I went to Ithaca as well to play football, and ...

Again showing how RPI will always have a tougher time recruiting than nearly every other school.  No one applies to/gets admitted/attends RPI to play football.  Academics first--and the academics at RPI are full contact, btw.

4.1 high school gpa with a 1490 sat... i went for school and sports is what i meant. :) graduated with honors
Anyone notice how none of the kids from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were even a little bit cool... Where was the athlete who pile drives wonka into the chocolate river??? Coulda done sooo much more with that "classic"

OK, LD11 is alive...barely...

Before anyone takes any of this the wrong way, Union has a hell of a team and I hope they beat the living piss out of Ithaca.

Now, about this  past Saturday's game...

Union is good.  But I firmly believe, not even as an RPI fan, but as a football fan, that the better team lost Saturday.  It pains me to even think it, but Mr. Clown Shoes Audino out coached RPI.  Not that he did anything Super Spectacular, but he stayed consistent.  The RPI coaching decisions took a big hit  in the 4th quarter.  Thier balls shriveled up to BB's.  Too many QB draws, and not enough of what got them there.  it was sickening.  It was very dissapointed.  And RPI's defense was not good.  They made some big plays, but they got beat up physically.  There was no one to come in and smash someone's dick off.  Maybe blow somebody up 5 yards out of bounds, like AJ used to.  15 yard penalty?  Well worth the statement it would have made.  RPI needed an ass kicker on defense, and I didn't see one there.

RPI's QB is nasty.  he's good, and he'll get better.  BUT...he needs to hold onto the ball.  Although 1 may not have been his fault, the fumbles hurt them a lot, and it should have been worst case scenario 28-28 at halftime, if not 35-28 RPI, but a fumble led to a gimme score for Onion, and that proved to be the deciding factor.

RPI should be good next year, hopefully the coaching staff will show up with nuts against SJF next week, and someone on defense will make some big hits.  They need to be more physical.

On a much more serious note, 38 hours have passed since LD11 and WTFF calledit a night, and LD11 is still hung-ovahhhh.  It was a rough night, a rough morning, and a tougher all day Sunday, and the brain isn't back to normal yet.  Thank to RT for the un-needed Tequila shots late night.

1 last thing...My apologies go out to the Union Girl that thought it would be a good idea to show up behind the RPI faithful as time expired and start screaming Union things.  I don't think you are a total whore, like i called you so convincingly Saturday, but next time stay the F away from anywhere LD11 is roaming.  i nearly punched you in the babymaker.

ECAC PRESS RELEASE FROM RPI  [/b]

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football team has been selected to play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northwest Championship Game at St. John Fisher in Rochester, N.Y., this Saturday afternoon.  The Engineers, who are 7-2, and the Cardinals, who are 8-2, will meet at noon.

Rensselar and St. John Fisher last meet in 2003 with the Engineers winning, 24-17.  RPI leads the all-time series with the Cardinals, 10-1-0.  The only common opponent between the Engineers and St. John Fisher is the University of Rochester, which both teams defeated.  The Cardinals, who play in the Empire 8, defeated the Yellowjackets, 58-32 on Sept. 10, while RPI downed Rochester, 20-14 on November 5.

This is the ninth time in the last 14 years that Rensselaer has qualified for post-season action.  In addition to three NCAA Tournament appearances (1999, 2001 & 2003), the Engineers have played in five ECAC Championship Games, including in 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997 & 2002.  They are 5-0 all-time in ECAC games.

WTFF and Mrs. Regulator got along like lamb and tuna fish.  There was no slapping box, unless Reg and Mrs. Reg got freaky in our hotel room during their 'nap'.  Mrs. RT and WTFF got along extremely well until Mrs. RT lost her cookies in the bathroom following Tequila shot #2.  Excellent 80's hair band singing took place by RT and LD11 to wrap up the night.  Good times.

Damn, all the smack talk in the E8 board about how no one wants to have to play st. john fischer in the first round of the NCAA's.  Way to take care of business boys....have fun with that RPI offense....

Union89 is on call this weekend in Boston....HollaDawg, with your expertise in working the system, how does Union89 get to Schenectady on Saturday and still have a job on Monday?  Union89 will be at the game, he just wonders how he will deal with the fallout....

I was waiting for, "Union is good....but not THAT good" in LewDogg's previous post....

Anyone have total yardage figures from Saturday?  Union89 can not find them on either site.

LD11 thinks Union is good, and also thinks RPI is good, and it's a shame, 1 couldn't make the dance, because he thinks both teams were MUCH better than last year.  Both teams were more talented than LD11 has seen in a LL game in a few years.

Fortunately RPI has something to play for next week instead of a throw away game vs. the NEFC.  They have a lot of pride on the line against the Fishies, who were ranked high all year.  It will be good to smack them in the mouth.  Hopefully RPI will beat their asses and Union will take care of business vs. the Ithaca glory day bombers.

When's the last time RPI played an ECAC game at HOME?

Union89 doesn't know if you saw it, but Coach King stated, "Union is good, but not that good" on local TV.  Sounds like a quote the Originaleers would attribute to Coach Audino.

Anyone who knows the stinger understands what he meant.  For those who do not know the man, "they are good" = they are good   "they are not that good" = we didnt play like we should have.  I mean you guys and your liberal arts education  should understand context right?   King will always turn in internal before he lashes out.  Accountability for a loss rests with the team with fewer points at the end.

Would it have been any different if he said "They're good, but we can (or 'should have' depending on when he was quoted) beat'em"

That's just kinger being kinger... seriously the guy needs his own reality show.

Any RPI officials reading this Gro has the perfect gift for Coach King... a parking spot next to '87 Gym. The guy works countless hours and still has to park next to Ghetto Palace on 13th street. Hook him up!

AJ thinks it is an evil plan by fox news to try and ruin RPI's offseason recruiting efforts.  Just like in the episode of CHIPS where the evil local reporters changed Ponches quotes around to say "Ponch will slam you in the mouth creep"  then the little fat blond kid with a bowl cut cried...but in this case Audino is hoping that the star running back will cry and put on a sweater vest after hearing that reengineered quote.
