove by gas station this am to find price of regular gas now at $3.09 to $3.11.  Premium is now $3.31.  Is $4 per gallon in the near future?  This is unbelievable!!
